The only thing I dislike about user-made match pics is how many get picked sometimes. 12 match pics? Seriously? :(
For the first six hours or so, this was the most exciting final we've ever had. You could argue FF/Zelda, but it was a given that Zelda would flatten FF come the day vote. With Samus/Snake however it was tough to guess what would happen, at least for a little bit.
The two were close for the first few minutes, then Samus took off for a 1000 vote lead despite Snake's best stalling efforts. The night vote wasn't as nice to Snake as it needed to be, and the best Snake was able to manage was a prolonged stall as opposed to a serious push for the win. He prevented Samus from getting her lead above 1100, then managed to use the tail end of the night vote to get Samus's lead under 800.
Then the morning vote arrived, and Samus just exploded for a relatively easy win consider how close it was early on. 800 became 1000, which eventually grew to Snake simply running out of steam and collapsing during the day vote. Samus may have won this contest on paper, but Snake certainly won this thing in spirit. And besides, the contest wasn't even over yet. There was still the Battle Royale left to go, where Snake would have the last laugh in all of this.
Snake was in six matches in this contest, and arguably his worst efforts were against Nintendo. The massive jump in Wii anticipation on GameFAQs following the Brawl announcement should be proof enough of why this is, as should Mega Man likely being overrated in the stats. There's also that small bit about how Link, Zelda and Ganon all jumped 3-5% following the TP announcement, showing that E3 has made a difference in the past.
