Advance Wars is a turn-based strategy game for the Game Boy Advance, developed by Intelligent Systems and released by Nintendo in 2001. One of the earliest first-party GBA games, it's a surprisingly lighthearted story about a war between the nation of Orange Star and neighboring country Blue Moon; in the e

nd, though, both nations must team up with Yellow Comet and Green Earth to defeat the Black Hole Army. It was reasonably successful upon release, and it received more acclaim than just about any other title on the system.
Oddly enough, no Advance Wars game or character ever appeared in a GameFAQs contest until 2010, when the original Advance Wars received a 13-seed in the Game of the Decade tournament. Though it lost to Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal, it received a surprisingly potent 26.72% of the vote, even though many expected it to get tripled or worse.
