This match ended up fairly boring, but you really had to be there for the first few minutes. There were whispers of LittleBigPlanet having a shot at making a run this contest. And then come match time, Grand Theft Auto 3, from the series able to tank more than any other, comes out with over 70% of the vote. This bled all night and eventually fell to a stable 62%, but people were going nuts for those first few minutes with how legit GTA3 was and how badly LBP bombed and everything else. I'm telling you, the stats topic is worth it if only for the overreaction that comes at the beginning of every match. It's as predictable as it is ridiculous.
As for what happened when things calmed down, this basically cemented Half-Life 2 > Grand Theft Auto unless HL2 went out the next match and completely s*** the bed. Slowly but surely, the contenders down in the bottom half of this division were picking themselves off. At this point, it was basically down to the Tales/GoW winner versus Half-Life 2. After the fast start, GTA3 did not impress.
