Ulti's Analysis[]
As everyone is well aware of by now, Solid Snake and Knuckles were stuck seeing each other in the second round of contests for three years running. In 2003 (the second match in this "rivalry"), people were pretty upset that we were seeing a repeat of a blowout match that took place in 2002. And you can imagine how riled up everyone got when they saw the 2004 bracket. It's not like this match occurred three times in a row by accident, either. It was set up to happen in the second round every year on purpose, and it was the least bit funny.
On that note, here's the 2002 poll: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=979
Everyone knew that rerunning this match was stupid and that Knuckles wasn't going to make a match of this one year after getting blown out, and the general apathy towards this match led to a comparatively low vote total and Knuckles losing worse than he did the year before; not that anyone expected anything less than Knuckles getting blown out again, mind.
Knuckles would be stuck facing Snake in the second round for another contest after this one, and when he finally got a bracket in which he didn't have to face Snake in the second round, he extracted his just revenge. Coincidentally, 2005 would also be Snake's best year to date, though he was far from a weak character in 2003. Snake's predictable defeat of Knuckles was business as usual, and the only thing to really look at in regards to Snake was his future match against Mega Man. His three opponents leading up to that match were simply stepping stones, and everyone knew it.

Stats and Analysis[]
Before the Match[]
Unlike the first round, Knuckles did not generate interest in his second round placement. This match had been seen just one year prior, and Solid Snake beat Knuckles comfortably. This lead to disgust from some users who did not want to see the match again. Some even petitioned votes for Yuna just to keep this re-match from occurring.
After the Match[]
Knuckles did not do as well in 2003 against the Metal Gear Solid hero, finishing under 37% as Snake snuck on by to the next round once again. There was little to no intrigue in this match, because we had all seen it just a year ago.
