Some indie games looked okay this contest. Most did not. Terraria was one of the many that served only as early game fodder, and though getting doubled isn't the worst loss in the world it managed to make BioShock Infinite look much, much stronger than it actually is. Only Heavy Rain and Metal Gear Solid 5 fell off more with people throughout the decade, and the reasoning for this is obvious. BioShock 2 damn near killed that series off for good, and Infinite tried far too hard to recreate greatness. Greatness cannot be artificial. It simply is.
On the off chance anyone reading this hasn't played it yet I won't spoil you, but there is a reason people don't like BioShock Infinite, and it performed as such this contest. Can you imagine if Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, Witcher 3, or Dark Souls was in this match instead of Infinite? The beating would have been legendary. But it is what it is, and we were treated to another run of the mill round one doubling.
One thing I can talk about that spoils nothing is the gratuitous violence in BioShock Infinite. I'm not one of those idiots who thinks violence in video games causes school shootings or anything -- I've played a whole lot of games with a whole lot of violence myself, and I'm not exactly ready to join the military -- the violence in a video game has to be in context. The original BioShock was violent, but it made sense. BioShock Infinite's is just stupid. You're walking along in a fair, and all of a sudden your character pulls out a buzz saw pistol and cuts a guy's head clean in half? Come on, do better. That stuff existing just for the sake of existing is pointless. I doubt I'm alone in that belief, either.

If Batman had you worried about the next round because it got close to Xenoblade 2, then this match should remove any worries you had. Terraria is fine, but it’s not exactly the type of game that would ever do well here. Furthermore, at this point we all agreed that indie games from the latter half of the decade were the ones to fear and Terraria is from the early part of it. Just to add salt to it, Terraria ends up being the ultimate loser of the bracket. BioShock looks bad here despite getting the doubling.
Of course, none of the above stopped the board from overestimating how close Terraria could get to BioShock, even though almost all of us agreed it couldn’t pull off the win. Expectations for BioShock Infinite were also very low. That series is way past its prime and we already saw Infinite in action last time where it lost in round 1 to peak strength Fallout: New Vegas. It was a step behind Arkham City then and with more reason to drop. The original BioShock could pull it off, but that one is on another level. You have to give BioShock some credit for managing to hit the sweet spot where it surprised us positively but still looked bad. It’s probably the forced voting at work again. It made a lot of round 1 matches less close than they would be otherwise.

So I don't know about the Bioshock francise but a friend of mine bought the trilogy a few weeks ago and from what I saw they are damn good and brimming with atmoshphere. As for Terraria people nick named it a 2D Minecraft so that is. Plus the game is excellent from what I hear too. Indie of course. Plus it has amazing sales so it has to be good right? I think the Bioshock franchise is on ice now too. I mean we haven't had a new game for 7 years which I don't get it. Good sales and amazing critical reception but that is? Companies should keep making games from their franchises that sell well you know.
So for the match. Some people thought that Terraria could do it but I never even thought of that. Bioshock is still a strong name and indie games as we saw don't have serious power. Even more so on this site. So that is.
Tsunami's Analysis[]
If there was any good news for Arkham City, the presumptive favorite in Round 2, it was that its opponent, BioShock Infinite, was also disappointing in Round 1. Terraria is a sandbox game similar to Minecraft, hardly the type of game that GameFAQs goes crazy for. Yet here it was pulling down 32.33% against BioShock Infinite. Admittedly, Infinite hasn't had nearly the success in these contests, be it in games contests or Character Battles, that BioShock or BioShock 2 have had. But it's still an established franchise, which means it should be worth more than this.
