For all the hype that went into this match and the GSC run in general, it all came crashing to a surprising stop in 5 short minutes. GSC was supposed to be the game to make a good contest run and perhaps threaten Final Fantasy X in the semifinal. A game to threaten FFX in the semifinal would definitely come from this match, just not the one we were all expecting.
Pokémon overall had a subpar contest, especially with how well it did in the 2010 character battle. Then with HGSS and B/W hype, it was expected to do some damage this year with GSC as the flagship. But after taking the very early lead on Majora's Mask in this match, it got rocked. Majora had a 100 vote lead by the freeze and just never looked back an route to a 56-44 beatdown of Kratos-like epic proportions.
Majora's Mask being the favorite here might have been common sense for some people, and maybe it was, but this wasn't some x-stat voodoo from GSC people. There were two direct matches from 2009 pointing to GSC being the favorite, and Zelda just wrecked all that.
Most of us already have the common sense needed to know how useless 4-way contests are, but this match going the way it did should be the final death knell to any stragglers.
