The first matchup of this entire thing was Bowser versus Pyramid Head, the Silent Hill 2 villain that got into this contest solely on the backbone of Inviso's massive support. Unfortunately for PH, the first match in any contest isn't usually about whether or not the 1 seed will win, but by how much. Mario, Link, Mario 3, and Link again all got their turns to kill some scrub in the first match of the contest, and Bowser followed suit by turning Pyramid Head into one of the all-time weakest characters we have ever seen in one of these things. It was a complete killing from start to finish, and Bowser even went so far as to make Pyramid Head look worse than Guybrush Threepwood: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=1724
That has to sting a little if you're a Silent Hill fan. The only thing that could really be taken from this match is that Bowser looked to be as strong as ever before; ideas of new voting patterns taking place in this contest as opposed to any other were floating around, but they had yet to actually be confirmed. It would take quite awhile before these ideas were given more sufficient proof.
