Xenoblade Chronicles taking out the trash. Not only that, but it looked good doing it. I know Overwatch isn't a GameFAQs kind of game, nor should it frankly be anyone's kind of game given the company who made it, but Xenoblade scoring a 73-27 blowout in round 2 of a contest seemed impossible a few years ago.
Remember when Nintendo was being a bunch of jackasses and refusing to release Xenoblade Chronicles, Pandora's Tower, or The Last Story over here in America? And it took the entire gaming public just totally embarrassing these people for them to finally cave? I remember it like it was yesterday. I bought all three of those games and still own them to this very day, out of pure respect for what gamers accomplished in all this via banding together and telling a big company to piss off with their stupid decision making. For those unaware of this, read about it on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Rainfall
Almost ten years later, look at Xenoblade now. I had a lot of proud papa moments in this contest, and this was a big one. Given how well I remember gamers wanting Xenoblade to come over here, and thinking it would never happen, and then being so happy when it did finally get over here.... this was so awesome. And it got to blow out a piece of trash game from a piece of trash company on top of all that.
And it was a killer performance compared to what Fire Emblem: Three Houses was doing on this very same match day. Given the total insanity brewing in Division 4, could Xenoblade actually pull the impossible and win a division? Only time would tell, but this performance was an eye-opener for quite a lot of people. Xenoblade wasn't scoring these crazy blowouts against indie fodder trash. People actually care about Splatoon 2 and Overwatch.
I don't know why anyone cares about any game made by Activision-Blizzard, but they do. Thankfully, all four games that made this bracket thoroughly embarrassed themselves.
Ctes's Analysis[]
The previous round saw Xenoblade Chronicles look absolutely incredible. However, the match likely had some unknown amount of SFF in it, so we couldn’t really know for certain if it was a misleading result. Today, it proved that it’s on a whole new level. You can really get far in five years it would seem. Xenoblade cemented itself as a favorite to win the division today by a good amount. Overwatch is not exactly the most beloved game on the website and is probably anti-voted to some extent, but it can win against tons of games in the bracket and has some strength to its name.
Overwatch is another casual bait. Look at the prediction percentage for this match and then know that almost every guru picked it to win today. It’s a very GameFAQs kind of result, we had two of those today. Despite the board knowing Xenoblade wouldn’t be in trouble, every single oracle went lower than the result today. We expected Xenoblade to look really good and we really like it ourselves too, and yet it still outdid expectations by quite a bit. The consensus was below a doubling. It’s incredible how far the game has become, because to bury a big name like Overwatch, even on our site, you have to be recognized yourself. I don’t think Xenoblade was that yet five years ago and it definitely wasn’t when it released. But through Smash exposure and Nintendo acknowledging the series in recent years, it has gathered its respect.
Xenoblade had basically nothing to worry about the coming round despite Three Houses being the pre-contest favorite to win that match. It would take some serious Nintendo hierarchy kind of thing to make it seem likely Three Houses could end on top of that match.

Boob Slider! Oh that is in the sequel, sorry about that. We all thought that XC would win but nobody expected such a big win. Man Death Stranding has to be damn weak. So yeah I don't know what else to say. I guess that XC winning a Round 2 match with 73 is so amazing that if you said that before the contest people would call you crazy and laugh at you for sure.
So for the match. XC dominated here. Seriously that high? Even the whole crew had it around 66 too. So yeah. I don't know who the XC franchise got so strong but it did! Or they face really weak opponents? Too bad we didn't had Hentai rallies here. Overwatch has to be the AAA game with most Hentai ever. Probably? Still amazing win of XC. And for a while it was a Wii exlusive too!

This is entirely in line with expectations for Overwatch. I guess the casuals got fooled by it? Or I dunno, maybe not. 38.68% got this right, compared to 38.98% who had XBC reaching this round and losing, but XBC's first-round prediction percentage was about 5 points better than Overwatch's. I feel like Overwatch probably was the favorite, but its low R1 prediction percentage was either people overrating Death Stranding or just there being a high enough percentage of people who finally realize that casualbait games tend to get slaughtered here.
I think the upshot of this is that Kojima needs to bite the bullet and just make movies instead of trying to make these cutscene-heavy video games.
