Before getting to anything else, let me first say this -- I legitimately love Fortnite. No trolling, no BS. I love the game. I wouldn't put it on a top 100 list or anything, but it's legitimately a phenomenal video game. I'm pretty sure every kid in the world under 13 with access to electricity has played it, and Epic has done a wonderful job marketing their game specifically to kids. I'll leave my hatred for Epic's business practices and their continued stupid decisions, like banning a 9 year old from a game marketed to children, out of this. I want people to know I have legit positive feelings for Fortnite, and I was somewhat bummed out when in this contest it got treated similar to how Draven and Sans got treated in the last one. It truly did not deserve to get destroyed like this.
I have two main reasons for liking the game. First and foremost, I volunteer with the middle school and young high school students at my church, and we're always messing around playing sports, playing video games, and discussing the word. Smash Bros and Fortnite are the two games that usually get booted up, and these kids just go nuts for it. It's so cool to see. If GameFAQs wants to be a bunch of boomers and hate on something because kids enjoy it, then the users of GameFAQs need a little more joy in their life. A lot of you guys clearly either don't have kids or don't have a connection to them. I don't have kids of my own, but seeing how happy these kids are in church makes me want to give them all the joys in the world. Remember, the generation of gamers that came before you probably looked at you in the 90s and thought all your games sucked, too. Remember all of our parents freaking out over Doom and Mortal Kombat while extoling the virtue of Nintendo games? You shouldn't grow up and treat others the same way, bros. Kids all talk about Fortnite and Tiktok the way we used to talk about 90s tech. Leave it alone.
The other reason Fortnite is awesome is because it functions as internet day care. I love the kids at church, but I won't deny that a lot of kids out there are spoiled little brats who need an ass whuppin. Thankfully, Fortnite also fixed that problem. Every single other game's online community automatically got better the second Fortnite got huge. That's because all the screaming brats don't play other games anymore. They all play Fortnite and Minecraft, which leaves every other game's online open to being good. Finally!
So yeah, Fortnite didn't deserve this. And yes, I was secretly hoping for a giga-rally. Sue me.
As for Horizon, the game is super legit, but it wasn't totally possible to know that from this performance alone. The one hope Borderlands 2 supporters had going for them is that almost any game would have blown Fortnite out. Even games that finished super low in the stats. It's simply not the kind of game that will ever get votes here, and in any contest it's in it will always get the Draven treatment. So I say if there's ever another catch-all games contest, let's have this Fourpack of Fun: League of Legends : Fortnite :: Dota 2 : Undertale.
"I think Fortnite is a pretty fun game too. I like it more than a lot of other games in the bracket tbh.
It's by far the easiest battle royale to 'get good' at imo from what I played.
The lack of building in other royale can get rough since I'm pretty bad at shooters generally.
Fortnite also has cool seasonal modes like playing/fighting Thanos and best of all LIGHTSABERS.
The Dances are pretty hit or miss but I do think it's cool stuff like Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up (with the OG song and everything) and stuff like Star Wars TRAITOR scene and force choking. And of course seeing flossing making it to the Sonic movie.

"I think Fortnite deserves a little bit of credit in its design. PUBG was the real innovator of the Battle Royale genre, but Fortnite took its spot at the top because they had imagination in spades and designed something aesthetically pleasing with a lot of personality.

This was a very satisfying result to many. Fortnite has been huge in the end of the decade, there’s no denying that. It’s in no way a GameFAQs kind of type though. Its appeal is a lot more casual. It’s also the exact type of game that we’re scared to see catch a solid rally, however. The player base is so huge and active and could easily outnumber. The chances of that happening are extremely low, I’m sure, but it shows how traumatized we’ve been. I’m sure some regulars were holding their breath for a good 20 hours of the match before feeling safe too, despite Horizon not just winning but dominating the match.
Look at the prediction percentage here. That’s really low for a match where the winning game breaks 80% Part of that is of course because Fortnite is the casual bait it is, but I guarantee it’s also because of rally fear to some small extend. There are less brackets these days, the average user making a bracket now is better than it used to be. In addition, stuff like GTA and WoW are actually big enough here. At least people visit the site to look at stuff about those games. Fortnite doesn’t really have that going for it, so it’s probably not as much casual bait as those. It makes complete sense to include Fortnite in a Game of the Decade bracket, but let’s expect this to last time we ever see it. It’s tough to imagine it putting up a good number on anything.
While Fortnite was the sender of attention in this match, let’s turn our eyes to Horizon for a bit too. It looks great here. Fortnite got most of the attention, but you deserve some credit for breaking 80% on anything, particularly a game everyone knows what is, disliked or not. It ends up getting that credit, but it was still uncertain at this point. Its round 2 match was debatable, and Horizon would go into it as the underdog according to the guru. Still, the upset felt good after this match. Horizon did a lot more than what was expected of it.
Tsunami's Analysis[]
This match followed neither of the "trends". Whereas in all 8 of the matches on the first two days, the "extra voters" on the registered side largely congregated towards one entrant, and in the other three matches on Day 3, the proportions were very similar, in this match, the raw margins of victory among registered and unregistered voters were very similar: 4772 among the registered and 4714 among the unregistered. Since there are more registered voters than unregistered, that means that this match wasn't even as close as it looked! With the double-counted registered voters, it still came out to a little under 81%; in reality, it was a tad over 82%. Which doesn't sound like a huge difference but you have to remember that the difference in percentage between 1.5x and 2x is larger than the difference in percentage between 3x and 4x. In this case, it's the difference between a little under a 4.25x and comfortably over a 4.5x. Apparently Fortnite is just that hated; I knew it'd lose but I figured its popularity would at least let it not get embarrassed.

So we have HZD vs a game that is the most popular in the world and it is a battle FPS royale. So that means in this site it loses to every other game! In every other site except Gamefaqs Fortnite would dominate since as I said EVERYONE and their dancing grandmas knows about it. Millions play it EVERY day. HZD I have played it and it is an excellent game with a unique premise too(robot dinosaurs!oh and other robot animals too)but it works.
So for the match. Someone(can someone remind me who exactly to write it?)tracks on polls the age ratings(why?)and currently around 5% of the people that come on Gamefaqs is under 20 years old. And Fortnite dominates on people under 20. So it never stood a chance. Of course with a rally it could do it, but as I said above nobody cares for this site anymore. Sure a few years ago people wanted to make fun of us but now? Most people don't know that this site still exists. Oh and even though the Crew gave high win percentages for HZD it won even higher than they predicted! So yeah Fortnite is damn weak here. However if you see the correct prediction percentage a lot of people went with Fortnite. Guess name recognition or hope for a rally? Come on people no outsider cares for this stuff anymore.
