Given how hilarious the Ryu Hayabusa > Master Chief upset was last year, of course Allen was going to set this match up and try to catch lightning in a bottle twice once Ninja Gaiden got through its vote-in. However, games =/= characters. The match was surprisingly uneventful given past fireworks, and stayed remarkably consistent even though it was Halo during a day match.
The one thing to pull from this is more people had Halo 3 > Sunshine in both battle and bracket than Halo 1 > Ninja Gaiden. This meant a full 24 hours of gurus looking foolish for hyping that Sunshine-to-win-thrice crap instead of the standard 12. I can understand almost every other thing the gurus did this contest, but I just cannot wrap my mind around having faith in Super Mario Sunshine, the game that all but killed the Mario series.
This match obviously set up Halo 3 vs Halo 1, which was one of roughly 100 matches used to gauge the Brawl vs Melee showdown.
