Not to be confused with Xenoblade Chronicles X, which is the actual "Xenoblade Chronicles 2". The Xenoblade Chronicles 2 pictured in this match is, technically, "Xenoblade Chronicles 3". You can thank Japan and their nonsensical methodology with how they name and order video games. I don't get it either. By the way, remember TheStupidRaptor trying to claim Xenosaga and Xenoblade weren't in the same series even though the literal director said that both franchises are in the same series?
Shout out to everyone on Board 8 spamming that gif at the dude until he closed his account. Finally some justice around here with getting rid of trashy users.
I was paying very close attention to this match between Batman and Xenoblade 3 (you can't stop me from referring to it at such), because I had picked Xenoblade 1 to win its division. So while I knew Batman was going to win this match, I was also hoping for a very good Xenoblade 2.99~ performance. Batman won the match, and Xenoblade 2.5 Final Mix X Version 1.Beta Max / 4 Days Cubed Sideways looked good in losing.
My one twinge of doubt here was perhaps both games being weak, but Batman put that fear to bed in round 2. As luck would have it, both of these games were quite strong and Xenoblade 3 could have caused serious damage in other parts of his bracket. It finished top 30 in the stats despite never winning a match, meaning it could have potentially won a bunch of the fourpacks. Not to mention all the hype for the Xenoblade 1 remaster that was happening during this contest. The Xenoblade train was alive and well!

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is one of the most unfortunate games in the bracket and just like the others it’s a Nintendo game. As underseeded as it is, it failed to get a winnable match despite it being clearly being in the upper half of games in the bracket. It’s low seed is probably a sign of how the first one is so extremely favored. People liked 2 but not to the same extend as the first one. I’ve heard the DLC makes it closer, but it’s still easily the first. I haven’t gotten around to playing the second myself yet and I’ll be playing XenoblaDE on Switch soon before. That could’ve perhaps boosted the second one a bit as well. It’s pretty close here already and it’s just another point for 2017.
Xenoblade 2 got really close here despite having all odds against it. A few people had it in their brackets, but I’m guessing most just thought Batman wouldn’t be as good as it seemed to be. Most people expected Batman to go above 60% here and it ended below 55%. I don’t think many people thought the performance was due to Batman being bad though. Xenoblade had looked incredible earlier and most things Nintendo had looked really good overall, Switch games in particular. Almost everyone knew right away that this was Xenoblade 2 being legit, although it’s still ways off of the first one.
Batman proved its strength today. It should not be too surprising. They haven’t really been relevant for a while, but it’s Batman of course it’s going to hold up to some extent. Although this match did make people feel a little bit uneasy about picking Batman to round 3 when the BioShock franchise has shown itself to have a really high ceiling in the past. While it proved its strength, getting below expectations in percentage didn’t make that apparent right away and confirmation about that only came later.

Another Superhero game and it too won its match! Superheroes are awesome. I have played 3 of the Arkham games and I have to say that City is really the best. It is amazing. All 3 of them show how Batman games should be, the 2nd one is just slightly better. As for XC2 I only know it because of the controversy with the boob slider. So what was that? Basically you could costumize the character but she was 13 years old and you could make her tits big or small too! Yeah! I know it is strange but it is a game. Just relax and have fun? Anyways that is. Also it is an Action RPG. Strange thing to know about a game but I always like when in US news you can see everything violent no problem but if you show a little skin everyone there says think of the children because it is so bad to do that!
So for the match. Well BAC did won BUT it did worse than expected. I mean 4 of the crew had it above 60% and it couldn't even score 55 here. So why is that? I guess that XCL2 is strong because I do believe the series is more known now. Plus Batman 4 was real bad and I even myself refuse to play it too. So it made the series look bad. Still it won.

Remember everything I said about action games being the in thing now, and non-video game origins not being a detriment? Yeah, this match basically decided to throw that all out. 93% of Gurus got this right, and 71.32% of casuals, which means that it was by and large not a debatable match--yet look at how close it was! This was an absolute embarrassment, barring the possibility that XBC2 was almost as strong as the first--based on 2015 X-Stats, Arkham City is worth 52.86% on XBC, yet it could only get 54.46% on the sequel. And in the next round, it was set to take on a game that finished ahead of XBC in the 2015 X-Stats.
