Okay, now we can talk about Blizzard being the worst company in human history. I played nice when discussing Overwatch and Starcraft 2, but Diablo 3 is in no way a video game worth playing nice with. Remember this garbage?

Yeah, remember Blizzard being such useless, greedy trash that they released Diablo 3 with always-online DRM and one server? I remember. I was there. I bought a new computer to play that game and everything, and then I couldn't even log in because Blizzard thought one server would be enough. These people also refuse to add stash space to Diablo 2 or more deck slots to Hearthstone because they're worried about server capacity. It's unreal how much they lie.
And then it got so much worse, but to understand how we need to go back in time a little to discuss the last great game Blizzard made -- Diablo 2. The game is so good that mere rumors of a remaster have people up in arms. To that I say those folks are gullible idiots (Warcraft 3 Reforged just happened, people), but whatever. Diablo 2 is still played extensively TO DIS DAY, and the game has its own economy over on d2jsp called "forum gold". A huge underground economy happened, and you guys know how well Blizzard handles news of anyone else making money instead of them. Just look at the Warcraft 3 Reforged EULA.
Anyway, Diablo 3 finally got up and running, and much to everyone's horror the item drops basically did not exist. Anywhere you go, same complaint. And why was that? Because Blizzard was butthurt over d2jsp, so in Diablo 3 they turned item drops way down and launched the game with a Real Money Auction House. It's okay that items don't hardly drop in-game. Just open up the wallet and go buy them in the auction house! Blizzard tried claiming this was an improved way to sell items that you yourself picked up, but everyone and their mother knew that the sellers in the auction house were all Blizzard smurfs, because again, items were not dropping in-game. It was impossible for anyone to have all of the good items being sold in the auction house.
It all added up to arguably the worst launch in the history of video games, and it never got any better for Diablo 3. People can talk all they want about the game getting better once content was added, I don't care. That game is laughable trash, from a laughable trash can of a company, and people are on my side now thanks to the whole debacle with China. Don't worry, we'll get to it.
How do I know people are on my side? No one knows or cares about whatever Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward is. Is it an indie title? Is it a book? Is it an adventure? Is it a visual novel? No one knows, no one cares. All I know is it led Diablo 3 for two minutes, which is a wonderful allegory for Diablo 3's launch. I don't care what Diablo 3 did in the rest of the poll after those first two minutes, because they told a better story than the final 1,438 minutes ever could. The Blizzard hate is real, and my side will win.
By the way, do you guys not have phones?

Fuck off, Blizzard.
Ctes's Analysis[]
Even with how much Blizzard is dislikes these days, Diablo III still managed to almost break 70%. That’s how bad Virtue’s Last Reward is. It didn’t surprise anyone either. It’s a game we’re solely putting in there because it’s our own niche thing. Same thing as 999 back in Best Game Ever III. On board 8, it just got second place in a best 3DS game contest. In a contest anywhere else, it’s just happy to be there. Visual novels are never going to be bigger than really obscure in these things most likely.
I’ll also defend Diablo III a bit. It’s a good game honestly. It’s not as good as the second one at all, but that’s high bar and it was just nice to be back after so many years. I don’t think it’s what Blizzard is likes for and I don’t think it’s getting anti-voted as badly as some of the other games are. I mean, we on board 8 did of course. This match had one of the most insane board votes of the whole contest because it’s one of our favorite games against something we don’t like. Diablo was losing a minute into the match and was ahead by only 2 votes two minutes into the match. That’s insane for something that ended up getting nearly 70%!

Diablo series is HUGE on PC! Diablo 2 is still played on PC, 20 years after it came out! A friend of mine bought D3 for XBOX and he has put so many hours on it that I have lost count. These games are all for the loot and the levels, since D3 hasn't even a traditional level cap. I never liked these kind of games but eh. So Blizzard announced a Diablo gatcha game a few years ago and man oh man I haven't seen more disappointment in a room from a video game announcement. I mean it was extremely bad. It was so bad that the game isn't still out. I don't understand the fans. Sure Diablo series was always for hardcore gamers on PC but they do know that mobile games earn more money per year now than the traditional games right? I mean every company would be an idiot to not relase gatcha games of all their franchises. Still Diablo series is still popular and they announced a new traditional Diablo game a few months ago. So this ZEVLR is a visual novel game I believe? And it got into the previous Game Contest too? Damn!
So for the match. Obviously Diablo 3 would win. But it would be nice to win with above 70% at least. I mean it faced a visual novel game. Also I do believe that Diablo 3 wasn't liked when it first came out because it simplified things from Diablo 2 and also you could sell items you get in game for real money to other players and it had even an auction house provided by Blizzard in game too! Yeah it lasted around 1 year but that is 1 year too many. I guess a win is a win though.
Tsunami's Analysis[]
This feels like it was actually a pretty good performance for Diablo III. No, VLR isn't strong, but Diablo III was absolutely excoriated by the fandom when it first came out. Though I guess nowadays, how good a game you are when you first come out is completely irrelevant because everything's so wired that they can just patch things? And D3 is apparently a better game than it used to be. We'd see that again soon.
Still, Diablo II beats RE2 outright in the 2015 X-Stats, 56-44. If we peg Diablo III at even half Diablo II's strength, VLR's projected to get 26.73% on RE2, which is higher than what VLR is actually pegged to get on RE2 via 2015 X-Stats. Even adjusting for the expectation that this RE2 remake is actually stronger than the original, which flies in the face of everything this site has stood for for the past two decades...there's still no X-Stat voodoo I could come up with to suggest that VLR is weaker than DR2.
Also, did people forget that 999 came out in 2010? It seems really weird that VLR made the bracket and 999 didn't.
