I know Banjo-Tooie isn't the Banjo game of choice, but MGS2 having 20000+ people pick it in the battle as a 7 seed was nuts. There are 1 seeds that didn't break that number.
Oddly enough MGS2 looked like the one game in that series worth a damn once this contest ended, even though it was the first one to lose and the game that kicked off Shadow of the Colossus's upset run. This poll actually started off as a doubling, but MGS2 kept going up until the end and came decently close to breaking 70%.
When you look at round 1, you look at The Sims and Banjo-Tooie and just assume Banjo would kill The Sims. But that's why they play the games, and such. MGS2 had absolutely no clue the mountain it would face in the next round, and we had no clue either. There was zero indication Shadow of the Colossus was going to pull that off based on how the two games performed in the first round.
