In two days' time, we got two matches that thoroughly embarrassed the Wii. For my money, this was the funniest LOL WII match of the entire contest. I know NSMBWii losing to MvC2 was out of left field, but that at least required an outside rally.
But a multi-million dollar Wii game needing the morning vote to get saved from an upset at the hands of some DS visual novel? That is embarrassing beyond any reasonable comprehension. I know Board 8 loves Phoenix Wright and all, myself included, but let's not kid ourselves into thinking the entire series isn't weak as hell.
Yet after Mario Kart Wii took the early lead and pushed it to 500 overnight, Phoenix actually started stalling and cutting -- Phoenix Wright, a series with joke trends, was cutting Mario Kart Wii in the dead of night on a pace to actually win.
The morning vote did of course come around and save Mario Kart from one of the most embarrassing losses ever, but the damage was already done. When you let some weak nonsense like Phoenix Wright get that close to you at all, you suck when it comes to contest polls.
