Poor Anagram. PC games did well all contest, a ton of 1 point matches had weird results, and Western RPGs also did quite well for themselves. So when he literally put his neck on the line for this match, it seemed like a decent enough bet. Baldur's Gate 2 had a good chance of winning, and was the bracket favorite.
Unfortunately, Anagram forgot the most important thing of all: DAT TOP OPTION. Though to be fair, Skies probably also wins if you switch the seedings given how fast it started. This match was over 60% early, but after the fast start Skies pulled one of the most memorable percentage collapses ever. It just kept going down and down overnight, to the point of being comical.
Putting it a different way, Skies had a 1000 vote lead in 75 minutes. It only won by 1600 votes, and obviously the match finished 52-48. If this were a day match, you have to think Baldur's Gate might have pulled it off. It did some serious stalling with the morning vote, after all. Even more odd was how legit Skies ended up looking in the final stats. Imagine how funny it would have been had BG2 pulled off some upset over a well-known title.
But at the end of the day, Anagram was stuck doing a backflip. I hear he broke his pool doing it.
