So hey, remember this match?
That was the last time such a debated match turned into such a massive blowout. Though to be fair, most of the people on Board 8 picking WWF No Mercy knew it would lose, but picked it anyway because this was a mildly debatable match and people wanted to support the guru nomination. There was also some wrestling love in there and a debate on whether or not GameFAQs considered wrestling games sports-type games that it would be unwilling to vote for.
That all ended in seconds. Fire Emblem just annihilated WWF from start to finish, leaving no doubt at all. It meant a lot of things, most notably how we can make it official that GameFAQs doesn't care about wrestling. The other thing is how this match turned Fire Emblem 7 vs Tony Hawk from debatable to lock in a matter of seconds.
On a personal level, the only games in this bracket I like as much as Fire Emblem 9 are Melee and Street Fighter 4. I had zero faith in two of those three games, but we can all see how that worked out. All three ended up winning in round 1, which was awesome. And the trio closed the deal with going 72-28 in a debated match, which is always hilarious to see.
Though with that said, this was a rare occasion where Board 8 didn't care about losing. Supporting the guru choice and throwing a point away willingly was too tempting to pass up for many.
