Yeah so remember before this contest where lots of people thought Luigi could beat the trainers, and even if the trainers won that match the Street Fighter guys would get a rivalry boost and smoke them?

The trainers, not the fighters, were the ones that went roughshod over this entire contest with a rivalry boost. Not only did they kick the crap out of the fighters in a pretty hyped match, but they did so in a way that showed Samus was completely f***ed next round even *if* she beat the bosses. All the fighters really managed here was keeping the trainers under 60% for a short while, and they failed at even that.
Right about here is where "TRAINERS SHOULD WIN AND SAVE THIS CONTEST" hype started, and they put the mother of all scares into Mario thanks to it. They ended up the stars of this contest anyway even with losing to Mario, and we'll get to that in due time.
