Zelda took the first 5 minutes, then completely fell apart en route to an easy loss. On the heels of Brawl > Melee with a lot of people still pretty pissed off, Zelda only holding a lead for 5 minutes 1 on 1 during a day match against Brawl (and this match can also be considered SFF if you believe TP is a Wii game) was bad news for the rest of the field.
There were two ways of looking at this match at the time, depending entirely on where you thought TP was in relation to FFX and/or Majora's Mask. Obviously if they're all on equal footing, the contest was over and Brawl had it won. And for all we know, Brawl would have won without outside circumstances. The other school of thought was how Majora and FFX could beat TP and thus keep the final in question, though Brawl getting 52.75% this late in the contest was nothing to sneeze at. FFX and Majora could have been stronger than Twilight Princess, but there was a lot of room in there to squeeze in and still lose.
