Brackets were split between these two games outside of the guru, and for good reason. KOTOR is a very respected Xbox day-type game that might have benefited from the contest title boost, while FF9 pretty much always struggles during the day. Pre-contest, there was nothing wrong with taking this upset.
It didn't work out in KOTOR's favor, but that doesn't mean it had a bad match. FF9 was over 55% early, and in standard FF9 fashion it got its percentage rocked during the afternoon hours. KOTOR won its fair share of updates throughout the match, ending with a very respectable 47% on a Final Fantasy title. This was one of those rare matches where both sides seemed content with what happened. FF9 fans were happy to see it win three matches and finally get a legit read on it since it's almost always gets stuck in SFF, and KOTOR scored 47% in its loss. Can't ask for much more than that in a match you were probably going to lose anyway.
And hats off to yoblazer for his first-ever accepted contest match pic! He did KOTOR's side, but more importantly he got the knife fight into RE4's picture this round.
