transience looked through the entire bracket and looked at all the games by ownership, and Baba Is You is either at the bottom or second from it. I know ownership on GameFAQs is a bit of a flawed stat, but it's better than nothing. I don't really care enough to look it all up myself. The point here is I am convinced Baba Is You would have finished dead last in the x-stats if it had faced a heavy hitter guaranteed not to get anti voted -- Super Mario Odyssey or Witcher 3, for example. But because it drew Grand Theft Auto, it got to be the beneficiary of GTA's intrinsic anti-strength. Baba was actually winning this match when it started, because Board 8 detests GTA so much.
Grand Theft Auto 5 is the one game in that series with real strength, though the series has had some success on this site. Vice City once held Melee to 53%, San Andreas was our Game of the Year in 2004, and there are all manner of fair results in the fourways, 2010, and 2015. The issue is people see these famous close upset losses to Golden Sun and Chrono Cross and assume all the matches go that way. That just isn't the case. GTA is the type of series that, due to its nature, will never blow anything out or get blown out itself. In fact, 5's win here is likely to be the biggest win a Grand Theft Auto ever gets on this site -- and even then, due to anti-votes, it wasn't able to put an unknown 16 seed opponent at the bottom of the stats like it should have.
For the record, I am one of those people who anti-votes Grand Theft Auto in almost every match it's in. Not for the reason you might think, though! I'm sure a lot of people think GTA's anti-votes come from nerds not liking how GTA players remind them of the guys who stuffed them into locker rooms in high school or whatever. Not me. GTA started as super goofy cartoonish nonsense, and was legitimately hilarious back in the day. Then 3 happened, the series went 3D, and it turned into this hyper-serious sandbox that it's never truly been able to get out of. I've never forgiven GTA for the change in tone or the types of players it now attracts. It used to cater to gamers like us. Now it's plagued by frat boy morons. The series needs to go back to being cartoonish and ridiculous.

Considering Grand Theft Auto V was a #1 seed in Best Game Ever, it should surprise absolutely no one that it would also be that in Game of the Decade. Once again, it’s a recipe for disaster, because it’s not one of the 8 strongest games in the bracket and not close to either. Its division looked to be among the worst. Of course, that’s partly because of itself being the #1 seed. Yet it was enough for a a fair share of people picking it to win the division. The far most popular opinion however was that the Nintendo game coming out of the lower half would beat it, if Persona 4 Golden or maybe even Read Dead Redemption didn’t get to do the honor first. Even Cuphead had been a fun little upset worth taking for a few people before the contest. Indie games were seemingly on a new level this contest and many expected Cuphead to be the best of them. All three winning games today both looked pretty good today facing similar fodder. It appeared GTAV would be in trouble if it could not impress against Baba is You.
I think it looks pretty good all things today. Most people likely don’t recall it doing well, because GTA has just about as bad a board vote as it gets. If you have that and the match isn’t close, people are unlikely to come back and notice how much you rose over the course of the day. It had only 71% at the freeze. Cuphead had 74% at the freeze and was expected to be facing the better game. Even though GTAV rose to heaven from there and Cuphead dropped quite a bit, people were still hyped about the possible upset for days to come until the word that the percentages changed significantly had spread enough at least.
Baba is You ends up being near bottom of the x-stats to the surprise of not a single person. Even so, I think getting almost 80% on something when you’re as disliked at GTA is pretty great. Baba is You is probably also among the hardest fodder for GTAV to look great against, simply because it’s as different from it as it gets. The simple design catches your eye almost immediately among these 8 games, surely more so if Cuphead wasn’t next to it. I’m surprised it made it in, though it was of course only barely. I played the game during the contest because of seeing it here and because of its name. I’ve been nicknamed Baba in real life a few places before and I had enough coins on Nintendo Switch to get almost free, so I gave it a go. Unless you use guides in which case it’s obviously super easy, it’s probably one of the contenders for most difficult game in the bracket. This is the only one I’ve played so far because of the contest, but I mention it because it’s a small side effect of these contests I’ve always really liked. When we spontaneously try out and enjoy games because they were in the contest, that we might’ve played otherwise.

Look here. Another Indie game that I haven't heard anything about. Great. On the other hand we have GTA 5. So what to say here. GTA V is the most profiltable piece of entertainment media in the history of manking. Yeah kind of a big deal. Over 6 billion of revenue and that was 2 years ago. Still you find it in the top 10 weekly sales charts every time too. If someone didn't knew anything about videogames and asked me to play a serious one I would recommend this one. I know most of the money is from microtransactions but if people are stupid and buy them in any game it is their fault. Yeah I don't like microtransactions. As for BIY don't know anything about it. I guess it is an action puzzle game that is barely a year old.
So for the match. See in this site we don't care for GTA games. Yeah we have bad taste here. But against BIY anything can score a blowout. And GTA 5 did just that. So that doesn't say anything about the power of GTA 5. Which is low I believe too. Man remember how once time a GTA character beat Kefka one on one? Yeah that was 15 years ago but still. I just had to put that somewhere! Also people were expecting GTA 5 to score above 80% and it didn't even score that! Yeah I don't know what else to say. Oh GTA 5 was in the previous Games Contest and it lost on Round 2. Guess it can reach Round 3 at least now? Oh and where is the sequel Rockstar? Come on now!

Baba is WHO? Seriously, this is exactly what a 1-16 match is supposed to look like, more or less. It's not a massive blowout by this contest's standards but that's probably largely GTA V anti-votes. There's absolutely nothing in this performance that says one way or the other whether GTA makes it to Round 3 or not.
