How many matches do you see between two characters that use metal blades for a weapon?
Pay close attention to the night vote of this poll, because it was the one and only time all contest in which Mega Man looked like the Mega Man of old. He took off for 75% of the vote early, and all of the Snake > Mega Man hype that began after the Soma Cruz beating seemed to be useless. But once the morning vote hit, Mega Man sort of... mildly collapsed.
Mega lost a good 2% during the morning hours, then school hit and he stabilized. After school, Axel made another good percentage recovery and managed to get Mega under 70% with two hours left in the poll. Ultimately, Mega failed to break 70% altogether.
Given the events of the contest to this point, it was easy to just blame this on Kingdom Hearts 2 and think nothing of it. Axel does kick all kinds of ass and such. But regardless of Axel's potential strength, it was a sign of things to come for the blue bomber. To think, four years ago Mega Man was a few hours away from beating Sephiroth.
