It never ceases to amaze me how non Board 8 contest prognosticators always pick these casualbait games in matches. Only 77% picked Bloodborne to win a 2-15 match, really?
Did you know that Call of Duty games actually used to be able to win matches on this site? It's true! It's even beaten well-known Nintendo and Square games. I promise these polls are real:

Yes, that is actual evidence of Call of Duty 4 beating Super Mario Galaxy TWICE. I get that LFF happened and that Black Ops is going to be weaker than 4, but good hell. As our vote totals have fallen off of the edge of a flat earther's planet, it's clear that the people leaving in droves are the casuals. Site loyalists are the only ones sticking around, and even they're bailing. And since this web site loathes casualbait video games, things like Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto are screwed moving forward.
All that said, Bloodborne was in no way expected to be such a monster in this contest. No one in the oracle had it over 80% in this match, and most people went under 70%. The specter of that Final Fantasy 12 loss loomed large over Bloodborne in this contest, and can you really blame anyone for not having faith in it? The game lost 55-45 to freaking Final Fantasy 12. It's impossible to ignore that.
Thankfully, Bloodborne has built up an incredible reputation in the past few years and came out meaning business this time. I know you all think Doom 2016 is my favorite game in this bracket, but it's actually Bloodborne, believe it or not. Seeing it go from losing to FF12 to holding steady over 80% for an entire match was just surreal. I could not have been happier over this performance, like a proud papa, and I was kicking myself for not picking it to win twice. It is AWESOME that this wonderful video game is getting the respect it so justly deserves. It's the best Souls game ever made, the best action game ever made, it's got the best DLC package ever, and it's really, REALLY difficult. Beating this game feels like a legitimate accomplishment, let alone getting the platinum trophy.

In a division full of huge blowouts, Bloodborne sought out to overperform the most. It fell just short of DOOM, but man does it look good here. There’s a lot to be said about Call of Duty these days (and I’ll get there), but it’s hard to think this would be the same Bloodborne as five years ago. Unlike a good bunch of the other +80% winners this so far, Bloodborne was not against a no name. Every single person voting know what Call of Duty is. It’s the first sign of the strength the FromSoftware games had achieved. Sekiro did not exactly look all too good at first, but Bloodborne went out the gates clearly wanting to bath in the first half of its name. Whether it was Souldborne generally rising or simply the contest title helping out here was not yet certain, but if you picked Bloodborne to round 3 as one of your risks, then what a happy day this must be.
Not a single person in the oracle expected this big a blowout. The closest was still more than 3% off. I was in fourth being 7% off. That’s very telling. I had not expected it would be this much better than last time, but I did go high because I absolutely expected Call of Duty to be this bad. The huge result is undoubtfully a combination of one being better than expected and the other one being worse.
I expected and had validated that Call of Duty has fallen considerably more than we already knew. Let’s recap for a bit. Call of Duty has won a Game of the Year award here in the past back in 2009. It looked good in Best Game Ever II and Game of the Decade I in 2009 and 2010 respectively. Fast forward five years and Call of Duty had been met with the criticism of favoring quantity over quality when making games. They weren’t as great as Modern Warfare. Black Ops is probably among the least disliked, but this caused a backlash on the franchise as a whole. I don’t blame you if you can’t remember Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare actually made it into the 2015 contest, but it did. It was a #14 seed. I’m sure you remember Super Metroid that contest. Well, CoD4 was the game that Super Metroid destroyed in round 1 by breaking 80%.
I expected this trend to have continued. It would decline further. Not as much as it did between our previous two games contests, but still decline. It wasn’t facing as strong an opponent this time, but it also wasn’t as strong a Call of Duty game. I expected the opponent to matter more though, because Call of Duty will get anti-voted to some extend no matter which entry it is. Well, I had the right idea, but I underestimated Bloodborne a bit. Back then I wasn’t sure if I just overestimated Call of Duty despite expecting it to be worse than most, but on this side of the contest, I can see that I had underestimated Bloodborne a bit.
At this point, it became clear that we’d see a lot of blowouts this contest. Something we had almost none of last character battle. Round 1 had a lot of fodder due to the contest having a series cap and only recent games. From this day forward it was time to expect them more than we had done, even if this division had the most. Division 2 had a very boring round 1 with the best losing game in terms of percentage only barely breaking 40%, but round 2 was exciting. We’d have four matches that seemingly could go either way. I know some people thought some of the matches were obvious, but all of them had people on both sides. That’s quite rare!
Tsunami's Analysis[]
So remember back in the Borderlands 2 write-up, how I said that Call of Duty was popular here for a very short while and then it just kind of fell off a cliff? Yeah, it really tanked. Of course, even in 2015, the X-Stats say that Bloodborne was good for 63.25% on CoD4.
2009 CoD4 is allegedly good for 69.79% on 2015 CoD4, though, so there you go, that's a huge decline. I keep expecting Bloodborne to be weaker than it is because all of these new games have titles that sound like something an emo teenager would dream up. I can hardly keep track. Bloodborne's another Hidetaka Miyazaki production, though, so I'm not surprised that it's decent. Is FromSoftware going to become this generation's Squaresoft? It seems odd to think that way given that they've been around since the mid-90s themselves, but they broke out in 2009 with the release of Demon's Souls and they've had one hell of a good decade. Given how fed-up gamers are with so many of the big names of the past--Capcom, Konami, and even Squeenix themselves--there's certainly an opening!

Who keeps nominating COD games/characters? Seriously people. We are old on this site. Old people don't play these kind of games! I haven't played any of these games but I know them well. COD is a FPS that comes out every year, it is the same game and it always breaks record sales. Bloodborne is an exclusive to PS and I didn't know that. It is one of these get good games, meaning you have to be really good to advance because the game is damn hard.
So for the match. Another slaughter. I know we had a COD GOTY here a lot of years ago(seriously even now nobody can explain it)but man. Once again the crew got low win percentage here. And to tell the truth I don't think anybody expecting this high percentage for Bloodborne. In any other site pretty sure COD wins. But not here. So there you go. COD is damn weak and it would lose to almost any other game here. Now if we had Fortnite VS COD... I would like to see that match!
