Cloud and Squall ranks the Stars of Destiny from Suikoden series on August of 2008.

The List[]

Tenkai Star[]

5th: Thomas
I never really liked Thomas, and I feel sometimes like I'm the only one. His chapters were fun, but he was so pathetically weak. He reminds me of Bilbo Baggins. Not very strong, but he can get strong allies. He's basically the keeper of the castle. Little storyline wise is devulged about him. His importance is minimal compared to the other stars. Thomas is basically like "Hey, you can stay at my place". Not even a very good business man. Pathetic how he actually went to the final dungeon.

4th: Lazlo
The unfortunate prince. The True Rune Of Punishment guides his fate. Honestly he might rank higher if Suikoden IV wasn't 50% sailing. He starts out pretty cool. He's actually a soldier from the beginning unlike our other unlikely heroes. But that quickly goes south when his best friend betrays him entirely. Jerk. Lazlo would be cool though if he showed up in a future Suikoden as a drunkard who babbles on about justice being a facade or something like that. I honestly don't have much to say about Lazlo I guess.

3rd: Tir McDohl
Tir Mcdohl is freaking awesome. The distance between him and Lazlo and Thomas is so great that it can't be represented well. The one thing that does hold Tir back is the fact that he doesn't have the balls to tell Gremio to stay put. I mean seriously. Gremio doesn't have to go everywhere with you. But other than that, Tir is awesome. He has to kill his own father. He turns most of the enemy soldiers against him. He's kickass in battle too. Soul Eater Rune crushes it's enemies before well... everyone. Tir even makes a cameo in Suikoden II. Which is useful. Though you can't use him for the Luca Blight fight. For obvious reasons.

2nd: Riou
Ahh the young boy who manages to do what an entire army couldn't- take out Luca Blight. Luca Blight takes several dozen arrows to the chest, and fights 3 groups, and then manages to lose in a duel to him. In all fairness, he did have half a true rune. Or whatever. As someone once said- it's funny that the party that beat Luca ****ing Blight manages to get beat up by a group of bandits in town. I mean where were those guys when Luca Blight attacked? Seems like they could've taken care of him pretty easy. Riou doesn't have as much struggle as Tir (Who kills his own father). His only struggle is that Jowy betrays him. Silly Jowy, never choose the side with the guy screaming "DIE PIG DIE!", even if it does have Leon Silverberg on it.

1st: Prince of Falena
The Prince of Falena is awesome. His tragedy starts out early in the game. His mother went ape nuts on some poor defenseless town who hates him and his family. Then the Godwins come in, help cause his mom and dad to get killed, and use his sister to control the throne, and they're far worse than his mother. He's forced to leave, and he has to seek help from the treacherous Barrows family. And that's all within the first few hours of the game. Luckily Auntie Sialeeds (who reminds me of my own Aunt Devon a little) and Georg have the Prince on the good side of some more powerful people in Falena. So the Prince builds up an army, and has to show that he's better than the Godwins (which really isn't hard). Things finally start looking up for the Prince, until Dear Aunt Sialeeds changes sides. Lyon is injured in the switchover, and things go back to being "GOD I HATE NETHERGATE". But The Prince doesn't let that get him down. He continues fighting, doing a lot of it on his own. He has to fight against his own Aunt eventually, and then gets a cool one on one with Gizel Godwin. Which while not all that impressive, is none the less cool. The Prince is my favorite main character in the Suikoden Series. It'd be hard to top him.

Tengou Star[]

6th: Boris
If you got Boris, you're doing something wrong. Because Ridley is much more awesome. Kobold Power. As I never got Boris, he's automatically last. Yeah. Not to mention this is a pretty awesome star.

5th: Lino En Kuldes
Of note, Lino is the only father of a tenkai star that is also a playable character. The King of Obel isn't so bad that he's worse than a character I never got. But he's also not so good that he's one of the top 3 characters for this star. Honestly, Lino is a weird one. He lets his (unbeknownst to him) son do all the work for him. Typical royalty. He's not that weak at least. One of the few playable royals in the series.

4th: Lepant
Lepant is useful in battle for about 5 minutes. Honestly, I never used him very much. He goes on to become President of the Toran Federation, which makes about as much sense as it can I suppose. I guess nobody else was really a good fit for the job. Lepant refuses to help Tir out until Tir helps him out. Which is a jackass move if you ask me. Turn a blind eye until something happens to you huh? He's still pretty cool. Just not enough to put him on the top half of this list.

3rd: Raja
Raja is one cool old lady. The former admiral is one of the first to support the Prince of Falena in his quest to take down the Godwins. She's a tough old bird, who's not afraid to get into a fight. Like Lepant, she can't help the Prince until he helps her- but she has a much better reason, being that the Barrows are supporting the Prince. And the Barrows are just as bad if not worse than the Godwins. Raja Provides a good base for the Prince until he gets a new one. And it's the first movable base in the series. Which is cool. She's an ex admiral, and pretty smart too. Very useful in battle as well.

2nd: Sassari
Let's face it, the hat in Suikoden 2 is why he's this high. Because he's just a clone of Hikkusak or whatever his name is. Just like Luc. But the hat is just awesome. Besides, he has a pretty cool role in Suikoden 3. I like when he fights the flame champion. At least he has yet to go all emo on us. But I'm sure that'll happen sooner or later. He does get his ass kicked in Suikoden 2 by Luc which loses him major cool points. But being a high ranking Harmonian does earn him some cool points. Besides in Suikoden 3 he chooses the right side in the end at least. Though I can't say the same for him in Suikoden 2.

1st: Ridley
Ridley from Two River. Ridley is part of one of Shu's best plans. Ridley made it look as if there was discontent in the Dunan Unification Army, allowing him and his kobolds to attack Kiba and Klaus from the rear. Great plan. Ridley is a tough general. He's one of the coolest Kobolds in the entire series. If not the coolest. He also brings back information that Luca Blight is the new King. While at first he lets the enemy tactics divide two river, he eventually realizes they must unite. Speaking of which, it seems like most of those in this star are at first not willing to fight with the hero, but then change their mind later on. Ridley is also the most badass looking Kobold.

Tenki Star[]

5th: Elenor Silverberg
The worst strategist in the entire series without a doubt. Worst character in the entire series without a doubt. She shames the Silverberg family name, and I can only guess that she has no direct relations to Leon Silverberg. Hopefully her gene pool died out long ago. Elenor is even the worst strategist in her own game. How embarrassing for her. Her plans suck. "USE THE RUNE OF PUNISHMENT!" Yes, what a great idea Elenor. NOT! She made me wonder if all female strategists would suck or not. Elenor was just awful. I repeat, worst character in the series.

4th: Caeser Silverberg
Not a fan of sleepy Caeser. He doesn't do much, but that's still more than Elenor. He's not the best strategist in his game either! His brother Albert is. Though in his defense, he's still young, and had little to work with, and was up against an emo punk. His tutor was none other than Apple of all people.. Caeser could do better in the future. Maybe he'll be the strategist in the Final Suikoden game, aged a bit, and much wiser. Who knows?

3rd: Mathiu Silverberg
Mathiu is cool. He has some pretty cool plans, like the training plan, where he lets the spy leak bad information. Now that's a brilliant plan. He's a great adviser to the army, and unfortunately loses his life in battle. Mathiu meets a tragic ending. Though I'd say he's a better strategist than Shu, I liked Shu a little more. Mathiu knew that revealing a traitor would destroy the army's morale. He knew he had to do anything to win- including asking Leon for help. Mathiu was a great guy.

2nd: Shu
Shu had a more difficult time than Mathiu, because he was facing Leon Silverberg. And though he doesn't beat Leon, he manages to win the war in any case. He's willing to sacrifice himself to win the war, which is a great quality. Though at first he refuses to join the cause, he eventually is convinced by a combination of Apples begging annoying him, and Richmond's brilliant detective work. Shu may not be as smart as Mathiu, but he has some cool plans of his own- such as the Ridley plan I mentioned earlier. He manages to survive and become an important part of the Dunan Region. Shu also looks cool.

1st: Lucretia Merces
I'd rank her the highest of the main strategists, and perhaps 2nd behind all the strategists in the series. Lucretia is brilliant. She always knows what's up, which is more than I can say for most of the others. She's easy to convince to join you unlike the others as well. She gave me faith in female strategists again. She pisses off Siaeeds. Her plans are great. "Is our fortress necessary for our victory"? Brilliant! Great way to deal with the three pronged attack. When outnumbered, you have to out-think the enemy. She also knew how to get people on the Prince's side. Weather it was sparing the troops at hatred fortress, or setting a fire making people think that the Godwins were abandoning them. One of my favorite characters in the series. Lucretia planned ahead for everything. Too bad she wasn't in Suikoden 3. Being from the grasslands and all. She's very knowledgeable, and very good at what she does.

Tenkai Star[]

3rd: Luc
Luc doesn't like anyone, or anything. He's pretty emo throughout the entire series. Starting in Suikoden 1 and 2, and then getting worse in 3. "I HAVE TO LIVE FOREVER AND IT IS NOT FAIR! ALSO I GET WEIRD VISIONS!". Please. You're not as old as Geddoe. You don't have a right to complain about living forever. Oh no, you're a clone! Guess what! A lot of people have found better ways to deal with that than killing millions of people. Luc was admittedly good in battle though. He also kicked Sassarai's ass in Suikoden 2. But that doesn't make up for Masked Bishop Emo Kid.

2nd: Ted
Ted isn't so emo. Plus in Suikoden 1 he was pretty awesome. Fighting off Windy, helping out Tir and all that. I don't have much to say about him, because he's around for maybe 20 minuets in the entire series. Don't remember him well in Suikoden 4 either. But still better than Luc.

1st: Zerase
Mrs. "I'm better than all of you. Except you Jeane, I am humbly your *****." The woman gets points though for telling off the Pedophile Seer Leknaat, who likes to visit underage boys in the middle of the night. Why else do you think she puts up with Luc? She also gets points for being more useful than Luc and Ted in not only battle, but war as well. Her rune is kickass. She's not afraid to tell people like it is- except well for Jeane. Zerase is pretty cool, and easily the best of this star. Though there's not much competition really.

Tenyu Star[]

4th: Tal
I don't even remember Tal. He was a nice guy who was a friend of Lazlo's, and who's importance to the plot seemed minimal. He's nothing like the other stars- whom were all fairly important. Seriously, did he do like anything after the earlier parts of the game? I mean really?

3rd: Dupa
The Lizard Clan Chief. Or the new one. I never was a fan of the Lizard Clan. I guess that makes me racist. But hey, I like the other clans. Well not the duck clans. Never have been much of a fan of bipedal animals in video games that aren't licensed. Dupa was better than Tal because he had a bigger part, but that's about it. Dupa was an angry lizard. Kind of strange. Would've been nicer if they were made a lot more human. It seemed like the Suikoden creators were like "Hey lets make Animal Clans! and let's make them all backwards nations!"

2nd: Craig
I was surprised Craig wasn't the same star as Joshua. They're just so similar. Both leaders of Dragon Calvary's. Both have problems with their dragons/dragon horses. But I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Craig helped out big time when he joined. The Dragon Calvary and Beavers just owned the freaking water. I mean the beavers were enough, but then they added the Dragon Calavry, and they were just awesome. But Craig can't really match up to Humphrey. But then again, few can. Still an awesome guy.

1st: Humphrey
Humphrey is one of the best characters in the first two games. Though I wasn't a fan of him in the first game, I was in the second (despite how hard he was to recruit). Humphrey is powerful. He takes in Futch, who's pretty cool. He's one of the original members of the Liberation Army. He helps convince Joshua to join the Liberation Army. He's not hotheaded like Flick. He's actually pretty calm and collected despite his appearance. He's very useful in battle, though I wouldn't say he's the most useful. Still, a great character, and easily one of the best stars of destiny.

Tenyu Star[]

5th: Hauser
Hauser gets last because he's friends with Jess. Never did like Jess. He's kind of an arrogant punk. By the time Hauser joins your army, the war is almost over. I mean really. He couldn't have helped out earlier? Of course not. Never really been a fan of Hauser.

4th: Kasim
Kasim is an alright character. His mustache is pretty cool I guess. He too joins late in the game. He's an enemy for the good portion of the game, like a majority of the enemy generals. I mean with all the defections, you have to wonder why the other side has any morale at all. Kasim loses points for being one of the Generals of the Scarlet Moon Empire. You remember the play in Suikoden 3 featuring them? Yeah, that just pisses all over what Tir McDohl did. But he's not really to blame for that. Not a bad character, but not one of the more important ones either.

3rd: Izak
I thought he'd be the Chikei star, but I guess not. Not sure why he was given this star. Suikoden IV doesn't make much sens anyway though. His importance to the storyline is also minimal. But he's better than Kasim because he's a warrior and a gardener. Why he couldn't fight with a hoe was beyond me. I mean he plants flowers. Meh, I don't really have much else to say about him.

2nd: Yuber
Yuber is awesome, except for his "I'm trying my hardest to be badass with the maggot comments" comments. I mean he associates with Albert Silverberg and Leon Silveberg, can he really be that bad? He's pretty good in battle, and has an awesome true rune. I'd like to see him kill a main character. His Michael Jackson look might be better than his "DARK KNIGHT" look. I think he'd be better off as Creepy than Majorly Evil like they have him. I mean that hat screams Pedophile. He probably has to register. It's why he and Leeknat don't like each other, and why he was working for Windy. They both met in Pedophiles Anonymous and fought over the Emo Luc.

1st: Galleon
Big gap between Galleon and the rest. He's loyal, he's strong, and he's got one hell of an ex-wife. One thing I love about Galleon is that he tells Miakis the truth about the Sun Palace invasion. That scene is my favorite scene in the history of anything. The truth about Georg Prime revealed. That makes Galleon ten times more awesome than any of these other guys. Galleon is also not useless in battle. Nor is he useless in war battles. He's easily the best of his star. He feels he betrayed his country, but nobody else feels that way. I understand why he did what he did, and I know I don't hold it against him. He's one of the toughest old guys in the series. One of the cooler Queen's Knights too.

Tenmou Star[]

5th: Shiba
It's a Lizard guy. The one that joins Geddoe's team for a little while. Never have been a fan of the Lizard Clan. They just seem so prehistoric. Why couldn't they be more modern? I mean just because they're lizards.... But I digress. Shiba was pretty important to the storyline at least. At least the Lizards were very useful in battle.

4th: Kwanda
Okay, I hate the elves as much as the next guy for their blatant racism, but Kwanda took things too far with his burning mirror. He gets points for being the first enemy general to turn (He did it before it was cool). But honestly the other three guys are just better. I don't think I ever used him. I never liked his name or his looks. He's just kind of meh there.

3rd: Axel
This guy knows what's up with Elves, without taking things too far. He's also a pretty cool swordsman. I think I used him quite a bit, but it's been a while since I went sailing through Suikoden IV. He's kind of a jackass at first, but after he joins not so much. Better than Kwanda and Shiba, but not quite as good as the other two.

2nd: Boz
When I saw Boz, the first thing I thought was "VIKTOR!". Why this guy wasn't playable is beyond me. I mean he looks like he'd be good in battle. But he's at least pretty good in War battles. I like his personality. It's hard to believe this guy is a lord. I like how he turns on the Barrows family. One of my favorite scenes with him is in Haud, where he runs into the Prince, after looking for him by going from bridge to bridge looking for the prince. Good ol' Boz. Loyal to Falena entirely. The big guy's town is an easy one to miss in the game if you're not looking for it.

1st: Kiba
Kiba is awesome. He's a very loyal warrior, who thinks before he fights. But his loyalty is to King Agares. He fights against you for a good portion of the game, coming up with good strategies to fight against Shu and the Dunan Unification Army. It's not until he hears "King Luca Blight" that he joins your side. He no longer has loyalty towards highland after that. He also has a cool last name. Kiba is one of my favorite stars in Suikoden 2. He goes off to die in battle in order to ensure the victory of the army. Now that is loyalty. I was kind of saddened by his sudden death. I felt for Klaus, and I felt we had lost a great fighter. But the war was far from over.

Teni Star[]

4th: Pesmerga
Never have been a fan of Pes. He's like "Hey I'm the good Dark Knight." Yeah yeah. You're just joining to fight Yuber. Blah Blah Blah. I don't care. He seems to do a better job of following Neclord than Yuber. The guy has the traveling skills I assume of our dear scroll makers in the series. I don't really use him except in the first game when you have to go into Shasarazade Fortress. But except for that one time, I really don't use him.

3rd: Selma
One of the better elves in the series. She gets banished from the great tree for helping out the humans. She reminds me of a tough version of Sylvina. Her importance seems limited to Na-Nal. But then again that seems to be for most of the Suikoden 4 characters other than Lino, and Lazlo, and a couple of others.

2nd: Nakula
Nakula has a pretty interesting backstory- with his father having been killed by Sagiri and all. He joins Barrows in order to get into Falena. He later joins the Falenan Army so that he'll get his chance to kill Sagiri. Not one of the better Suikoden V characters though. I don't think I ever really used him at all. But he does at least introduce that interesting backstory to Oboro and company.

1st: Lucia
One of the few Suikoden 3 characters that'll be at the top. Lucia is awesome though. She and Chris would make a wonderful couple >_>. I like her whip. She was cool in Suikoden 2 too though. Lucia is probably the toughest of the Karaya. I actually used her in battle quite a bit. She's smarter than most of them too. She was a major part of the storyline at least. She was able to vouch for the Silverberg name, which helped create the second fire bringers. The debates go on as to who the father of Hugo is. I think it's funny some people think it's Riou. That theory just makes me laugh every time.

Tenei Star[]

5th: Aldo
This guy is obsessed with Ted too much for his own good. His importance to the storyline, again like most S4 characters, is minimal. It's just not a character oriented game really. I really have nothing else to say about Aldo.

4th: Yuiri
An Alma Kinan girl which makes her pretty cool to begin with. The town screams LESBIANS! At least in fanfiction it does. Yuiri is more likely to be butch though. She's the least attractive of the Alma Kinan girls. The one thing I have against the Alma Kinan is that they let Yun die. And I know Chris Lightfellow agrees with me.

3rd: Sierra
Sierra is one awesome vampire. Sadly she's only been in one of the games, which is really unfortunate. She's hot too! >_>. Anyway, Sierra is pretty useful in battle, and is a pretty major part of the storyline. She contributes to the downfall of Neclord, which is a plus in my book. . Neclord is awesome, but we don't need to see him in every single game.

2nd: Gremio
"I insist that I take up the sixth spot in your entourage young master". Gremio was annoying like that, but his sacrifice solidified his spot in the top 2 for this star. As a bodyguard, he did what he had to in order to protect Tir McDohl, which is extremely admirable. The Gremio Scene is still sad today. Gremio is also a good cook, which is a plus. But he's not quite my favorite for this star. His was the first Suikoden Sacrifice, and his was the first Suikoden revival.

1st: Lyon
I like Lyon a lot. She's awesome. A tragic past- being trained by Nethergate, and picked up by the awesome King Ferid (best royal in the entire series imo). Queens Knight in training, she is the Prince's loyal bodyguard. Her loyalty matches that of Gremio. One thing I like, is that she not only protects the prince, but his intentions as well. Which is something that Gremio doesn't seem to do early on in the game. Lyon is stabbed by Dolph later in the game which is sad. She can be brought back to life, or die, depending on if you got Genoh or not. Well for me that's what it depended on. Stupid turtle. Lyon is awesome. Great bodyguard. Great character. She and the Prince make a great pair.

Tenki Star[]

5th: Reinbach
This guy just ruined the whole joke. I'm sorry, but he did. And for that, he gets last. Besides, the others are just so much better than him. Suikoden IV wasn't too character oriented in the first place. So meh. I put him last.

4th: Warren
Warren shows up near the end of the game, asking for you to come and save him. And while the guy who comes to see the leader of the liberation army is cool, Warren is not so much. I forgot he was playable until I looked it up. He joins so late in the game. He becomes important only after the game is over. They were like "Hmmm we don't have anyone to really lead the senate... hey let's make it a playable character.". Warren was okay, but not that great or memorable.

3rd: Salome
Salome is the 2nd smartest strategist in Suikoden 3, which may not be saying much but still. His contacts make him pretty cool really. Aside from that, there's not much else to say about him. He's a Zexen Knight with a crappy haircut. The fact that he knows Geddoe puts him above Warren. But his contacts solidify his spot above him.

2nd: Talgeyl
The old man from Lordlake. The new leader, and one of the better politicians from the game. Despite Lordlake's destruction at the hands of the queen, he doesn't hold the grudge the rest of the town holds. Though he is too stubborn to accept help even from the Prince. With nowhere to turn, Lordlake only chooses a side when the Prince brings water back to Lordlake. I kind of feel bad for Lord Rovere, but really it's all the fault of the Barrows. After learning the truth, that was just disgusting. Talgeyl was pretty cool throughout the game though. One of the better old guys.

1st: Teresa
I really like Teresa. The mayor of greenhill has a lot of heart. She really cares for her people, perhaps more than any other leader in the series. I think that she's the closest Dunan has to a true leader. The Matilda Knights were led by morons. Two River had it's quarrels. But Greenhill was ready for anything. They might not have been military might, but they were academic might. Her and Shin make a great couple. The people of the town just love her, and it's easy to see why. She's willing to sacrifice herself to save them. When she leaves Greenhill at their request, she promises to return some day, and fulfills that promise. Great character.

Tenfu Star[]

6th: Eresh
"Hello I am Eresh, and I am here to tease you about Jeane. Also, I am mysteriously mysterious. Here's a bonus dungeon, now enjoy". That sums her up pretty well. Pretty cool skills, but otherwise meh.

5th: Chiepoo
A talking cat? And a merchant? Still better than Eresh, but not better than the others for the stars. This writeup feels kind of short. He's one of the earlier characters in the game too. But his reasons for joining were kind of meh at best. That game just wasn't character oriented at all.

4th: Kun To
Kun To is okay. He plays a minor part in the Liberation Army. He delivers the fire spears, and then kind of drops off into the shadows. Why he owes Tai Ho favors I don't know. He's from Kirvo, aka the town where nobody talks to each other. I mean seriously. "I need soap. I could go next door and ask to borrow some, but I'm not going to do that.". FETCH QUEST CITY would be the towns name if I were naming it.

3rd: Euram
Euram is a jackass, but he still provides comic relief. How he shares DNA with Luserina is beyond me. The guy just hates the prince. All because his father did some stupid things. Eventually Euram realizes his errors, and joins the True Falenan Army. Eurams greatest trick is the whole prophet thing. That's really funny. I mean the guy does his share of stupid things, but that really takes the cake. Gotta like Euram though.

2nd: Jimba
Jimba is pretty cool. For one, he's Chris Lightfellow's father, and for two, he's on good terms with Lucia. Which just makes him awesome. He's also good friends with Geddoe. So what holds him back? He gets killed like a *****. I mean seriously. He doesn't die heroically like Gremio even. He just gets killed. They were like "Hmm we need a main character to die- oh yeah Jimba.". If he had lived, he'd probably take the number one spot instead.

1st: Nina
Nina is pretty cool. She fights with a freaking backpack for one. That's just awesome. She also helps out Teresa, which earns points in my book. She has a thing for Flick which kind of loses her points in my book, but hey what can you do? She seems to always have a crush on someone. Including Nash. Nina is pretty awesome, and I like her only slightly more than Jimba. The fact that she doesn't die gives her the edge here.

Tenman Star[]

5th: Juan
Juan is the most useful member of Thomas's chapter, it's just too bad that he starts out asleep. I know he becomes useful later on but by then you can pretty much pick your party as you wish. Juan's also kind of a jerk to Thomas. Though I'm no Thomas fan, Juan could've at least had a little faith in him, even if there was little reason to.

4th: Paula
Another "Hey I'm here at the beginning" character. An elf too. Exiled from her forest. Which you'd think would be a bigger deal, but meh. She manages to get back in the end anyway. Not my kind of character, but better than Juan for her role in the beginning. Never have been a fan of most of the Elven Suikoden characters.

3rd: Cleo
Cleo is another bodyguard of Tir McDohl. She looks manlier than Gremio. She uses some magic, which is useful. At least until you get a better mage. But she can deal some decent damage in other ways too. So she's not useless. Very important to the storyline. At least she breaks many stereotypes. It's just too bad that she couldn't have been a little more attractive. She gets what I believe in the series first rune to equip. Woo!

2nd: Dinn
Dinn is awesome. He's powerful, he's smart, and he's good looking. Not to mention unlike Boz he's actually playable! He's a good fighter. He has a unique rune. He's in my party pretty often believe it or not. He seems to not side with the Prince until the Prince comes and helps him out though, and he loses points for that. Though I guess the lord of the area he's from (forgot what it's called atm) wouldn't let him I suppose. Still he's a pretty cool Falenan and has dealt more with Armes than the other characters.

1st: Sigfried
The unicorn gets major points for his storyline as to how to recruit. Tengaar manages to get the Kobold Village Elder to send out Kobolds on dangerous errands to help Hix out. And then low and behold Sigfried, who scares the living daylights out of Hix. Awesome. Makes him better than the rest of these guys. I put Sigfried here instead of the other animals, because he's just that awesome. Go Unicorn! I never did use him in battle though.

Tenko Star[]

4th: Sgt. Joe
Never did like this duck. It's like they took Viktor and turned him into a duck (If Viktor were in fact an animal, he'd be a bear. And living in America.) But I digress. Sgt. Joe is actually pretty good in battle- and I didn't mind too much that he was a duck. Just that he was serious so much of the time. I expect comic relief anytime I see an Anthropomorphic Duck. Not a serious warrior. He's on good terms with Lucia but meh.

3rd: Kika
She's a pirate, so she automatically gets cool points. But then she helps get an audience with a terrible tactician. So she loses points. She joins early, so she gains points, but she's not too useful in any case so she loses points. She's a pirate, so she should be better, but sadly she isn't. A lot of wasted potential with her. Still, she's not a duck, and is a pirate, so she gets 3rd on this list.

2nd: Viktor
Viktor the bear. He's usually good for the first maybe 10 minutes of a game, before he goes all "I'm a wanabe badass!". I mean I liked how he bribed the soldier in Gregminster. And I liked his relationship with Annabell. But when it comes to Neclord, he just tries way too hard. If it wasn't for that he'd probably top this list. But that's not the case. Besides the other guy is awesome in any case. Viktor forces his way on to your team too much too. But at least he's useful. And the star dragon sword is awesome too. Not a bad character, I just like the other two better.

1st: Kyle
Kyle is awesome. He's a bit of a ladies man. He has a thing for Sialeeds. And even King Ferid the Awesome doesn't trust him around his sister-in-law. Kyle is useful in battle, both with magic and with weapons. He's a significant part of the story too, as he's a Queen's Knight. He helps out the army as much as he can. When he first escapes from the Sun Palace, he comes to help out the Prince, which is still pretty early on. Not the best of the Queens Knights. He has a good scene with Jeane at the beginning of the game. He's the best ladies man of the series imo. At least that I can remember at the moment. He provides a decent amount of comic relief too. Which is nice. Best of this star pretty easily. Would be closer if Viktor didn't try so hard.

Tensyo Star[]

5th: Kenneth
Is it just me or are the Knights from the beginning of Suikoden IV essentially the same, with slightly different backstories? I mean really. They could've done a better job here. Major friend of Lazlo. I'd like to have seen them stop him from using his True Rune a little more. Maybe stop him from getting a crappy strategist. Or... I don't know. They just could've been a bit more involved instead of carbon copies of each other with a couple of differences that don't matter so much.

4th: Tomo
Tomo's not so bad of a character. She's Tsai's daughter. She's one of the only characters who can be under different stars. I always select Kasumi, so I put her under this star. She just wants her father and mother to reconcile. I can't blame her. So she joins the Dunan Unification Army. Other than that she's not very important to the story. She's playable. She's easy to recruit. I just don't use her much.

3rd: Hugo
Hugo is actually pretty awesome. The fact that he's 3rd here speaks more about the other characters than him. Hugo is whom I believe to be the canon flame Champion. Chris getting the True Water Rune, and Geddoe keeping the True Lightning Rune makes the most sense. Hugo isn't the Tenkai star unfortunately. I think they could've done Suikoden III better if they did it that way, and maybe avoided going for unique. Why change what works? Hugo is pretty tough in battle. He's got some meh friends. But I can't hold that against him. He doesn't like Zexen, which is understandable. I think he should've just been the main character, without all this other stuff.

2nd: Zegai
Zegai is awesome. He fights for Euram, which loses him points. But he later helps the Prince out, which is cool. Stopping him from getting executed is awesome, and afterwards he starts to hate the Barrows, which is even more awesome. Zegai is tough in battle. He's your Skill trainer. He's not too hard to recruit after he leaves for the first time. Zegai also fights with a spear. I actually like the scene where George takes note of Zegai's skills. How he's not overconfident about his reach. Zegai was born in Armes, but he was not an Armes Citizen. He was just a nomadic hunter. I'd love to run into a group of these guys when we go to Armes.

1st: Valeria
Valeria and her Falcon Rune take first place for this star. I used her, and I used her a lot. The falcon rune works wonders on a lot of things. She's another defector. There's a lot of them in Suikoden I. But she also does it before it's cool. She has an awesome fighting style that she got from Roundier Haia (I'd like to meet him in a future Suikoden. Possibly as a star of destiny). She tried to save the Stupid Elves, but the Stupid Elves wouldn't listen to her, because they were stupid, and thus got fried by the burning mirror. I liked Valeria, though not enough to take her over Kasumi in Suikoden 2. Still, an awesome character that introduced us to the wonderful Falcon Rune. Major points for that.

Tentritsu Star[]

5th: Bazba
Another Lizardman. They're all strong, but they're also so... barbaric? I suppose that's the best way to describe them. They just none interest me I guess. I'm not going to rant about them anymore, so I'll just move on to the next guy, and give Bazba a short writeup.

4th: Isato
An elf! One that's not terribly racist at that. I actually kind of like Isato. He seems to like Haswar which is good. Isato is pretty cool that way. He just happens to be in a star with quite a few awesome characters in it. I really do like Isato. I don't use him very much, but he's one of the coolest elves around. Again, his rank doesn't mean that he's a bad character. He just happens to share a star with some more awesome people.

3rd: Griffith
I like Griffith. He's tricked by Mathiu Silverberg into thinking the Liberation Army is just training. Which is absolutely hilarious. He actually cares about his men, which is cool. He's also a part of Mathiu's plan of infiltrating the castle. He seemed like one of those who'd change sides to save lives- which is nice really. He wasn't a general, so I don't quite classify him in the "Turned after it was cool" list. His part of the game is one of the more enjoyable in the series. Quite humorous I must say.

2nd: Fitcher
Fitcher is awesome. He's a messenger from two river who takes incentive to meet with the Dunan Unification Army. Fitcher also helps the party get into Greenhill, which is a cool plot point. Nobody in two river believes Fitcher when he says that Riou is the leader of the Dunan Unification Army, which is funny as well. Then he gets his wallet stolen by a Winger. Which is great, because he kind of deserved it. Fitcher is awesome, great plot character really.

1st: Ramada
Ramada is one of the best Suikoden IV characters in my humble opinion. First, he has two Ninjas which makes him awesome. Not only that, but he offers Lazlo his own life in order to spare his ninjas, which is similar to Griffith He quickly agrees to work with Lino En Kuldes, and Lazlo. One of the first major characters to do so, too. Ramada is a spy for the Island Nation Army, which is one of the firsts in the series- the good guys having a spy in the enemy camp. Ramada really takes care of his two Ninjas which is great. He's like a father figure for them. The only thing I don't like about him is that he prevents the crappy strategist from dying. But still, I won't hold that against him too much. Ramada is awesome, and he looks awesome too. One of the few Suikoden IV characters that I really liked.

Tensyo Star[]

4th: Travis
I honestly don't remember Travis. Was he even semi-important? No really, I don't remember Travis at all. Yeah...

3rd: Yun
I'm all for human sacrifices, and cute Alma-Kinan girls. But Yun gave her life for nothing. She shows up to take Chris to the village, and then goes off to die. Yeah, real great there Yun. I do like her resolve, but I feel as if she shouldn't have died. I think she should have fought along side Chris, providing more help that way. But no, Suikoden III had to go the "Let's kill a lot of people" route. Agh. Did Luc write the script or something?

2nd: Haswar
Haswar is cool for an old lady. Love Lyon's reaction when she said she used to take a bath with the prince. When he was a baby! She loves cute things. I think she'd have made a good queen. She seems like the only member of the Prince's family that can truly support him. Which is kind of sad. But it's a good thing she's there. Well there's also Auntie Bernadette. But Haswar is a member of the Falenan Royal family. Haswar also likes the beavers. She's a nice lady, and very helpful.

1st: Clive
Clive is the man. Though the first time I went through the game, Elza was an afterthought. Clive is one of the few gunners in the game. And he fights with the awesome Storm. Clive should've been in Suikoden III. He'd have made that game significantly better. His role in the first Suikoden game was kind of limited, but he had that whole sidequest to himself in Suikoden II that made him awesome. His duels with Elza are awesome, and are some of the best moments in the series. Really Clive may be the best character in the whole series. I like how the first game eludes to Elza. That's thinking ahead if I ever saw it. You can't deny Clive's awesomeness. The Howling Voice guild is awesome. One of the best organizations in the entire series. Not to mention introducing an awesome long range weapon like the gun.

Tenan Star[]

4th: Snowe
Snowe was fairly important to the story of Suikoden IV, and yet he was a complete jerk. He's kind of emo too. He hates Lazlo because people like Lazlo, and not him. Which is understandable, because he's a complete *******. I can't stand his father. How he becomes commander of anything is beyond me. His best moments are towards the end of the game. I wanted to kill him off so much early on...

3rd: Edge
I don't like Edge either. He has the Star Dragon sword, but really nothing else going for him. Not a fan of him, though I know a lot of people like him. He's fairly unimportant to the plot. He just happens to join. No real alleigance to anyone except the Star Dragon Sword. Honestly they should've just put Viktor in again if they wanted to use the Star Dragon Sword. Older Viktor would've been pretty cool. So would've older Flik. Better than Edge anyway.

2nd: Flik
Flik was pretty cool. Though he treated Tir McDohl pretty rotten at first, he's really not so bad, just a tad overrated. Flik is from warrior's village, which makes him pretty cool. He was in love with Odessa, and Nina had a crush on him. Not a bad guy at all. I loved his scenes in Greenhill, as the kids bodyguard. As a mercenary he was awesome. Surprised to see that him and Viktor got along. I felt bad for him after Odessa died, but I think that he could've gone easier on Tir. Odessa believed in him, and for good reason. Flik eventually comes to. He's a bit hotheaded, and doesn't think strategically enough. But that changes somewhat.

1st: Belcoot
Belcoot is the best of this star. I'd like to have seen him or Richard have won the games. Belcoot is pretty tough. Though I don't get what he sees in Marina. Belcoot really helps the Prince out a lot of times. Belcoot is a good swordsman who studied under Roundier Haia. I wonder if he ever met Valeria. He was born a gladiator, and has connections to Morgan from Suikoden I which is awesome. I loved how they made a connection like that. Belcoot is a genuinely nice guy. He'd have been cool as commander of the Queen's Knights. He can't handle his liquor very well, and can be fairly oblivious at times. He looked up to Ferid, very understandably so.

Tenyu Star[]

5th: Rachel
The Suikoden IV characters just aren't involved very much in the game. It's kind of sad really. I didn't dislike Rachel, in fact it's cool that she's an ancestor of Camille. I just never really cared about her or Cedric very much.

4th: Camille
Camille is just like Rachel, only she's chasing Gremio. She forces her way into your party early on, but then is kind of just an after thought. She gets points for becoming one of the Generals of the Republic though. And that alone puts her above Yumi. Yeah. Not much to say really.

3rd: Yumi
The cutest of the Alma Kinan girls. And one that doesn't die. She's obviously the girl in her relationships >_>. Err. Yumi isn't very important to the plot either. But still, she at least has some stake in the whole war. That's a good thing. I like her a lot better than the other Alma Kinan girls. But still, not the best of her star.

2nd: Tsai
Tsai brings the fire spears in Suikoden II, and helps you earn some Potch at least. He also has a pretty cool daughter. I wish we could've met his wife. Oh well. He helped initially defeat Solon Jhee (that's not too hard, if Apple can manage it). Tsai just isn't that important after certain points in the game though. I rarely used him. I know I didn't use him in the OMG AWESOME Luca Blight battle. Not once in the ten times that I've done it. Too many others to choose from.

1st: Norma
Norma and her relationship with Ernst is awesome. She's no Furry though. Ernst is a guy. And her moments with him as a man are sweet. I like how she gets the math problem at the beginning wrong. I also like how she appears long before you can recruit her. It makes it a little more realistic. I like how she joins your army too. I remember one time thinking I missed her. Norma is awesome. I don't use her that much, but still. An awesome character.

Tengu Star[]

5th: Helga
Oh look, it's another character who joins for the sake of having 108 characters. That's the problem with Suikoden IV I think. Suikoden I was able to pull it off well, because a bunch of characters would often join at once. But Suikoden IV decided to try some one at a time, and they never really did much except join so you could have 108. Which is sad really. They should've put more effort. But I guess that effort just went into making Suikoden V awesome.

4th: Jess
I don't like Jess. He's kind of a punk. He forces Riou and Jowy to do something dangerous, thus setting up Jowy's betrayal. Then he kind of disappears for a while, and blames Riou for Annabell's death. Which just isn't the case. Jess is kind of like Snowe in some ways, though a little less sniveling. He also fled with a good number of soldiers, and Hauser. Never really liked Jess, but at least he had some storyline importance.

3rd: Kreutz
You know, when two animals are at the top of a star with three humans, you know somethings up. Kreutz at least has a history with Humphrey, and Humphrey is cool. He jumps at the chance to fight against King Barbarossa. I wonder if he ever got his ass kicked by Georg Prime. Anyway, Kreutz is only slightly better than Jess so meh.

2nd: Ax
It's a baby dragon horse. It's allied with Nick, who's not quite yet a member of the Dragon Calvary. Ax has potential in the future, but for the time being, he's not going to take first place. Still being a dragonhorse is significantly cooler than these other guys.

1st: Fubar
The best member of Hugo's party. Gotta love Fubar. He's very powerful. He's Hugo's Mount. And he's a freaking Griffin. Griffins are awesome, and Fubar is no exception. One of the better animal characters in the series honestly. He also seems to understand humans fairly well. I actually liked him better than most of the cast of Suikoden III and IV which I felt were kind of weak.

Tensoku Star[]

4th: Cedric
Like I said earlier, I don't really like Cedric. He's a food thief (practically) who just happens to join your army. He's only good for the rune that lets you run fast (I think that's what he has, it's been a while). Cedric has little to no importance on the story so he gets last here.

3rd: Stallion
I actually like Stallion- quite a bit. His importance is minimal I'll admit. He's just a really fast runner. Though somehow Riou is able to beat him in a race. All he does is run though. That's like his main purpose in life. It's useful once or twice in the first game, but not so much in the second. But at least he's not difficult to recruit.

2nd: Cathari
Cathari is awesome. One, she's a member of the Howling Voice Guild. And two, she knows Lucretia (implied lesiban relationship >_>). Cathari is very useful in battle. I like how she deals with the elves. She's a bit of a bluffer. She'd make a good poker player. She has the potential to bump up a spot if she ever appears in another Suikoden game. But I don't see that happening honestly. Her connection to Lucretia is cool at least.

1st: Nash
Nash is kind of iffy. There are debates about who his Missus is (I'm assuming it's Sierra). He's a bit of a flirt, which is cool. He seems the most involved in the whole Suikoden III storyline. Nash was trained by the Howling Voice Guild- which earns him many points. I believe he was also a spy for Sassarai, though I might be mistaken. I believe he reported to him in any case, which convinced him to joint he Grasslands in the fight against Luc. He also had a way of dealing with Chris Lightfellow which was awesome. One of the best characters from Suikoden 3, who has quite the backstory for someone who's appeared in only a single game. I feel that we'll see him again in a future installment.

Teni Star[]

4th: Keen
Keen, 4th? Keen is awesome. He's an assassin, and his confessions are EASILY the best part of Suikoden IV. Those were far more enjoyable than anything else in the game. I actually liked them more than the theater in Suikoden III. The confessions need to return to Suikoden VI. They're just awesome. The guy had minimal importance on the story so he gets last of this awesome star.

3rd: Aila
When someone as awesome as Aila is ranked third, you know the star is awesome. Seriously the Teni Star may just have the best overall characters in the series. Sadly the other two people are just so awesome that she can't be ranked any higher. Her love for Soda is awesome. I like how she kind of gets involved with Geddoe's group. It's nice to see a bit of a change for a character in Suikoden III. She fits well with them. Especially Jacques, who's also awesome. I wish I could put her higher, but alas I cannot. The other three are just THAT awesome.

2nd: Kage
Kage is awesome, don't get me wrong. He just can't top Georg ****ing Prime. Kage's allegiance is for sale, and Tir McDohl is wiling to pay the price. He helps the liberation army in Suikoden I, and the Highland Army in Suikoden II. He gives Jowy the tools necessary to kill Annabelle. This guy is pretty into the plot. He creates his own breed of Ninja that have loyalty only to money. Kage is incredibly awesome, but Georg Prime manages to surpass him quite easily.

1st: Georg Prime
The best character in the series easily. Give this guy some cheesecake, he's earned it. Deathblow Georg has been involved in plenty of things. In the first Suikoden Game, he didn't participate but he was one of the six generals of the Scarlet Moon Empire at one point. He wasn't there to fight Tir McDohl, because then the Scarlet Moon Empire would've won. In Suikoden II he's recruitable late in the game. Because he'd destroy Luca Blight and Luca couldn't say that he killed by the thousands, but it took hundreds to kill him. He also helped the doctor escape. He's just that cool. He was in the grasslands at one point. I guess Luc knew better than to go there when Georg Prime was around. He was good friends with Ferid too. Then you have Suikoden V, which Georg had some awesome moments. Like with the sleeping Dragon Calvary, and the Sun Palace Invasion. Georg Prime isn't the Chuck Norris of the Suikoverse- Chuck Norris is the Georg Prime of the real world.

Tensatsu Star[]

5th: Gau
Never did like this star very much. Gau is just a weirdo who shows up to join your party. The only good thing about him, is he's powerful. But Suikoden isn't hard enough to use just anyone. Gau is kind of meh, and so is the rest of this star for the most part.

4th: Hanna
It's... Hanna. The girl who joins you after Luca Blight destroys a town. Yeah, there's not much to her either. Not a fan of this star like I said. Hanna isn't very important, and I don't have much to say about her.

3rd: Fu Su Lu
The Tiger man. Pretty useful in battle, but aside from that? He's kind of meh. No importance in the storyline, and not much backstory either.

2nd: Hallec
Hallec is actually pretty cool. He joins Hugo in his fight. The guy is very barbaric, but at least that's to be expected with Suikoden III which is filled with Barbarians. He has a better reason for joining than the rest of them at least. Still he can't match up to Ernst.

1st: Ernst
Ernst is simply put awesome. His relationship with Norma is great, and makes him far more interesting than these other characters. On the night of a full moon, he resumes his human form. He and Norma are trying to find a way to return him to normal. Ernst is awesome, and easily the best of this mostly-mediocre star.

Tenbi Star[]

4th: Gretchen
I honestly don't remember Gretchen very well. Apparently she became one of Lazlo's bodyguards. But other than that, I don't know much about her. Not a huge fan of the Suikoden IV characters to be honest, though some of them were pretty cool. Meh to Gretchen.

3rd: Kirkis
The Elf boy who asked humans for help. He gets points for trying. He becomes the Chief of the Elves after the Dunan Unification war. Not a bad character really. One of the few truly understanding elves. I honestly have nothing against him, it's just that the other two people who share his star are awesome really.

2nd: Killey
Killey is awesome. He's interested in the Sindar. He and Lorelai are rivals. Killey helped Marscal Godwin in Suikoden V, before helping the Prince. He's pretty mysterious, and one has to wonder what his connection to the Sindar is. I'm sure we'll find out before the series ends. Which gives him the potential to really move up. Is he himself Sindarian? Or what? He seems to have a lot of secrets like Jeane, and well most other recurring characters.

1st: Chris Lightfellow
Chris is one of the least barbaric characters in Suikoden III, which is nice really. I actually liked the three main characters pretty well (aside from of course Thomas, who is the 4th). Chris is the Silver Maiden (she hates being called that though). She doesn't see herself as a hero. She doesn't seem too pampered. She fights for Zexen, who are unfortunately corrupt. A very powerful, feared general. Her knights look up to her. And flirt with her. Though I'd prefer to see her end up with Lucia >_>. Err yeah. Anyway, Chris is pretty cool, and one of the better and more involved Suikoden III characters.

Tenkyu Star[]

5th: Anita
I've never really been a fan of Anita. It's kind of difficult to recruit her, and requires a bit of luck (at least in my case it has). Anita is my least favorite Falcon Rune Bearer. Anita isn't nearly as awesome as Valeria, or Belcoot. She's kind of a drunk. Not very attractive. And I think she has a peg leg. Not too important to the story either.

4th: Konrad
Konrad has a connection to Katarina at least. He has some backstory too, which is unusual for a Suikoden IV character >_> err anyway... Konrad isn't too bad. He has a connection to Glenn too who was pretty cool. But it's hard to rank most of the Suikoden IV characters very high because they have little to no importance in the storyline, and as such aren't so memorable.

3rd: Estella
The compulsive liar (who tells the truth about a village of all men thanks to Suikoden V). Estella isn't as cool as her apprentice Rody imo. She's pretty good with magic though. I don't use her very much. She kind of looks like a freak. I'd like to know why she's such a liar, but I guess it's just her nature.

2nd: Milich
Milich is a better villain than her is a hero. Some of his best moments are as a villain. He's responsible for Gremios death. I wanted to kill him during my first playthrough, but I knew better. Heck, the only person you can kill in this game without worrying is Grady. Other than that, you have to let everyone go, or join you. Oh yay. Loved the mention of Milich in Suikoden V. His play, and his part in the play, are entirely inaccurate in Suikoden III, which pisses me off. Tir McDohl deserves more credit.

1st: Shula Valya
Shula is to put it simply quite awesome. I'd love to see him in Suikoden VI. He's just that awesome. He invades estrise, but does his best to not damage the town. He knows how to play politics. He also knows how to deal with Alenia. He considered his invasion of Estrise a vacation. His troops were generally nice to the people. He told them to buy too many gifts so as not to cause an economic crisis for the people of Estrise. He's also Josephines brother which gives him a connection to someone you get in your party early on. Shula eventually joins the Prince after King Jalat decides to support him. Shula decides to see for himself the kind of man the Prince is. An awesome guy, I hope that more people in Armes are like him, than the other Armes people we've met.

Tentai Star[]

5th: Jewel
Oh wow, yet another generic from the beginning character. Worst of them all in my opinion, because she has like no backstory. I wouldn't even remember her if she wasn't one of the original four. Geez, Jewel is awful. Not the worst character in the series, but easily the worst of the original four in Suikoden IV. At least in my opinion she is.

4th: Feather
I never chose the octopus so I won't list Abizboah or whatever it's name is. Feather is pretty cool for a Griffon. Better than Jewel anyway. Never used him much though. Sort of just got him so I could have all 108. Yeah....

3rd: Cecile
Not really a big fan of Cecile. She's too young to be fighting, though I get her reasoning for it. She guards THAT castle very well. A little too well sometimes. Maybe if she were in a future Suikoden and a little more powerful, I'd like her. She looks up to Lady Chris a lot. I felt bad for her when she wasn't able to be the official guard of the castle. Sadly, she's not much of a warrior. Just a guard. Still, not the worst character from Thomas's chapters.

2nd: Shoon
Shoon is pretty cool. First off, he's a gladiator. And second off, you get to duel him. The duel between him and the Prince is awesome. Sadly he then disappears for the rest of the game. But he then reappears at the end, and helps out the prince a lot. He gets his wish in the end, with the abolishment of the gladiator system. I like his scenes in the beginning, where he's following the prince. It really gives him some character. I actually like Shoon, and would'v e loved to have used him earlier in the game.

1st: Pahn
Pahn is at the top of this star. I thought I wouldn't end up putting him here, but really he deserves it. Sure, at first he betrays Tir, and sticks with the empire. But in the end, he risks his life to fight Teo McDohl. Which is a feat in and of itself. He comes to believe in the young master as much as Cleo. He's also very connected to Gremio. An awesome bodyguard he is (though not the best bodyguard in the series obviously). I let Pahn die the first time through by accident. I then went back and leveled him up. Which can be a pain. He's always looking for adventure. I like how he foreshadows a bunch of events at the beginning, though it's kind of weird. Never use him after the Teo McDohl fight though.

Tenjyu Star[]

5th: Nanami
Oh look, another character that forces her way on to your team a lot. But she's useful, so I won't hold that against her too much. But it's her "Oh why does he have to be the leader" attitude that gets to me. Lay off Riou man. He's a good leader. LIke Grandpa Genkaku. Seriously. She needs to recognize that, even if she is his big sister. Her best moment in the game was kicking the soldiers asses in Highland. That was awesome. But other than that, she's kind of meh all around. Not a fan of her personality.

4th: Bernadette
The Prince's Aunt Bernadette. She's kind of meek, and easily pushed around by her father. She's Ferid's sister which should make her a lot cooler. But sadly it doesn't. She seems too young to be the Prince's aunt. She's a better strategist than Elanor Silverberg, because she is actually able to think. Not a bad character, and hey at least she doesn't force herself into the party all the time.

3rd: Katarina
Katarina is the assistant to Commander Glen. She's pretty cool because of that. She believes that Lazlo killed Glen though which isn't cool. Still, pretty important for a Suikoden IV character. She eventually joins Lazlo after coming to an understanding that he didn't kill Glen. Glen was her father too. Sadly Glen wasn't a playable character, though he was better than most of the characters in the entire game. Glen and Troy were both way underused. The game could've been better with them in it more prominently.

2nd: Sonya
Sonya gets points for dating Teo McDohl, but then loses them for joining you to watch you die. So I'm not too sure about her. Still, major points for dating Teo. She could've been Tir's step mother. She's one of the last generals you face in the game, and I believe the last character you recruit. You can meet her early on in the game too, which is cool at least. Teo was of course 16 years older than her. Into older men are we Sonya? >_> She was actually closer in age to Tir.

1st: Geddoe
Geddoe is freaking awesome. Best main character in Suikoden III in my humble opinion. Geddoe was just awesome. Tough guy, check. Eye patch, check. His mercenary team was cool too. Not a bad group at all. His connection to the flame champion was nice as well. Him **** slapping that guy in Lu Buque earns him major points too. One of my favorite Suikoden III characters. It'd be nice to see him in another game. Though he's not quite Georg Freaking Prime. Still, Geddoe is awesome, especially with his True LIghtning Rune.

Tenken Star[]

5th: Melville
Not a fan of the St. Loa Knights to be honest. They're just a bunch of kids who happen to join your party. Too young to be joining war if you ask me. Suikoden 3's joins didn't make much sense to me. Melville is looking for adventure, which is fine. But honestly isn't he a little too young? He's 11 years old. What can he really do? He's weaker than Thomas, and at least Thomas provides you a castle. Ugh. Kids are fine, but ones that pretend to be knights are not so much fine. St. Loa Knights are probably my least favorite of the trios.

4th: Lo Seng
A bandit from the Sauna. Not a fan of this trio either, but at least they look cool. And at least they're older than 11. Not much I can say about them, because they're not too important to the storyline. But meh. I can't complain too much. Lo Seng is my 2nd favorite of this trio.

3rd: Anji
A Pirate! So he gets more points than the other two anyway. Has a connection to Tai Ho at least. My second favorite pirate of the trio interestingly enough. I wonder about him and Sonya sometimes. According to Suikosource, he once pinned a wedding dress up against her fortress to make fun of her for not being married. Hmmm...

2nd: Volga
I actually like this trio quite a bit. Volga raised Kyle which automatically makes him pretty damn cool. He's got a bit of a temper, and reminds me a little of Viktor. He's very different from the rest of this trio, and this trio is probably the least tight knit. Volga is my favorite of the Trio easily. He's not a violent person, though he's easily angered. Which is surprising and nice to see.

1st: Rina
Rina is awesome. She's hot too. The circus trio is probably my favorite of the trios. Rina's 'adult conversation' near the beginning of the game always makes me laugh. I have to wonder just what she did with that soldier. Oh Rina! It's sad this trio didn't appear in Suikoden III in order to make way for the St. Loa knights. Being from the grasslands, it'd have been nice to see them there. She would've only been 32, so still very hot. She's only 17 in Suikoden II which surprised me. I thought she was more like 19 or 20. Rina is probably my favorite of this Trio as well.

Tenhei Star[]

4th: Shiramine
It's a fisherman. He's useful to get another star- one of the mermaids. But outside of that? I really don't know. He seems so unimportant. Just a fisherman really. Not much else to really say about him. He's a pretty nice guy though. Lets Mermaids go free when he catches them. Not a bad guy. Just not that cool.

3rd: Lance
A dragonhorse, which is awesome. Just not... totally awesome. Lance is a cool dragonhorse, he's the one Roog rides. So yeah. Lance is pretty awesome for being a mount though. So I won't hold that much against him.

2nd: Ace
Ace is pretty cool. Some theorize he's the mini game guy in Suikoden II. That'd be cool. He's one of Geddoe's mercenaries. He's kind of the jokester and woman-obsessed guy of the group. Which makes him very mercenary like. I'm not a HUGE Ace fan, but still he's pretty cool as is most of Geddoe's Group. I like him the least of them all though.

1st: Tai Ho
Tai Ho is awesome. Without him, the liberation army would never have a headquarters. He loves that dice game- and so do I. Though sometimes it's hard to beat him at it. Tai Ho and Yam Koo go together well. Kimberly was his live-in wife. That's pretty cool, because Kimberly wasn't TOO Bad looking. Tai Ho is pretty awesome for a fisherman boat driver guy.

Tenzai Star[]

5th: Alanis
If you can't tell, I really don't like the St. Loa Knights. Maybe I'm the only one, I don't know. But a group of eleven year olds being Knights is kind of strange to me. Especially when they join a real war, and fight for real. Her family keeps moving. Oh boo freaking hoo. She's not even the most annoying of the St. Loa Knights, and yet she still bothers me greatly. Maybe if another Suikoden takes place when she's 17 or 18, I'll rank her higher. Until then though, she's a big meh for me.

4th: Kanak
Kanak is my least favorite of his trio. He looks the part of a pirate. But he's just kind of there for me. He doesn't have much in the way of personality or awesomness. He has a connection to Tai Ho, but all three of them do really. He doesn't seem to have anything interesting in his background, unless I'm missing something. I don't think I am. So he ranks 4th.

3rd: Lo Fong
Lo Fong is semi-attractive, so she gets the third spot. No real other reason that that. But it doesn't exactly earn her the 2nd or Top spot for this star. Lo Fong is probably my favorite of the trio. She has tastes for older men. Which is cool I guess. Not much to say about her though really.

2nd: Wasil
Good Ol' Wasil. My 2nd favorite of his trio. Wasil is the neutral guy in everything, and he's the one who called the Prince there. He's got some hilarious moments in his town, where he doesn't realize that the Prince is trying to be inconspicuous. That was always hilarious. Gotta like Wasil. He's awesome. Fairly important to the storyline too.

1st: Eilie
Eilie is my second favorite of her trio. She's also cute. Not as funny as Rina and her adult conversations. But still. Eilie would've been awesome in the 3rd game. She has a thing for Riou, and I always thought they'd make a good couple. How unfortunate. She's a good knife thrower too. I love her act in the beginning. It's nice to see a circus performer with talents that would help in battle. Eilie also joins you in your trip to Greenhill I think. Though maybe not automatically I don't remember. I just always take her. Eilie is awesome, and easily the best of her star. It's really too bad she wasn't in Suikoden III. She's only a year younger than her sister.

Tenson Star[]

4th: Ugetsu
Another fisherman, and a friend of the other fisherman in the game. Woo. Not really Woo. I mean it's not exciting. Like at all. I remember even less about him than I do the other guy. Suikoden IV did fairly poorly in the character department. But one or two of them shine. Ugetsu is not one of them.

3rd: Flail
It's a Dragonhorse. Rool's Dragonhorse. Dragonhorses are awesome. But really I can't rank them too high. You have three of them on your team, and you can't tell much of a difference between them other than how they look. Still, Flail is pretty awesome.

2nd: Yam Koo
Yam Koo is pretty cool. I like how he looks after his blood-oath brother. Though he doesn't like to get involved in stuff like Tai Ho does. He's an awesome fisherman, and the better looking of the two. Yam Koo is pretty cool. Not the best of his star, but certainly the 2nd best. You'll hear no complaints out of me about him. Maybe if he were more involved he'd be higher.

1st: Queen
Queen is my 3rd favorite of Geddoe's unit. Strangely she and Ace share the stars with Tai Ho and Yam Koo. Queen is the only female member of Geddoe's unit until Aila joins. Queen is nothing like Elaine. Queen and Joker seem to make a pretty good pair too, at least when it comes to double teaming Ace. Queen is a rough woman. She's tough, not frilly. But I think she kind of has a thing for Geddoe. She respects him a lot, I know that much. She's also really smart. Which contributes a lot to the unit.

Tenpai Star[]

5th: Elliot
Never liked Elliot or his nose. In fact he's the main reason I don't like the St. Loa Knights i suppose. He reminds me of the kid Arnold from The Magic School Bus. I never did like that portion of the game. Never did like the kid. He doesn't really fit in at all. He's the major reason I'd hate to see the St. Loa knights return.

4th: Lo Hak
Don't remember him too well of his trio. Least favorite of it though. Another Sauna bandit. Still he's not Elliot and his annoying nose so he gets points for that at least. Suikoden IV really needs more attention paid to it's characters. They're just not important or memorable.

3rd: Orok
Orok is kind of annoying. He sides with Godwin for a little bit, then realizes that he should side with the Prince. He seems a lot like a Godwin supporter too. He's the least favorite of that trio. It seems like a lot of these guys are, except the number 1 guy. Still, not that bad of a guy. Just way too much of a politician.

2nd: Leonardo
Hmm now that I think about it, Anji is my favorite of the pirate trio. I got him and Leonardo confused. Wow I'm so sorry about that Anji. But Leonardo is still pretty cool. I mean he's a pirate, he has to be. Not very important, but he rounds off the 3rd best of the trios.

1st: Bolgan
Bolgan is pretty cool. He has that fire breathing trick which is nice. But honestly, I don't use him very much. Bolgan is kind of on the not-so-smart side. But at least he tries. He's my least favorite of his trio- but his trio has Eilie and Rina. So that's pretty much a given. He'd make my favorite in many of these other Trios. He's pretty strong.

Tenrou Star[]

4th: Rakgi
Rakgi is okay. He's another kid. But he's at least got something of a backstory. He's the guide to the Obel Ruins. Which is okay I guess. I have to say that he's in my least favorite of these pairs. He has more backstory than most Suikoden IV characters though. So I'll give him credit there. Still I like the rest of these guys better.

3rd: Yoran
Yoran is the keeper of the dragonhorses, which makes him cool. He's never been around many women, which is kind of humerus. Yoran plays the dragonhorse flute in order to rescue the dragonhorses, which is one of the coolest things ever. I mean a flute that only dragonhorses can hear? It makes perfect sense. Nethergate couldn't exactly plan for that. Yoran is pretty cool, but this pair is my 3rd least favorite of the pairs.

2nd: Franz
Franz is a bug rider from Le Buque. I don't really like him that much, because he's kind of a jerk. But still, he's not a kid so he ranks above the other two. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of kids if you can't tell. I like this duo second best, but I like Iku a lot better than I like Franz. At least he has a pretty good reason for joining, and has a pretty cool mount in Ruby.

1st: Hix
Gotta love Hix. Total coward. You can't tell he's from warriors village. At least not very easily. Hix is... well Hix. He'd brave any danger for Tengaar- he just prefers not to. I can't blame him there exactly. But when ti comes down to it, Hix really would brave any danger for her. But he's not exactly warrior material. Tengaar seems much more like a warrior than him. The poor guy gets sent on a quest to obtain items to 'cure' Tengaar, which is hilarious. He doesn't realize what's happening until it's too late. But still, Hix loves Tengaar and would do anything for her. He's awesome like that.

Tensui Star[]

4th: Rikie
Rikie is okay. Her husband had the True Rune of Punishment before Lazlo did. She doesn't mind if the rune chooses her next. Which is kind of weird. I wouldn't want that thing touching me. At least not how it was before it got to Lazlo. Other than that Rikie is just kind of there.

3rd: Nick
Nick can't play the flute worth crap. Wait a minute... Nick and Yoran are a pair here? Somethings not right. Nick is the only male of this star. He looks kind of weird, but he reminds me a lot of Futch. Nick has his own Dragonhorse- Ax. His bad flute playing skills actually came in handy. Nick is actually 11 years older than Futch, making him At least Nick as a kid joining makes sense, since the Dragon Calvary joins altogether. It's not like he's just some kid who winds up in your army.

2nd: Iku
Iku is attractive, and Nice. Why she's going out with Franz is beyond me. She and Hix are more similar than she and Tengaar. Iku is very quite compared to Tengaar. She's very friendly, but not quite outgoing. She sticks by her man though, at least. Iku is pretty awesome, though not quite the level of Tengaar. Iku also takes care of the Mantors. Most girls are afraid of giant bugs, but this one actually takes care of them.

1st: Tengaar
Tengaar is loud, and tough. She's very capable of getting elders of villages to send their townspeople on errands for her. She's kind of scary really. She's actually 2 years younger than Hix. But she sticks by him, and has faith in him. Sometimes a little TOO much faith. But I guess it's not unwarranted. He almost always comes through in the end. I hope we'll see Hix and Tengaar again sometime in the future. Granted Suikoden V took place when they were far too young. But Suikoden III... oh well. Hix and Tengaar are an awesome couple, and one of the best couples in the Suikoverse.

Tenbou Star[]

5th: Jango
Jango is nothing more than a tough looking guy. Yeah. That's about all there is to him. He looks pretty cool, and at least he looks like a warrior. But like most of the characters in Suikoden IV, he doesn't have much of a backstory, or much of a story at all. I wish they had spent a little more time in that department. Otherwise though, Jango isn't so bad.

4th: Scott
I've always liked trading. It's a lot of fun. Scott is pretty cool, because he has a parrot. But other than that he just wasn't too memorable. But at least he had a position at the castle. Suikoden III seemed to be a lot more about the merchants, so him joining the army made a lot of sense. Not a bad character really, just not awesome either.

3rd: Varkas
Varkas is a Mt. Seifu bandit who you have to beat early on in the game. Later in the game, you rescue him, and even later he'll join you. Which is pretty cool I guess. Varkas also appears in Suikoden II as a border guard, but without Sydonia unfortunately. Varkas is pretty cool, and I have nothing against him. Never really used him though.

2nd: Freed Y.
Freed is pretty cool if only for his part in the taking of South Window. Freed joins you pretty early much like Varkas and sticks with you the whole way. Freed's wife also joins the army which is pretty cool. His daughter shows up in Suikoden III. He doesn't like the Toran Republic, which is understandable considering their history with Jowston.

1st: Wilhelm
Wilhelm is one of the Lindwurm Mercenaries. He has Pink Hair which is funny. He's quite interested in the ladies. He reminds me of Viktor a lot. Except - surprise surprise - Wilhelm isn't playable. Which is unfortunate, but he's still awesome. He really does look the tough guy part. Him and Mueller make a good team. I really like him, and use him quite often in war battle. Plus he's required to get Richard. So yeah. Wilhelm is awesome. Not my favorite Mercenary, but still pretty cool.

Tenkoku Star[]

5th: Ernie
Ugh. I hate Ernie. She's ugly. She tries to be ultra brainy. She does help out once or twice though. But still, I just can't stand her. She's blech. One of my least favorite Suikoden girls. Easily. Very easily. I do like how you recruit her though. That was pretty cool. But otherwise? Big ol' Meh.

4th: Brec
Brec reminds me of one of the pirates from Peter Pan. All he cares about is getting fed. But at least he looks like a warrior. He and Jango make up a decent duo I guess. Not much else I can say about him because he's not all that important otherwise. Just one of the 108 stars you have to collect in Suikoden IV.

3rd: Sydonia
Sydonia is pretty cool. He's able to escape on his own. He's a Mt. Seifu bandit. He and Varkas stick together pretty well. He has a cool laugh too. Other than that moment though, he's not too important to the game. He also doesn't appear in Suikoden II like Varkas does. not a bad character really.

2nd: Yoshino
Yoshino is Freed's wife. She washes clothes. How nice. She's not a bad fighter actually. She's not all that important in the game I suppose. Though she and Freed are a nice couple. Would've been nice if Freed could've gotten her to move to South Window. Anyway, Yoshino isn't too bad, and has a pretty cool weapon.

1st: Mueller
Mueller is funny. Especially at the sacred games. "Heres a rope to hang yourself with. On second thought, I'll save it for myself". Good ol' Mueller. He trains Richard the best that he can. He killed Richard's abusive father, which is why Richard clings to him so much. He treats all of his unit the same way- with strictness. He agrees to join the Princes cause so that the Lindwurm Mercenary Brigade will get more fame by participating in a large scale war. Mueller is pretty damn awesome.

Tenkou Star[]

5th: Dios
I don't like Dios. He's kind of annoying. He's kind of uppity. I have no idea how he became chief of staff. I mean really. Does he look competent to you? I just can't stand Dios. He's not even useful once he does join your army. Not my kind of character, but i get the feeling a lot of Harmonian 1st Class Citizens are like him.

4th: Eileen
Eileen is Lepant's wife. She's pretty nice, but not very important in the long run. She's decent looking I suppose. That jackass that kidnaps her pretty much gets her and her husband to join you so woo! She's Sheena's mother. He looks more like her than his father, but he acts more like his father. Eileen is very polite. She's President Lepant's wife in Suikoden II as well (obviously!). Like they were going to split up or something.

3rd: Toma
Toma is a little brat at the beginning. He's ungrateful that you saved him from certain death. Sure the Queen decimated Lordlake. But the fact remains that it wasn't the Prince's decision to do so. I can understand his hate though. But he ends up seeing the Prince restore lordlake for himself, and then supports the Prince. A lot of people think Toma and Lym should get married some day. I'm not so sure, but still... Toma's not too bad for a kid.

2nd: Flare
I like Flare. One of my favorite Suikoden IV characters. She stays behind to fend off the Kooluk empire. Which is very admirable. She joins you late in the game, but she helps you out in more ways than most despite it. She's also Lazlo's sister. Sadly I don't think she ever learns that fact. She's moderately attractive too, so that doesn't hurt.

1st: Chaco
At first, I didn't like Chaco. He was an annoying winger brat who stole your wallet. But then when Two River was in trouble, he and the wingers come in and help the humans fight off Klaus and Kiba and the rest of Highland. Chaco comes in handy with his wings throughout the game. His ability to fly saves many people. Shu uses him very well. He more than makes up for stealing your wallet early in the game and forcing you through a boring sewer. He reminds me a little of stallion in his position in the army. He's also not terrible in battle. So Chaco gets first.

Chikai Star[]

5th: Cius
Rarely will you see a Suikoden V character at the bottom on this list. But Cius is one that you will. Because I never was too thrilled with him. He's not really fit for this star. I think Lelei should've had this star instead. It would've made far more sense if you ask me. Cius is kind of prejudiced against Armes. Though I guess Lelei is too. Cius is one of the guards for Lucretia's cell. He doesn't make quite as much sense as Lelei does.

4th: Tanya
Tanya is a better strategist than Eleanor. So she's got that going for her. But she's not too important to the storyline really. She's fairly attractive at least. She's kind of what I expected out of Eleanor. But I didn't get anything near that. Just a drunk old woman. Tanya is pretty cool though.

3rd: Albert Silverbeg
I know a lot of people are going to complain about this, but I'm just not the biggest fan of Albert. They tried so hard to create a clone of Leon, but they just couldn't get it right. I mean he's an amazing strategist, and certainly better than any under this star excluding Leon. But Albert was kind of just a side character. They were like "Yeah, he did this and this." but you don't really see him doing much sadly. He has a lot of potential though.

2nd: Klaus
I like Klaus, what can I say. He's not a brilliant strategist, but he's not a bad one either. Some of his plans, like dividing two river are good. He respects his foes, which is a mistake many strategists make. Eventually he joins the Dunan Unification Army along with his father. I wonder whatever became of him. He's certainly better than Apple I'd say. Also wonder if he and Sierra had anything going on >_>

1st: Leon Silverberg
Can there be any other at the top here? I mean seriously. A brilliant strategist- the best in the entire series by far. He engineered the Kanakan incident. He assisted Mathiu Silverberg in Liberation Army. He later would become a strategist for Jowy Blight. He helped Jowy take Greenhill back with the strategy of allowing prisoners to be released to cause trouble. He had many brilliant strategies. Despite the translation error, Shu never beat Leon. Leon is an incredible strategist, and it would take a lot to surpass him.

Chisatsu Star[]

5th: Jeremy
Jeremy duels Mitsubu. Then he joins your party later. Then... yeah. Nothing. Useful in battle? I don't remember, I think he was pretty strong though. At least he was a decent warrior. But again, no background whatsoever. Suikoden IV really suffers in the character department. They could use some development.

4th: Georges
"Hi, I have a minigame, if you beat me I'll waste space in your castle!". Georges pretty much to tee. He did lead a squad for some reason. I'm not sure i ever used them though. Georges is better than Jeremy only because he supplies a decent minigame. Not hard to get to join you really. Not the best minigame either though.

3rd: Mua
Mua is okay. He's traveling with Hallec for some reason. His name is weird. He's actually decent in battle. He's a member of the Kamaro Free Knights which makes him automatically cooler than Georges and Jeremy. He also helped by calling for reinforcements. Which was pretty cool of him. Still not quite in the top two for this star.

2nd: Gilbert
Gilbert is pretty cool. He joins you after you talk to him with Viktor or Flick. He changes sides in the middle of battle. What a good move for him heh. I think Ace was a member of his mercenaries, but I'm not entirely sure. But that also makes him cool, with his connections to Suikoden III. Too bad we didn't get to see him there. That'd have been mega awesome. Especially considering he's originally from Zexen. Suikoden III just wasted so many opportunities.

1st: Raven
Raven is awesome if only for his rivalry with Oboro, who is awesome to the max. Raven has a cool rune that helps him evade capture. Of course Oboro is a genius so he caught him once. But his client was an ass, so he let Raven escape. Raven isn't a bad thief, he only steals family trees and stuff. After the war, he joins Fuyo's agency which is awesome. Oboro calls him "The Crow" which is hilarious. The Crow... err Raven is awesome.

Chiyu Star[]

5th: Dominic
Not a fan of this star. Dominic sucks. Not the armorer I wanted in my castle. I'd never have let him join if I didn't need an armorer, and didn't want 108 stars. He's a big ol' jerk for the most part. I don't even like his looks. He looks like a grumpy old man. He IS a grumpy old man. Bah.

4th: Gareth
A sculptor. Bleh. Not much to say about him, because he's a Suikoden IV character. Who does nearly nothing. Like most Suikoden IV characters! Yeah.. Gareth is better than Dominic because he's not a grumpy old man. What can I say?

3rd: Tetsu
The bathmaker for Suikoden II. I like the way you recruit him, but other than that he's kind of meh. Never have been a fan of the crazy bath people. I mean yeah, the bath scenes are awesome, and for that alone he's better than the other two. But really there's nothing that makes him more special than the other bath makers.

2nd: Ivanov
Ivanov is a famous painter. The fact that he's second speaks volumes about this star. But it's cool that he's mentioned in Suikoden V. So he gets major points for that. World famous painter indeed. He paints some pretty cool stuff if you get him the paint he needs. Ivanov is pretty cool.

1st: Shinro
Shinro is cool if only because he uses an Abacus. I mean who uses those things? He's awesome for doing that. Shinro is one of the better shop guys. He's also the grandson of Sairoh. Who's also a star of destiny. Nice connection. He actually stands out like the rest of these guys except for Ivanov.

Chiketsu Star[]

The Jeanes!

5th: Suikoden I Jeane
The least attractive and least interesting of the Jeanes. She was just a runemistress from Antei in this game for the most part. Though still attractive obviously. She was an important recruit as she could equip runes for you. It wasn't until the later games that she got more interesting though.

4th: Suikoden II Jeane
The third most attractive Jeane in my humble opinion. Jeane in this game is slightly more interesting. She's a teacher at Greenhill. God I wish I had teachers like her in school. I mean seriously. I'd be interested in becoming a Rune Master if she were my teacher believe you me. Her connection to Raura is pretty interesting too. She become slightly more interesting here.

3rdd: Suikoden III Jeane
The 4th most attractive Jeane. In this game she dawns a sexy black dress. How modern of her. The dog seems to know her secret, which makes her interesting in this game. But she's not playable, or really all that important in this game. So I can't really put her any higher.

2nd: Suikoden IV Jeane
The 2nd most attractive Jeane in my opinion. Wearing less clothes than ever before! Woo hoo! Less is better in this case >_> Anyway, this game takes place FAR in the past, and solidifies the oddity of Jeane appearing in each game. Since this game takes place 100 and some years before Suikoden I. But other than that she wasn't too interesting in the game. Though this is the first time she was playable, and believe you me she was usually on my team.

1st: Suikoden IV Jeane
The best Jeane, and the most attractive Jeane (and the Jeane with the least clothes WOO!). Seriously though. Here Jeane really becomes important. Even Zerase bows to her. Her bath scenes are awesome too. She is able to give Alenia the Twilight Rune. Which is strange. But Zerase who yells at the Prince for getting the Dawn Rune doesn't seem to care. I'm guessing this is because Zerase is Jeanes *****. Then you have the whole big hole. Jeane has something to get down there. Cool. She's certainly more important in this game than in the others, and her secrets slowly start to unravel (as her clothes do too!).

Chiyu Star[]

5th: Lilon
The Mermaids should've been a lot hotter. Lilon wasn't the least attractive of them,b ut she's not that attractive. Or that important for that matter. Easily the worst of this star. The Mermaids had potential, but they blew it on them >_>

4th: Shabon
Again, not a fan of children, but she's not weak at least. I like her parents a lot more than i like her. Traveling performers DO need a place to stay. So I guess Suikoden 3 has it make more sense for children to join. But that doesn't mean i have to like them. The poor girl was chased by SDR. Err... the appraiser. Yeah. him. Anyway 4th for her.

3rd: Eikei
This guy is very tough. Good for him. I never really used him. He's kind of unimportant in the long run. But you're going to have a few when you have 108 characters. He certainly looks the part. I like how you have to be a certain level to get him to join you. But other than that, there's really nothing special about the guy.

2nd: Wakaba
She's L.C. Chan's apprentice. He's kind of funny. At least she has a connection to a character. I thought she was a boy at first, but eventually figured out that she was a girl. She fights with her feet, which is cool. unique too compared to some characters. She's fairly useful in the game.

1st: Norden
Norden has a good amount of story to him. He's responsible for a lot of bad things that happened, but then again Euram is far more responsible. And Noreden manages to tell the truth about the Lordlake uprising. He's a drunk at first, but he eventually reforms, and joins the Prince. Kind of cool of a guy, though not totally useful really...

Chii Star[]

4th: Gary
Gary is pretty cool for being the ancestor of the Maximillian Knights. But it's hard for him to compare to the other three who are actually members of the knights. Even though he's their ancestor. If that makes any sense. Gary's not too bad though. He's pretty cool. Looks kind of crazy. But hey they all do.

3rd: Isabel
Isabel is awesome. Don't get me wrong. First female member of the Maximillian Knights that wasn't a squire. Isabel like the other Maximillian Knights wants justice, and to make evil perish. She has an awesome squire too by the way. As a member of the Maximillian Knights, it's guaranteed that she's awesome. I never used her much sadly, but maybe on my next playthrough I will.

2nd: Fred
I like Fred. He's one of my favorite characters in Suikoden III. He has a nice moment with Rico in the end. He's a funny guy, which is what you usually get from the Maximillian Knights. It's kind of sad that it's dwindled down to him and Rico. I have a feeling we'll see him again in a future Suikoden. Hopefully a little less arrogant next time.

1st: Maximillian
You have to give credit where credit is do. The old man was the founder of the Maximillian Knights, so he gets the first position here almost automatically. He's still cool. Joining both Tir and Riou in their battles against injustice. Though he joins both fairly late in the game. He's still very useful in war battles. One has to wonder his history, and how many battles he's fought. A bit eccentric, but that's just what seems to be required to be a Maximillian Knights. It's no wonder.

Chiei Star[]

5th: Ema
Ema is just kind of there. Not unlike a lot of other Suikoden IV characters. They realized they had to give Gary someone, so they gave him Ema. Yeah. Hey, she's a wife at least. Not very attractive. Doesn't seem like the type of woman who'd birth a future Maximillan Knights or whatever. But hey, I can't complain too much I guess.

4th: Rico
Rico is kind of annoying. I WANT to like her, I just can't. Her character design is awful. And I'm not saying "Oh man she's unattractive she sucks". She just looks like an ugly brat. She seems pretty nice, though I don't think she's really all that smart. I mean she's with Fred for god's sake. She's Sancho's daughter I think. She doesn't look anything like him. Must take from the fathers side of the family.

3rd: Sancho
Sancho is alright. He's only in the first game, and tries to direct poor Max. Other than that he doesn't do much. He's Rico's father. That's cool. Too bad he wasn't in the second game, and a bit more developed. He gets points for being the original.

2nd: Genshu
Genshu has an interesting story despite being a relatively minor character in Suikoden II. He was an assassin who killed his own brother who had disguised himself as his target. He's also obsessed with swords. Genshu's okay, but he's not a Max. Knight. Which is unfortunate.

1st: Mathias
Mathias is obsessed with dumping corpses of evil doers into bodies of water. Very obsessed. He's also obsessed with Isabel. He's from the Warriors Village according to speculation. It's a reasonable guess to where he's from since he named his sword Isabel. Which seems to be something Warrior Village guys do. Mathias looks a little creepy. I totally wouldn't want to meet him in a back ally. He might dispose my loathsome corpse into the hudson river.

Chiki Star[]

5th: Grenseal
Grenseal is the one in Green. Easy enough to remember. He's one of Teo's right hand men, and offers to fight Tir McDohl. He winds up of course joining you on Teo's orders. Not too important to the storyline despite his connections to Teo. Would've liked to seen him be more important. Maybe a sidequest involving him.

4th: Sigurd
Sigurd is okay. He has a bit more backstory than most Suikoden 4 characters do. He looks pretty knightly for a pirate. I guess that makes sense since the rest of these guys are knights. Sigurd is pretty cool, but not quite on the level of the rest of these guys. He's Kika's right hand man.

3rd: Percival
Percival is one of the six knights of Zexen, and easily a pretty boy. He's from a farming village, but that's kind of hard to tell. It's nice of him to take Chris somewhere to rest, though I think it's more to get on her good side. He's not a bad person though, you can tell that.

2nd: Rahal
Rahal... ahh Rahal and his cross dressing moments. So hilarious! Gotta love him for that. That scene is just comical. He and Roog make a great pair- probably the 2nd best of these pairs easily. Rahal has his own Dragonhorse. He's first seen in Stormfist, and later he's seen in Raftfleet. He'll join you much later. He's an awesome guy. Just not quite on Camus's level.

1st: Camus
One of the Matilda Knights. He's so gentlemenly when you first see him. One of my favorite scenes in Suikoden II is when the knights take off their badges, and leave with Camus and Mikoltov. Great scene. Camus is awesome. A great warrior, and a great ally. Camus tops the list for this star.

Chimou Star[]

5th: Borus
I never liked Borus much. He seems so arrogant, and stuck up to me. Maybe my least favorite of the Knights of Zexen. He has a terrible temper. He and Percival may be the worst of the duos, because they don't click as well as the others do.

4th: Hervey
Another of Kika's pirates. He and Sigurd have a decent history together at least. He was always a pirate, unlike Sigurd. He doesn't look as cool as his partner in my opinion. He's still cooler than Borus. There's not much else to say about him though. But hey, I've had to talk about a LOT of characters so far.

3rd: Alen
Grenseal's partner. He's actually got a little bit of a backstory unlike Alen (as far as I know anyway. I could be wrong). So he manages to rank a little higher than Grenseal did. Though I just don't like Borus as much as Percival. Again, it'd have been nice to elaborate on him.

2nd: Roog
Roog is pretty cool. Another Dragonhorse Rider. He's a bit rougher than his partner. But I like that about him. He wanted to give Lord Barrows a thump on the head, and I don't blame him. Would've been funny to do. He doesn't dress up like a girl like Rahal does. But he's still cool in my book. He's the guy in red by the way. He has somewhat of a temper.

1st: Mikoltov
Mikoltov is awesome. Though he's a jerk when you first meet him, he's the most willing to standup to the leader of the Matilda Knights. I like him and Camus, they make an excellent pair. Mikoltov and Camus are the easiest told apart of these guys imo. They're not all that alike, but they click together well. He's kind of how I think more Matilda Knights should've been. Tough, but chivalrous. Not willing to leave innocents to get hurt. Seeing as they were the most militant of the Jowston City States.

Chibun Star[]

5th: Micky
Not a big fan of this star at all. So expect short writeups. MIcky is Reinbach's servant. He's weird looking. He gets into writing later in the game. *yawn*. Not much of a star of destiny to be honest.

4th: Twaikin
I liked the dwarves in every game except III. They're so awful in Suikoden III, and I think Twaikin is the only one. Never used him. Never will. Like I said, short writeups for this star for the most part. They're not important.

3rd: Jude
A Sculptor! Not bad actually. A big improvement over the other two. Though that's not saying much. After him this star clearly went downhill. He's a teacher at greenhill. Other than that, there's not really much about him. He's not too important. But still, not a terrible recruit.

2nd: Tesla
Tesla is cool for his story point- he's a scrivner. He can falsify documents. And he's good at it. Not quite so good at seeing through tricks. Viktor's "Hey Tesla!" got him so fast, that he couldn't recover. I wonder if he's semi-related to Euram. Hah. Not a bad guy really. Not too important after his storyline moment, but still.

1st: Gunde
GUNNY! Love the scene where you first meet Gunde the dwarf. He's a tunnel digger, and a good one. He's also a friend of Logg's, and a guy who helps prisoners and gladiators escape. He broke into agate prison for you. That's just awesome. He also vouches for the prince when a dwarf accuses him of killing other dwarves, when it was nethergate that did it. An awesome dwarf really. Suikoden V Dwarves are the best.

Chisei Star[]

5th: Nabakov
I remember nothing about him, so he gets last. He's an appraise of course. That's cool. But uh did he do anything in the game? You just speak with him to join you don't you? yeah...

4th: Jabba
Jabba gets 4th because he's really hard to get. Spent a lot of time trying to get that stupid nameless urn. I like the trick, but it should be slightly easier. Less random. Jabba is cool though. Not bad for an appraiser. Certainly not the worst.

3rd: Lebrante
Finding a celadon urn wasn't so bad. Not as bad as the nameless urn at least. But again, he wasn't too important other than having his shop around. Yeah. Suffice it to say, he was never going to be all that important. Not much story to him either other than he collects Celadon urns. Yeah.

2nd: Bastan
I hate how you have to recruit him, but he has a good backstory at least. Bastan works in crazy ass haud village. He's a con artist, who appreciates art, but realizes the business of it. Salum Barrows is tasteless, so he buys rip offs, and sells them to him. He's pretty useful in appraising your items, and then you can sell them. Yeah the others could do that too, but I found it so much more useful in this game. Especially with the fishing minigame.

1st: Nadir
It's too bad he and Roy didn't share a star. That'd be cool, think of the theories there could be! But alas, it's not so. Anyway, Nadir's theater was one of the coolest mini games in the series. I like Chichorin a bit better, but still. Not bad for Suikoden III. A lot of fun, especially with so many stars, and so many possible combinations. So much you could do.

Chikatsu Star[]

3rd: Frederica
Frederica is okay. She's from the Scarlet Moon, which is pretty cool. She's after Graham Cray, so at least she has motive. But honestly, the other two who share this star are just incredibly awesome. I mean seriously. She has some hefty competition. She's not a bad character. I don't remember her all too well, nor do I any of the Suikoden IV characters. But whatever.

2nd: Duke
Geddoe's rival is pretty cool. Him showing up to take care of those monsters was awesome. He's a mercenary with style. His group is a bit rougher than Geddoe's group. I like Duke really. He seems like the type to never back down from a fight. A pretty awesome mercenary. I don't have much more to say on him unfortunately.

1st: Lorelai
Ahh Lorelai. I liked you from Suikoden I on. When I first got her, I used her quite a bit for a while, before giving up on her. But it wasn't until Suikoden V that really cemented her as the best of this star. She's younger, and much prettier in Suikoden V than she is in the later games. Though she's not quite as skilled at multiple weapons as she is in later games. She's obsessed with the Sindar, which are an important race to the Suikoden series. I know we'll see her again so long as the Suikoden series continues. She's an awesome character, and her rivalry with Killey is just awesome.

Chitou Star[]

5th: Mao
Never liked him. He was weird. He kind of just shows up. He grows Mushrooms. Not very important to the story at all. Don't like him. He's weird, and so is his brother. Not a fan of him. Suikoden IV character. BOO!

4th: Tony
Tony was kind of meh. Never really saw much use in him. One of my least favorite Suikoden II characters, and not one of the better farmers really. Though still better than that mushroom grower. Yeah.

3rd: Barts
The pretty boy farmer. I'm not too fond of the farmers if you can't tell. I mean some of them are pretty cool, but really. Not that important. Totally. I've gotta say, Barts doesn't seem like the farming type. If farmers were like him... I'm sure a lot of girls would dream of marrying a farmer some day.

2nd: Goesch
Goesch is the Cool hothead. He's pretty awesome really. He fights with like a giant club. That's awesome! He sucks at the beginning if only because he harbors a grudge like everyone else (not that I can blame him). But later on, he's not so bad. And for a farmer, he's pretty important. I don't mind using him sometimes. Definitely not worse than the other farmers. But not quite as awesome as Blackman.

1st: Blackman
Don't step on his plants! This guy fights with a hoe! A HOE! That's just awesome. More farmers should fight with hoes. I know Dorobou loves this guy. My last play through of Suikoden I, I actually used this guy. He was awesome. Gotta love farmers that are fighters.

Chikyou Star[]

5th: Bartholomew
He gets points for going to Falena after Suikoden IV, but outside of that? Not much importance to anything. He's kind of a loner until he joins the army. Then suddenly he's not so much of a loner. Yeah. Least favorite of his star pretty easily. The other guys aren't so bad.

4th: Gijimu
I love how bandits suddenly become captains of the guard in countries. I wouldn't mind living in the Suikoverse for that reason alone. One day you're a bandit stealing from people, and the next you join some guy's army and then you're captain of your own guard unit. Sounds pretty sweet to me. He's not such a bad guy, but the others are so much better really.

3rd: Joshua
It's hard to put Joshua 3rd. I mean he's a pretty cool guy, and has the True Dragon Rune. But really... other than his pwning of Yubers forces in the game, he doesn't really do all that much. At least not until late in the game, when you've just about won anyway. "Oh we need more allies. We haven't got enough yet. Let's uhh... get the dragon calvary.". Joshua and Craig are very similar in many ways. At least that's how I see it.

2nd: Bright
The Dragon Futch gets in Suikoden II. Bright is awesome. Futch and Bright make a great pair. One of the better pairs in the series. Bright is cool just because he's a dragon. A white one too. He's powerful as well. Too bad he wasn't a Star in Suikoden II. Having a baby dragon would've been awesome. Very awesome. I was kind of sad when Black died, but I was happy that Futch got another Dragon.

1st: Fuwalufuwalu
Ahh yes. The Beavers. You know. The ones that rape ships. I mean seriously, these guys destroy ships. If Falena had them as their navy, NOBODY would dare mess with the Falenan Navy. I mean would they? Would YOU? Beavers are just pwn. And Fuwalufuwalu is their leader. He tells you about Boss. Which is cool. On my 2nd playthrough he didn't tell me and I was kind of mad. But still. He's an old man beaver. He's got a funny voice too. Fuwalufuwalu is awesome.

Chian Star[]

5th: Helmut
Helmut has some story to him at least. He's Colton's son for example. But his defection seems reminiscent of Suikoden I. "Oh darn you beat me. Guess I'll join you!". Enemies need to have a little more conviction. I mean sheesh. Wouldn't that be nice once in a while? I know Suikoden II and V have enemies with strong convictions.

4th: Rikimaru
Someone close to him was killed, and he was after vengeance. Though it was never explained who he was after. I wonder if they'll go into that in a later game. It just doesn't make much sense to me. Which is why he ranks fourth. I rarely ever used him, so he was barely worth the money I paid for his meals. Oh well. He could be worse I guess.

3rd: Toppo
Toppo isn't so bad. He's an actor. Which gives him good reason to go to the castle. Not much reason to participate in war, but whatever. He and Shabon are awesome together, Nei too. They're a nice circus troop.

2nd: Morgan
Morgan probably would've never been so high on the list before Suikoden V. But afterwards- wow. Just wow. He's a blind man in Suikoden I that you just hear that he's a gladiator. I didn't even remember much about him. Then in Suikoden V Shoon tells you about this powerful gladiator who was too good, and got his eyes cut out. This is him. That just makes him so badass. Awesome.

1st: Richard
With Richard in battle, suikoden v battles typically go like this: Richard parries, counters, kills, attacks, attacks again, and again, and sometimes again. He's just that awesome. Though he can be killed, as Zen found out against the NIRVA ISLAND PIRATES! I mean the Nirva Island Pirates? Granted, he had a firefly rune on him. But still! HOW?! Richard is awesome though. HIs father was abusive, which is sad. But Mueller killed him, which explains his obsession with the guy. Mueller is like his hero. I think if the sacred games hadn't been rigged, and Richard wasn't out in round 1 due to poisoning, I think he'd have won. Pretty easily. He'd have been an awesome Commander of the Queen's Knights. He's from Zelant. I hope we visit that country in a future Suikoden.

Chiziku Star[]

5th: Gantetsu
Okay, this guy looks weird. He has a nice unique way to recruit. But still. He's weird. He's not exactly important either. It's nice that he's from Qlon Temple and all. But still. Seems like a rather sketchy connection to Suikoden I.

4th: Pablo
Pablo is actually fairly important in Suikoden IV. I was impressed. He was involved with the Rune Cannons. And he's Nelis's great great great great grandfather or something. So he gets points for that. But other than that... he's just not all that likable. Yeah. That's just too bad.

3rd: Mose
Mose is one of the blacksmiths in Suikoden 1. one of the FIVE blacksmiths. Yeah, did they really need that many? So glad Suikoden II had the hammer system. It works much better. Mose is actually one of the more important blacksmiths- making the fire spears for the Liberation Army. Which makes him marginally important compared to the other 4 blacksmiths. Yes FOUR blacksmiths. Didn't need that many.

2nd: Wabon
Wabon is the leader of the dwarves. He's kind of funny. Which is what ranks him so high. He loves building mine carts. VERY Much. Which is cool and all. I like when he yells at the party, and then says he didn't know humans were that smart. Then Miakis says that "Oh it was HAPPY yelling.". So funny. His apprentice is Dongo. He treats him rotten, but that's okay, it's just Dongo >_>

1st: Beechum
Beechum is actually pretty cool. It'd have been nice if in Suikoden III you could use him more often. He also appeared in Suikoden II. Beechum is one of the cooler Karayans. I liked him, and thought it'd be interesting if he were a bit more important. I used him quite a bit when you are able to. It'd have been nice if he had Sgt. Joe's job. He seems more like the mentor type really.

Chikai Star[]

5th: Bang
The old man who runs the lotter. Not very important. Not usable in battle. Not going to get higher than 5th with those credentials.

4th: Esmerelda
Esmerelda never contributed much in Suikoden I. That goes for a lot of their 108 stars I guess. How long did you spend looking for an Opal for her? They're not too much of a pain (unlike the nameless runs). But still, I hate looking for random drops in video games. She wasn't very attractive for a narcissist.

3rd: Gau
The Kobold looks awesome. Really, he does. He's a member of Duke's mercenaries which is pretty cool. And hey - he has an eyepatch. But I've never been a big fan of Kobolds. I was glad they were left out of Suikoden V to be honest. They're not the worst race in the series (Cough Nay Kobolds) He's from Kobold Village in the Scarlet Moon Empire. The place didn't seem as unfriendly as him though.

2nd: Simone
Simone gets 2nd just for his weapon alone- he uses a ROSE. Yes, a ROSE. You read that right. How badass do you have to be to use a rose to fight with? Simone is friends with Vincent. Poor Vincent lost his Rose Broach, but you can get him a new one at least!

1st: Luserina
Ahh the Lovely Luserina. She's very beautiful. Were it not for Lyon, a Luserina / Freyjadour pairing would be nice. Poor Luserina. Her father is a horrible man, and her brother an incompetent baffoon (though that's his own fault.) Luserina shows you the good side of the Barows family. She's responsible for letting you change characters in Suikoden V. Which makes her highly useful. Luckily she's almost always standing in the same place- and right near Viki too. That's always nice. Luserina is just wonderful, and easily the best of her star.

Chisa Star[]

5th: Liloon
Another mermaid. Wasn't a fan of them. They could've been a lot better looking. A lot hotter. I mean this is the game where Jeane barely wore anything. Why could they not have made the mermaids, dare I say... sexier? They weren't very important, they could've at least made them easy on the eyes.

4th: Connell
Ah the phonologist who's father was a phonologist. He's from Greenhill, which is pretty cool. Honestly Greenhill is one of the cooler towns in Suikoden II. Connell just wasn't that important, and I don't remember using him much as a phonologist. In fact, I don't think I ever used any of them except Rania once, by complete accident.

3rd: Melodye
She's actually kind of cute in some of her art, though her Suikoden I art is awful. But she gets the nod over connell for that reason alone. Like I said the only Phonologist I ever used was Rania. Melodye wasn't too difficult to get to join you either IIRC.

2nd: Rania
Rania is... disturbing looking if only because she looks like Rahal so much. It's so damn creepy. She can also change your music in battle. I used her to change the sounds in Suikoden V once, but they sounded too weird for me, so I went back to default.

1st: Reed
Reed isn't so bad. He's not a phonologist. I didn't sue him very much, but honestly he seems like a nice guy. He's Lily Pendragon's bodgyuard. Well one of them any way. Some joked that he's an agent of Harmonia. Not much else to say about him really.

Chiyu Star[]

5th: Lilen
Another mermaid. Yawn. I can't say much about them after having talked about the others. Just so unimportant. Not what you'd expect from a mermaid. Belh.

4th: Chapman
Chapman sells you armor. One of those "Talk to them and they will join you." Characters. Those are actually kind of boring. Chapman starts a theater after the war. HEY MAYBE CHAPMAN IS ROY! MAYBE CHAPMAN IS NADIR! MAYBE CHAPMAN IS NADIR AND ROY!

3rd: Samus
Samus is okay. He's not as cool as Reed. He's one of Lily's attendants. I feel sorry for him. He wants to quit, but is unable to. I'd just walk away if I were him. Lily is a spoiled brat. Unlike Reed, Samus doesn't put up with it. One thing I have against Samus is he shares his name with a certain bounty hunter.

2nd: Hans
Hans is pretty cool, if only because you can actually charge him to open a shop in your castle. Everybody else charges you, but no! You can't charge them. Hans gets points for that. Though I usually always let him open it up for free, so it is immediate. But it's nice to have the option really.

1st: Moshen
I like Moshen. He's a great armorer. Though he sides with Godwin at first, after Lelcar burns down, he joins you so long as you spent at least $50,000 potch at his shop. And tell him to man up! Moshen has pretty good armor. He's always thinking of his customers. Which is pretty awesome. It makes him a great armorer, and the best of his star.

Chirei Star[]

5th: Mio
Mio is a nurse. She got the star because Tuta is the doctor in Suikoden III. So yeah. Mio isn't an attractive nurse. She's a widow, which is kind of sad. She gets points for that, but she's still last on the list. Yeah, not much else to say about her.

4th: Yu
Yu is pretty cool if only because he gives a hypochondriac flour as medicine. That's awesome. Other than that, he's a Suikoden IV character. Fairly unimportant. A good doctor though. Not the best Doctor in the series though.

3rd: Huan
Huan gets points for getting saved by Georg Prime. Yes, he gets points for that, because Georg Prime is awesome. Huan was trained by Liukan, and trained Tuta. That's just awesome. Huan is a generally nice guy, and a good doctor. It would've been cool if there was a doctor mini game though >_>

2nd: Silva
Silva would've taken first if she hadn't yelled at the Prince twice early in the game. She lacks bedside manners. Though later in the game, she does much better with Lyon. She allows Lyon to train in secret to get ready to fight beside the prince. At least she joins when it matters. Silva was married to Galleon, which is also cool. Sadly their marriage didn't last long. The first female doctor in the series.

1st: Liukan
Liukan is an old doctor, who seems to be a master of medicine. At first he refuses to join the Liberation Army. But then Milich Oppenheimer comes in and kidnaps him on a dragon! It's like "Hey joins us!" "no!" "I'm here to kidnap him!" "Well crap." Sadly there were many that he couldn't save, but he was still a good doctor. The first generation that would later lead to Tuta. I wonder if he trained any other doctors. He's also has a cameo in Suikoden II. Which was awesome. I'd assume he is dead by Suikoden III.

Chijyu Star[]

4th: Tuta
I don't care much for Tuta. In Suikoden II I thought he was a girl. In fact I thought that for so long, that in Suikoden III I thought Tuta was a different Tuta. It wasn't until after the Suikoden II board talked about him as a him, did I learn Tuta was a boy. Wow. That's bad. He's an okay character, just not one of my favorites of his star.

3rd: Carrie
Carrie gets points for being a hot nurse. She also helps get patients out of Obel, which is quite nice. She's not such a bad character really, and i like her more than Toma. I almost wonder if she's an ancestor of Dr. Silva. But most likely not.

2nd: Murad
I like Dr. Murad. He's pretty awesome. He develops the antidote for the dark arcanum. He doesn't join unless you ask him 4 times which is pretty neat. I always try not to miss him, though sometimes it's harder than others. Murad finally joins you after all that. He also looks over the sacred games.

1st: Fukien
Fukien is awesome. I think he's one of the only ones that can use the Resurrection Rune in Suikoden 1. Not to mention he knows about the 108 stars of destiny. He's the head monk at Qlon temple. He's pretty awesome, and has a weapon with an awesome name too. Barely edges out Dr. Murad just because he's so useful and knows about the 108 stars of destiny.

Chibi Star[]

3rd: Dario
Dario is okay. But he's a Suikoden IV character, and you can't really expect much. He's a pirate who advocates violence. He's usually with Naello, who isn't actually his son, which always confused me. Not too bad of a character I guess, just not someone that I'd rank higher than this.

2nd: Gavaya
The SDR of the Suikoden World. He loves hugging little girls, and asking them to marry him. He tries to participate in the Sacred Games, but is turned down. Just like he's turned down by just about every girl. He's from Armes, which actually makes me want to go to Armes. I wonder which clan he's from, and if we'll even ever see him again. I doubt it. too bad.

1st: Futch
Futch I didn't like at first. He was annoying on the trip to that island, but then later in the game he's pretty cool. Then in Suikoden 3 he's all grown up and like awesome with his cool dragon Bright. He actually grew on me, and became a main party member for me. Futch is pretty awesome. Even if he's an annoying brat in the first game. He was much better in Suikoden II, and you could get him early on if you did the level up trick. Which I always did >_>

Chikyu Star[]

4th: Hazuki
I never liked Hazuki much. She just wants to duel Belcoot, and joins your army for such reasons. Not my kind of character. Never really used her. Got her mostly because I wanted all 108 stars. She's sometimes hard to find as I've found out. Especially if you don't get her like ASAP.

3rd: Millay
I like Millay. She's on of Lazlo's guards I think. She didn't want to marry Reinbach III, not that I can blame her given how Reinbach II is. She's prettty good in battle. She seems to like Lazlo some too. One of the better Suikoden IV characters really.

2nd: Lilly Pendragon
The spoiled brat. If she doesn't get her way... one of the better characters in Hugo's chapters though. I like how she fights, though I could do without her bodyguards. Lilly seems to think she's so important. Reminds me of a spoiled Princess. If Lym were her age, I could've seen the two of them clashing big time. Instead we see Lilly and Chris clash.

1st: Kasumi
The Ninja! Kasumi is awesome with her Shrike Rune. She's got a thing for Tir McDohl apparently, which is nice.. Tir needs a love interest. Especially since Gremio is a man >_> Not that there'd be anything wrong with that, just sayin'. Kasumi is always my choice in Suikoden II, thus why I don't include Tomo here.

Chibaku Star[]

5th: Jefferson
Eh, I can't really bring myself to like him. He's slightly funny, but really not all that important to... well anything. He looks so out of place too. Feels like he should have a gun or something. But he's no Howling Voice Guild member, that's for sure.

4th: Maas
Oh my it's one of the 5 generic blacksmiths of Suikoden I. He's useful for all of 10 minutes or so. Maybe longer than that. Not much to say about the blacksmiths.

3rd: Reinhold
I liked Reinhold okay. A con artist who works with Mitsuba. Reinhold look kind of weird too. Not a bad character in Suikoden IV. When I replay it again eventually, I'll see what I remember about him. For some reason I remember actually liking him. Ahh, who knows. :

2nd: Badeaux
Badeaux gives you the listening crystals which earns him the 2nd spot. He was a beastmaster, but not much else memorable about him. He was just some random guy you meet in the forest. Pretty cool nonetheless though.

1st: Moroon
I think Moroon was originally intended to be an elf. Anyone else get that vibe? Honestly he's a jerk. But he's a godly jerk. Beavers own on the water. If they were the Falenan Navy, I think Harmonia and the Island Nations would be in trouble. Because gnaw is so totally broken. Forget land battles with them though. But on the water? They're the kings. Plus he has a pretty cool guitar.

Chizen Star[]

5th: Levi
Levi wasn't a bad character. Don't get me wrong. Though I'm not particularly fond of his apprentice. He just didn't scream importance like the others in this star did. That's mostly Zerase's fault though. She's like a god mage. He joins with some awesome runes. I usually take him to the Ashtwal mountains just for a good mage in each party.

4th: Warlock
Wait... someone actually important to Suikoden IV's story? UNTHINKABLE! Seriously Warlock is pretty cool just for having invented the Rune Cannons. I don't think I ever used him, but for that I blame the 4 character party system. Because if it were 6 like it should've been... then I might've used him.

3rd: Sarah
Sarah is interesting. She's fairly attractive. Though I don't get what she sees in Luc. Sarah is a powerful mage, who seems to know a lot about the Sindar. For that reason she gets 3rd here. Were it not for that, and indirectly leading to Lulu's death, she'd probably rank 5th.

2nd: Crowley
Honestly Crowley would get first if he and Mazus were switched. Crowley just got the short end of the stick with only one rune slot because of the limitations of Suikoden I. named after the awesome Alesteir Crowley. His and Mazus' duel is one of the many things I'd like to see resolved.

1st: Mazus
Mazus comes with awesome runes. He's an awesome party member. He gets the nod because he has 3 rune slots instead of 1 due to limitations. Named for the less famous Mathers. Konami apparently messed this one up. He looks cooler than Crowley though I'll admit. So he gets 1st of this star.

Chikou Star[]

5th: Fuma
Stupid Pallete swaps... Fuma is easy to find in Suikoden I, but nowhere to be found in Suikoden II despite visiting the Rokkaku Hamlet. Which is an awesome place by the way. He's gets last of what's a mostly awesome star. So awesome, I'd feel bad about lowering any of the others rankings.

4th: Akaghi
Akaghi is pretty cool. He's a ninja, so that's a given. He fights with one chakram, because he lost one and doesn't want to admit it. Which is kind of funny. He likes Ramada and Mizuki. He's actually somewhat important to the plot of Suikoden IV so he manages to get 4th place!

3rd: Mondo
A Rokkaku Ninja. An older Ninja. he gets points for training Kasumi. He's not that bad, but I don't think I ever like used him. Which is why he gets 3rd. Mondo isn't so bad really though. I just don't have much to say about him.

2nd: Watari
I had a hard time placing Watari. But in the end, being in Suikoden III drops him to 2nd. He's super awesome, though it doesn't help that he costs 100k potch. He has like one line in the entire game, but it's hilarious. It's at the ruins, when you follow Jimba. Watari is an awesome ninja. A member of the Kage. He also makes Mike mysterious.

1st: Shigure
Ugh, what a pain! He has an awesome backstory. Shigure was once a member of nethergate, how sad. Nethergate is like the most evil organization i can think of. I mean like... Luca Blight looks like puppies compared to them sometimes. His relationship with Sagiri also earns him points. I also like his involvement with Doorat. That's pretty cool. So he ends up getting first. He's also tough. And his voice! It sounds so much older than he is.

Chikyou star[]

5th: Moose
Oh the yellow blacksmith. Useful for all of an hour. Then his master comes in and is like "Please." Of course you need fall 4 to get the master. So I guess he's not too bad. But ugh at 5 blacksmiths. I mean 5 beavers, yeah. But blacksmiths? UGH!

4th: Sasuke
The boy has a crush on Kasumi. He's slightly better than Blacksmith #4 (The Yellow one). Sasuke is a ninja in training, and is kind of a jerk to Riou. So he gets 4th quiet easily. Not one of my favorites. Though he's not that bad really.

3rd: Ayame
Ayame gets her ass handed to her by Watari. She's kind of hot, though it's hard to tell with the mask. If she took it off she might be ranked higher. But nope. So she remains in 3rd. Though she's still an awesome Ninja of the Kage. Also a regular in my party in Suikoden III.

2nd: Mizuki
My favorite Suikoden IV character. Almost always in my party. She's pretty awesome. Kindo f hot too. I like her a lot better than Ayame. For one, she doesn't cover her face. One of the regulars in my party. I really need to play Tactics. Apparently her eye color changed. SHAME KONAMI SHAME!

1st: Sagiri
Sagiri and Miziki are pretty close. But Sagiri's backstory just does it for me. The fact that she can never stop smiling. It's so sad. Nethergate is just awful! Poor Sagiri. No wonder she doesn't want to join you at first. She seems nicer than Shigure though. He can always tell when she's really smiling and when she isn't. She's also great in battle.

Chihi Star[]

5th: Sebastian
If the clock from Beauty and the beast and a certain German dictator had a love child, it would be Sebastian. I can't stand the man. He's annoying. He's kind of a jerk. IIRC he doesn't like grasslanders. I just don't like him. He's obnoxious enough to be rated below one of the blacksmiths. ONE OF THE FIVE BLACKSMITHS! And it's not even the one in white!

4th: Meese
Oh boy. Another blacksmith. The one in green. Better than Sebastian, but that's not saying much. Useful for all of 10 minutes! Woo!

3rd: Ornan
It says something when Ornan, someone so boring as Ornan is ranked 3rd. Seriously. I mean he's just looking for his lost love. Not much else to him. Would've been more interesting if it was Louise. But no! They couldn't have something like that in Suikoden IV. It might've made sense.

2nd: Marina
Sometimes I hate Marina. She poisoned Belcoot during the Sacred Games, which was awful. But still, she's better than the others. And that's saying something. But Marina is a lot more useful later on. Giving a free inn, something you don't get in Suikoden I I believe. Marina is kind of air headed. When you first meet her, she flaps her arms screaming "WHATDOIDO WHATDOIDO!" Which is kind of funny. She and Belcoot actually make a good couple, and I'm happy for them. Still can't help but be mad at her for pretty much giving the sacred games to Gizel. Though without that, there would be no game.

1st: Leona
Leona is awesome. She's hot. She's sophisticated. And she's nice. She also changes your party. Easily the best of her star. She runs a tavern, which is very popular. One of the better looking Suikoden II characters. She was born in Toto. She's one of the more important characters just because she changed your party members. Awesome character. Doesn't really do anything that pisses you off either. So she gets the best of her star. Though Marina is close I guess. Then again, she's MUCH better looking than Marina.

Chisou Star[]

5th: Shi*u
Shi*u it seemed was weird for the sake of being weird. Which I don't like. Least favorite of the Elevator people. Though i'm not particularly fond of most of them in the first place. Shi*u was boring. Never did like her. You barely needed an Elevator in Suikoden III.

4th: Manu
Invented the early elevator. Would probably be ranked higher if he didn't look so... lame. Yeah. The Sindar had it first anyway.

3rd: Adlai
Eccentric old man. You have to buy some stuff just to get him to join, and you have to tell him off. The elevator wasn't too useful in Suikoden II either to be honest.

2nd: Sergei
No, you didn't invent the elevator. Not when there's one in Suikoden IV and V. But the elevator was useful in 1 at least.

1st: Babbage
Babbage isn't a bad old man. He actually is more of a gear guy, and doesn't claim he invented the elevator. He did make an awesome revolving bridge, and various other stuff that helped out. So he easily gets 1st. He also has some pretty cool apprentices, and seems like a generally nice guy.

Chikou Star[]

5th: Rene
Rene was kind of meh. She's a treasure hunter, but I was never TOO interested in that. She and two others give Lazlo a wooden amulet. I wonder if it's the same amulet as in Suikoden II. That'd be neat, especially if the traveler was Lazlo. That'd be awesome. But I digress. Not much importance from Rene.

4th: Nefentitiri Radames Ampenhetep Iruiktanas Antikoseus Puto Remaios Kureakias <br Dimetirios Farasmuseian Ishak Saraj Amenenuhet Atomes Hatshepsut Toto Ank Amen Hortez VII Or simply Hortez VII. NRATAPRKDFISAAHTAAH VII has a long ass name. He has 3 wives, which is pretty cool. He's got a poor sense of direction. Not a bad character really, but not an awesome one either.

3rd: Kimberly
Kimberly has minor importance in Suikoden I, but she has a thing for Yam Koo (though she marries Tai Ho). And Flick, whom she cons into drinking tea with her. She doesn't make much sense to me. But whatever. She's not a bad character. A decent Counterfeiter..

2nd: Haleth
Haleth is pretty cool, because he bets on the Prince's army with other suck ups. I mean he's one too. But he's not too bad. He's friends with Logg. He also starts the dragon calvary race betting. Which one would think Craig would be against, but he's not, as it improves the riders abilities. Which is awesome. Good for them.

1st: Raura
Raura is hot. And she's one of Jeane's friends. So she gets major props. I wonder if she has a connection to Hortez VII. I doubt it. But who knwos with this series. Raura is awesome, and very mysterious. I'd like more explained about her. She's the best of her star for various reasons. I like her a lot more than Hortez, because of her connection to Jeane, and the fact she's very attractive, and you just have to talk to her once instead of like 3 or 4 times.

Chimei Star[]

4th: Ameria
For someone known for her beauty, she's not very beautiful. A bodyguard for hire. Make up is apparently what makes her attractive. Which if you ask me, means she's not very attractive at all. I mean yeah, women wear makeup. But you should be able to be beautiful without it too.

3rd: Elaine
Few will agree with me, but I don't find her all that attractive either. She's Duke's partner. She's semi-important to the game I guess. Her relationship with Ace is kind of funny. I get the 'total *****" vibe from her though. So I'm not a big fan really.

2nd: Sheena
Sheena is alright. In the 1st game he wasn't all that important. But he's the son of President Lepant. He's a bit of a playboy. I think he's fairly interesting because he's the son of a leader. He plays a fairly important role in helping get an alliance between Toran and Dunan. Who knows what happens later with him. Did he marry Apple? If so, eww!

1st: Nifsara
Nifsara is awesome. She likes pretty boys. She creates SAPPHIRE- Secret Alliance for the Protecting Pretty Hunks In Real Endangerment. I like how she likes Richard, the Prince, and many more. Her comments in the comment box are pretty funny. She's also fairly attractive. more so than Elaine and Ameria, at least IMO. I'd love to see her in Suikoden VI if it goes to Armes.

Chisin Star[]

5th: Nico
Not a fan of Nico. He's kind of weird looking. I honestly don't even remember him very well. But that goes for a lot of characters in Suikdoen IV. He's a lookout. But that's about all I can remember. One would think he'd be more important.

4th: Kessler
Kessler only gets points for saving Tir McDohl from his belongings being stolen. Other than that, he's not too important to the storyline. He and Ledon seem to be a team. I don't like Ledon as much as I do Kessler. Not a bad character by any means, but not a great one either.

3rd: Kinnison
Kinnison is okay. He gets points for having a pet wolf. I don't really use him after getting Millie, and start moving on in the game. He's also not that important, but it's hard to get all 108 involved with the plot. I realize that. Kinnison is pretty cool. But just not on the level of the other two guys.

2nd: Yahr
Yahr is awesome. First, his name is Yahr. Like the pirates that go YARR. Secondly, he's always got a way out of things. That's just awesome. I like how he makes up reports. At the end of the war he destroys a bunch of rune cannons which is cool. Yahr and Nelis make a pretty good team. I don't use them much. But they're still pretty cool.

1st: Jacques
Jacques is one of the best Suikoden III characters. "I was hoping for a scarf." Not sure on the exact line, but it was awesome. Gotta love Jacques. My favorite of Geddoe's team easily. He's hilarious. He's a good archer. He's usually on my team. I really like him. Would like to have learned more about him honestly. He and Aila would be good together.

Chitai Star[]

5th: Wendel
Wendel is kind of cute I guess. She's a lookout. Don't remember her very well. So I can't say much about her. Just that she's last on this list.

4th: Shiro
Shiro is cool for the 5 minutes I used him in Suikoden II. He's not the most awesome pet ever, but he's cool nonetheless. He has a unite attack IIRC with his partner Kinnison. Which is useful. Sadly I don't use him very much.

3rd: Nelis
Nelis is attractive. She's smart too. She's a descendant of Pablo. Though you could never tell by just looking at her. Nelis works with Yahr. She's not much like her co-worker, but she helps support the Prince along the way. She and Yahr destroy Rune Cannons at the end of the war, and run off. Awesome. I wonder if they ever became a couple. He's only 7 years older than her.

2nd: Joker
Also known as Wang. He had an appearance in one of the Suikogaidens I believe. Nash worked under him. He's a pretty good fist fighter, and a good mage. He'd be number 1 if Marco wasn't so important to me. Most of Geddoe's unit is very awesome. Joker likes to get drunk a lot. Though just by looking at him, you might could tell he was a drinker. I wonder if he and his unit will appear in a future Suikoden or not.

1st: Marco
Ahh Marco. Marco supplies like 6,000,000 patch to me every time I start my journey in the game. His little cup game is easily manipulated. With enough patience, he provides a good amount of the funds that go towards the Liberation Army. Without him, I might've been stuck looking for funds for armor and weapons. I just wonder how he got all that money. Also though he was a she for the longest time. Looked like an old woman to me. *Shrug*

Chiman Star[]

5th: Gen
Don't really care about Gen. He's important for all of 4 minutes in the game. "Oh we need a boat to get past the rapids." "Oh we need a boat to get our army to the fortress." Beyond that, about nothing. Though his relationship with Kamandol is okay I guess. *Shrug*

4th: Wan Fu
Wan Fu reminds me a lot of Rikimaru. He has an awesome phoenix tattoo on his back, and that's about all he has going for him. He's not weak. I never used him that much though. Don't remember him all that well. Like the other guy, he never settles his revenge quest.

3rd: Tov
Tov built the ship, which makes him more important than a good 90% of the characters in Suikoden IV. It's a pretty cool ship too. Though I suppose he's also to blame for all the sailing.>_> Then again it IS the island nations.

2nd: Amada
Another Island Nations guy. It wasn't until 2 games later that we visited his nation, though it was way in the past. So he didn't make an appearance. I wonder if he's related to Tov at all. I liked his duel, so he gets 2nd place.

1st: Muroon
The beaver! Like I said, Beavers are Naval Gods. Gnaw Gnaw Gnaw. This guy designed Hatred Fortress (who the hell named that place? I'd be suspicious of Hatred Fortress if I was well... anyone). Muroon is the smart one, and seems more willing to get involved with Humans. Which makes him pretty awesome. I like how the beavers go from human-hating elves to normal creatures that understand that there are good and bad of everything.

Chisui Star[]

5th: Phil
I don't remember him like at all. He's a tailor, and that's about all. He makes clothes. Not very important. Kind of creepy looking.

4th: Eike
Also creepy looking. He'd be ranked higher if he didn't have that whole "going to a quiet place to read" thing in one of Thoma's chapters. Any chapter where I'm forced to use Thomas and the such to do fighting, especially early on, I'm not a huge fan of. Otherwise, he's just rather quiet.

3rd: Hugo (Suikoden I)
Not to be confused with Suikoden III Hugo. Had minimal importance. Though he also gets points for being the Toran Republic's first Chief Justice. That kind of came out of nowhere though. Didn't it? I mean I thought so at least.

2nd: Emilia
Emilia gets points for being the sorta-hot librarian. She also gets points for being the principal of Greenhill Academy after the game ends. She's not a bad librarian, and fairly important storyline wise. She's Teresa's decoy. She also helps the students get enrolled. Pretty awesome.

1st: Alhazred
Gets MAJOR MAJOR points for being a major nod to the Cthulhu mythos. Alhazred is looking for a book when you first meet him. And he can't seem to find it. Of course the funny Euram Barows has it. He tries to use it to curse the Prince, but that doesn't quite work. He helps provide for a hilarious scene, and a pretty good rune with the Condemnation Rune. A pretty cool guy. Also the one guy you can get early, and use to get Genoh.

Chisyu Star[]

5th: Eugene
Eugene is kind of eh. He wants to become stronger, but his overbearing mother pushes him too hard. I wonder if he's at all related to Richard somewhere along the line. Though I highly doubt it. It just seems both had overbearing parents wanting them to fight..

4th: Bergen
Meh. Bergen is.... can you even call him an apprentice? More like a slave. He just wants to see Magic. Meh. Why doesn't he just get a rune, and use it himself? Not smart enough I guess. Would be last were it not for Eugene.

3rd: Leo
Leo is pretty tough. So I'll give him credit there. He's not a horrible character, but not one of my favorites either. He's one of the Six Knights of Zexen. I like his Axe, but his personality could use some work on. He could be... I don't know nicer, and not so gruff.

2nd: Hellion
Hellion gets a lot of points for giving you the blinking mirror. She takes Leknaats place after the war is over. She's a pretty good mage, and comes with a Mother Earth Rune. Though I've never really used her. I might in a future playthrough. We'll see. I do plan on playing through the series again soon.

1st: Zamza
Zamza is.. Zamza. Some think he's from Armes (that'd be cool). He's arrogant. But I like how he thinks that magic users should be strong of mind and body. Still, I never really used him much. Not so fond of this star I guess. Could've done better.

Chiin Star[]

5th: Ronald
Not your typical Human-hating elf I guess, but still not a big fan of him. He always managed to piss me off somehow. I don't remember why it was. He just came off as a jerk to me. My least favorite of the Zexen Knights I suppose. He uses a bow in battle. Good for him. OH LOOK ELVEN STEREOTYPE! All elves use bows. WHY!? Also he's rather Barbarous. >_>

4th: Mina
Mina is cute. She's a dancer. I never used her much, but that might change in future playthroughs. We'll see on that one. She's easy to get to join you. She provides entertainment. So I can't say much bad about her. Just not all that important.

3rd: Mitsuba
A rather cute girl who's a conartist that's capable of fighting quite well. She holds something over Reinholds head. Not even she knows exactly what it is, which is funny. He just assumed she knew. So she can get him to do anything. Mitsuba isn't so bad. One of the better Suikoden IV characters I'd say.

2nd: Karen
Karen is hot. I love how you recruit her, and she's a mainstay in my party. Did I mention she's hot? She's always in my final party in Suikoden II believe it or not. I'm not sure why. But she has been. I just like her character. She was a student of Mina's, which is a pretty cool connection. She fights with nails, which is pretty cool too.

1st: Miakis
<3 Miakis. She's totally awesome. One of my favorite Queen's Knights. She's amazing. She's funny. She's cute. She's a good fighter, and good with magic. She's also a mainstay in my party when I get her. She's kind of funny around the dragonhorses. I've already gotten my wifes permission to name our first daughter Miakis >_> Yeah. Miakis is just awesome. I love the scene where she threatens to dump Euram in the Feitas river. I'm sure that Mathias would've loved that. Miakis is dedicated to Lym. It's a heartbreaking scene when she fights the prince, being a queen's knight the only thing she has left. She blamed Georg for killing the Queen- which while true, she only knew half of the story. Miakis is one of the only remaining Queen's Knights after the war.

Chii Star[]

5th: Lilan
OH GOD NOT ANOTHER MERMAID. Yes, that's all I'm going to say.

4th: Lo Wen
Lo Wen is okay. A decent Lampdragon Bandit. Not someone I ever used. She was abducted by Neclord. She's not really anything special. At the end of the game she opened a Restaurant. Seems kind of random but meh.

3rd: Sharon
Sharon is Millia's daughter. She gets a Gold Dragon (Let me guess, Gold) after the game is over, which is cool. Sharon is only 15. If she were older, she might be cooler, but she's kind of a brat in Suikdoen III. If she appears in a future Suikoden, it'd be interesting to see what she does.

2nd: Sharmista
Sharmista is from Armes, and is very tolerant of other cultures. She's very pretty. Shula's invasion of Estrise is the nicest invasion in the history of invasions. I mean they were essentially on vacation. Sharmista pretty much replaces Sialeeds. Fighting with the same weapon even. I like Sharmista though. And use her pretty often.

1st: Milia
Milia is the new leader of the Dragon's den. She's a mother, which surprised me in Suikoden III. She has her own dragon - Thrash. Thrash takes the party to a much secluded location. Probably multiple times if you wanted to get the master blacksmith. Unless you for some reason loved using the blacksmiths in battle all the time, in which case- more power to you! Milia now bears the True Dragon Rune. I wonder how long she'll keep it...

Chiri Star[]

5th: Zunda
Oh boy. I don't like this star. Oh look, the WINDOW MAKER. How useful she must be. To change the COLOR OF YOUR WINDOWS. Okay yeah, I changed my window color I'll admit, but still. Zunda makes you travel all the way to Lunas just to show her a window. WANDEW, as she says. Meh, never cared for Dwarven women.

4th: Tengou
Another window changer! I remember him. He's in Tinto. That's about all. But you don't have to DRAG HIM all the way to Lunas to get him to join. So he's higher rated.

3rd: Nataly
Oh look, another window changer! I'm surprised this wasn't the window changer star. It kind of is, but it lacks well... Window. Moderately cute, and survives an awful attack, so she gets points. Easy to recruit at least. You don't have to DRAG HER all the way to Lunas to get her to join.

2nd: Kamandol
Pretty sad when Kamandol, whom I don't care for too much, is ranked 2nd. But at least he deals with boats, and Gen. That's about it, but it's still something. He's kind of an old man. He enjoys tea. He's a bit eccentric if you ask me.

1st: Nicolas
Oh wow. Nicolas of all people is 1st? That's wow... I mean I don't dislike Nicolas or anything. He's got a huge ****ing shield. But he's not exactly all that interesting. He's a member of Duke's unit. I never liked their unit much. Geddoe's was so much better. But anyway. He's okay I guess.

Chisyun Star[]

5th: Nao
It's the guy who grows mints. They randomly join you. Oh how wonderful. Not.

4th: Gadget Z
The gadget upgrade. Would be ranked higher but I hated having to get a screw for it. Meg designed it. So it should be better, but nope.

3rd: Gadget
Slightly better. It's still a barrel... the joining scene is kind of funny though. Built by Juppo. I don't have much to say about these things. It's not that I dislike the star, it's just not so important.

2nd: Sorensen
Sorensen... how useless you are for the most part. Yet I can't help but like you. He's nice, and takes all of Babbage's crap. he even puts up with Lu. That's got to be good for something. not very useful,b ut very friendly. Necessary to recruit Babbage. I really like that actually. Allows for kind of an upgrade.

1st: Juppo
Juppo. The original trickster. Meg's uncle. I never really used him in battle at all. But at least he designs some cool stuff. Meg joins because of him. But one thing that gives him the 1st place over all - is that his best weapon is called METAL GEAR!? Seriously, that's awesome. I'm thinking it was intentional, since konami made both Metal Gear and Suikoden.

Chiraku Star[]

5th: Etienne
This guy looks weird. Don't really remember him that well. The Suiko 4 cast wasn't that memorable. But these other characters are awesome anyway. So yeah. He gets last.

4th: Nei
A member of the troop along with Toppo and Shabon. An elf woman who likes ROLAND?! ROLAND!? Anyway, with that out of the way. She's fairly attractive for an elf woman, and not completely an evil psychopath. So she gets points for that. Still the others are cooler.

3rd: Kasios
Raise your hand if you thought Kasios was a girl. *raises hand*. Sadly until my 4th playthrough I not only did not know Kasios was a man- but I did not know where he was in my castle. I found him by accident, and was like "whoa".

2nd: Cornelio
MEDIOCRITIES! Suikoden V had arguably the best music in the entire series. At least I thought so. Collecting the DoReMi Elves was a pain though. If it weren't for that, he'd have gotten 1st place. Collecting those darn elves wore me out. Luckily once you do it, you don't have to on future playthroughs, MEDIOCRITIES!

1st: Annalee
Annalee gets first because she doesn't have you go around collecting elves. She's very cute. She has no voice when she sings! That's Konami's fault though. The poor girl is unable to get room and board by singing. But she joins the Dunan Unification Army, which gives her room and board. So good for her!

Chitatsu Star[]

Or Ranking the Viki's

5th: Suikoden I Viki
Suiokden I Viki was an invaluable resource in the game. Though she wasn't playable. Viki was just some girl who teleported into your life, and then after the war was over, POOF she was gone. Poor Viki never gets to eat the feast at the end of the game.

4th: Suikoden II Viki
Viki was just as valuable in II as she was in I. It was in this game that she was actually first playable. I never used her, but at least the option was there. In a future playthrough I WILL use her. Gotta love Viki though. She and Jeane make this series an incredible journey. Well, the storylines are awesome anyway, but they certainly make it all the better.

3rd: Suikoden III Viki
Still wearing very conservative clothing in this game, Viki was extremely useful. Imagine having to go between screens ALL THE TIME! It was almost as bad as sailing in Suikoden IV honestly.

1st: Suikdoen IV Viki
This Viki is IMO the hottest Viki. Yeah. A lot less conservative than her earlier appearances.Suikoden IV without Viki would be... Hell. Yeah. That pretty much sums it up. Without Viki, the game would be unplayable. But thanks to her, the game isn't too bad. Her teleportation in IV is more important than in any of the other games. She'd get 1st here, if it weren't for some better dialog from her in V.

1st: Suikoden V Viki
Suikoden V Viki takes 1st for her usefulness in battle. She's a great mage. She teleports you where you need to go. Fate is a hilarious co-op attack. Not to mention she has a good one with Genoh too. She's also way hotter in this version than in 1, 2, and 3. Then you have the fact that she gives you the blinking mirror pretty easily. She mentions she's met Jeane in many places and many times. She's picked on by Lorelai. Viki just keeps getting better and better in each game.

Chisoku Star[]

5th: Kate
Kate sadly gets last because she was in Suikoden IV. Not too important, but she gets points for being friends with Mizuki I guess.

4th: Little Viki
Much <3 for Viki, but we don't need two. Especially one who cannot teleport you. Serious Viki is kind of funny. But still. Not too bad. But I can't say she's better than the others either just because she's Viki #2.

3rd: Koyu
Another Lampdragon Bandit. Koyu petitions the Dunan Unification Army for help. Good for him. Just not a really big fan of him either. Don't dislike him exactly... I just don't favor him either.

2nd: Rubi
A TOLERANT ELF? IN MY SUIKODEN?! Unthinkable. So of course he gets kicked out of the elf village. Cause he has the audacity to not hate humans. Wow. Man this guy should be locked up. He's like a more powerful version of Kirkis pretty much. Hard to get you to join though. Still, a pretty cool character who was occasionally in my party.

1st: Zweig
Georg Prime thinks Zweig is important enough to go with him in the Ashtwal Mountains. I like Zweig. He's the best perhaps of the Sindar Obsessed characters. I like how Lucretia says he's not evil- and he won't kill you, at least not right away. He's crucial to getting the Ceras Lake HQ. He's strict with Lorelai, and tells of Killey, so he's awesome in my book..

Chichin Star[]

4th: Augustine
Augustine is disturbing for a Narcissist. Don't particularly like him. I mean the rest I thought were at least mildly entertaining and the such. But no.. Augustine was more disturbing than anything else. Not really all that useful in battle either.

3rd: Charlemagne
A little less disturbing than Augustine. Yes. Just a little. He's got a cool Co-Op at least. Aside from that, I can't remember much other than he was friends with Reinbach. I like how the Narcissists in Suikoden games happen to be OVERLY Narcissistic.

2nd: Josephine
AKA Yuma. She's Shula's sister. She's from Armes. easy to get to join you- just Bring Sialeeds. She considers herself a Fashion Diva- which I like, because she doesn't require some stupid Rose Brooch. Yay for that. Not too useful in battle though. But definitely a diva. A good Narcissist really. If a little weird with her costume suggestions.

1st: Vincent
Ahh Vincent. He's pretty interesting. A good friend really. He helps the liberation army get to the Dragon's Den. He takes your money unfortunately, but ahh what can you do. Not a fan of the peasants... wonder why. He seems like a spoiled rich guy, but those who are his friends, are good friends. He's playable in Suikoden II, but I never used him. Still the first Narcissist, and so far the best.

Chikei Star[]

4th: Belle
Eh, never really cared for Belle despite being Meg's daughter. She's just not as awesome as her mother. Barely used her or her gadget (Z). A nice reference to Meg, but not much else really.

3rd: Rita
Rita is pretty cool with her minigames, and the amulet she gives Lazlo. Not terribly important, but she's still somewhat involved with the plot. Wonder if she's one of Meg's ancestors or something. I guess not though.

2nd: Lu
Bam Bam Bam Girl. This girl would totally post on board 8 if she existed in real life. Not very cute like Rita is, but still hilarious. She has nicknames for a lot of people. Lelcar Number 2! Apprentice Number 1! i wonder how she has friends. KEWL *SQUEE*

1st: Meg
Meg is cute in Suikoden II. Very cute. She's also pretty awesome. Oddly enough she has a daughter at the age of 18. So yeah... no wonder Juppo was worried about her. Her and Gadget are a hilarious duo. Too bad she wasn't in Suikoden III instead of her daughter. Or maybe both could've been in. Would've been nice to have a mother and daughter like that. She'd only be like.. 30. So yeah.

Chima Star[]

5th: Mukumuku
It's a flying Squirrel. Man, do I not care about him. I missed him almost on my first playthrough. Got him later than I should've originally. Kind of meh really. not much else to say about him. He's just a flying... Squirrel.

4th: Taggart
Taggart delivers a message, then has no importance to the rest of the game in Suikoden I. Yeah. The dog beats that. Yes, THE DOG.

3rd: Kokoru
Gotta like Kokoru. One of the best of the six POV's. He knows Jeane's secret! He should tell us her secret, but nope! He won't! WHY NOT?! I want to know. Oh well. He's not important outside of that.

2nd: Oleg
Oleg is pretty cool- he invented the Camera. The camera which never surfaces again sadly, but still it's a COOL thing. I'd love to have seen it in Suikoden V. Like have an option to take pictures. That'd be incredible.

1st: Maroon
Maroon is a beaver, so he gets major props. GNAW owns on the river. He's also Fuwalufuwalu's assistant, and later becomes the leader of the beavers. Good for him. He also becomes friends with Toma. Which is cool. He seems tolerant of humans, unlike Moroon. Maroon fights with a hammer.

Chiyou Star[]

5th: Arthur
Too young to be a journalist. One thing I hated about Suikoden III was that a lot of the cast was kids/teens. Arthur is a young boy writing a newspaper. It just seems to... and then you have Thomas? It's just... why weren't there more adults to join you in Suikoden III that weren't I don't know... Lizards or Ducks?

4th: Giovanni
Eh, never liked him. Didn't let you talk with Lepant. Semi-useful, but kind of a coward. Not very important in the end of things.

3rd: Perrault
Perraut isn't a kid, and he isn't the coward type that Giovanni was. So yeah. Perrault gets props for that I guess. Don't remember much about him otherwise.

2nd: Marlowe
Marlowe is pretty cool. Fairly important. Mentioned in Suikoden III. Marlowe loves reading. He lives in Tinto. He becomes the first Minister of the Tinto Republic. Marlowe and Koyu became friends during the war. Apparently has has a crush on Lily, which is kind of creepy if you ask me...

1st: Taylor
Taylor is awesome. Important to the plot- he not only delivers the letter from Wasil but he also helps take over Doorat. Taylor is a great reporter. Easy to get to join you- and not a kid either. Furthermore, his articles are awesome. I love reading them. He also helps recruit Raven. So he's easily the most important of them, and he's just plain awesome anyway.

Chiyu Star[]

5th: Kidd
Kidd ugh... another- KID that joins. He's not a detective. The duck mystery was kind of funny, but also stupid. I can't stand Kidd. He's only like 11 years old. He shouldn't be a detective. Again- why not an adult star here? What was Suikoden III's obsession with kids? I don't get it!

4th: Quincy
Quincy' is a hunter. At least he (thought he was a she for a LONG time) can be used in battle. Which puts him above Kidd easily. Not very important otherwise. easy to recruit. Would've been nice for some background info.

3rd: Deborah
Deborah is kind of okay I guess. Not a big fan of her, but she helps you recruit all 108 stars of destiny. She's sort of a detective. At least she's not a child!

2nd: Richmond
Richmond is awesome. Providing facts on characters and all that. He's the reason the army gets Shu on their side, which is awesome. I love how he does that. I like his trick coin too. How he'll always win, until you discover on your own that he's cheating. AN important skill to have. Great detective. He looks kind of like gumshoe lol.

1st: Oboro
Oboro is awesome. VERY Important to the storyline. He may not help get your strategist- but he helps you get the Dawn Rune, and helps take Doorat. not only that, but he provides useful information on everything. not to mention he was once a member of Nethergate- lead of the Intelligence division. After the war he goes to hunt the remaining members of that organization. His background alone makes him awesome. But then you also have the fact that he invented business cards. I like how he gives them to everyone. He's kind of quirky. He took Shigure and Sagiri in. Fuyo helps him run the business. Oboro is the best detective in the series hands down.

Chifuku Star[]

3rd: Apple
The 2nd worst strategist in the series. I can't stand Apple. In Suikoden I, she hates you for taking away Mathiu and brining him back to war. Wha Wha Wha. She's only better than Eleanor. In Suikoden II her abilities aren't sufficient. I don't know why she became a strategist in the first place. I guess it's Maithu's fault. Darn Maithu. She begs Shu to join. Then she travels with Leon's grandson. Not sure how Leon allowed that to happen. Guess he didn't have much say or something.

2nd: Agnes
Agnes is attractive. An assistant to the worst strategist in the series. I'd say she's actually better than Eleanor. In fact, she actually is the one who plans the last battle in the game. Agnes probably becomes a better strategist after getting a better teacher. She may have married a silverberg, or might even be related to the Windamier family. But that's all 100% speculation on my part, and my part alone. Though she did travel to Scarlet Moon....

1st: Lelei
Gotta love Lelei. She's got a thing for Lucretia. She's a better strategist than Apple. Though Zahhak burns down Lelcar, I think that she did the best that she could. It's not like Lelcar was lost- and who could anticipate that Zahhak would burn down the town except maybe Lucretia herself. Lelei is awesome. Hopefully she becomes a better strategist, learning under Lucretia.

Chihi Star[]

5th: Kenji
Ugh. I can't stand this exercise guy. He's annoying. Very much so. Cant' stand him ONE SINGLE BIT. I hate recruiting him, and in fugure playthroughs where I don't plan to get all 108, he will be one I skip. He disturbs me greatly. He does have a hot wife, whom you never get to meet. As well as a kid. Too bad. they might've made me like him.

4th: Trishtan
The hypochondriac who's placebo is nothing but flour. Funny, so he gets above Kenji pretty easily. Also has a pretty cool co-op attack.

3rd: Kai
Kai is awesome. I get him as early as I can any more. I use him for quite some time. He has an awesome Co-Op with Tir McDohl. He's in SUikoden II as well I believe. Kind of an old man, he's still very tough. One of the cooler characters in his star honestly.

2nd: L.C. Chan
Street Fighter wannabe. He's the master of the Eat and Run. Which is funny. I always find that funny. Wakaba is his student. Which is pretty cool. I love getting him to join my team. He dreamed of owning his own Dojo, which was pretty cool. I hope he got to open it eventually. If one of the freaking Lampdragon Bandits get a dinner, he should get his dojo!

1st: Genoh
It's a Giant Turtle! Before watching Zen play Suikoden V, I wouldn't have put Genoh at the top. But now. It's like, not even close. He's a giant turtle! How does he get around? Zen has a good point on that. I mean, he couldn't fit in some rooms very well. Not to mention he has to be slow. What about the elevator? The stairs? Too bad we never get to see Zen's dream of Egbert riding Genoh into battle come true. Gotta love the old-person loving Turtle. He likes to tell long stories too. Genoh is just awesome, don't you doubt it!

Chiku Star[]

5th: Meroon
Nuoh! I don't dislike her, but the others are just so much better. If she had Gnaw, she'd be ranked a lot higher. That I guarantee.

4th: Millie
I like Millie somewhat, and Bonaparte- the weird pet from the grasslands. Too bad she wasn't in Suikoden III. Though that'd mean no Mel, and Mel was cool. Millie I never used very much, but I've heard she's useful. To get her, you have to actually fight a boss, so that counts for something.

3rd: Lotte
Lotte wants to find her cat Mina. Once you do so, she joins you. She's a fairly cute girl I guess. Not very important to the storyline. Never really used her very much. Just didn't find her useful. That's pretty much it for her I guess.

2nd: Noah
Noah is a cute little girl who makes people think she's a Nay kolbold. Why she wants to do that I don't know. She's useful as a support, because of her skill that helps you gain money. She gets points for that. Noah is awesome. So she gets 2nd easily.

1st: Mel
Mel is one of my favorite Suikoden III characters. A cute girl who has a puppet- or is it? Branky is a rude thing on her arm, that gets punished often. Is she just a ventriloquist? Or is Branky real? Who knows. But I typically use her quite a bit in Thomas's chapters I think. Though I could be wrong. She uses Branky as a weapon as well.

Chiko Star[]

5th: Peggi
Peggi is a Lizard Clan member. not a fan of those guys. Just because they're far too barbarous. Man, the elves would not likes these guys. Urda would be like "Humans are okay" after meeting them I think. Peggi isn't too hard to get to join you at least I guess.

4th: Mace
Mace is hard to get to join you, but gets points for being the only blacksmith you ever REALLY need. Except the others are needed to get him. I hate having to drag them out there to get him. Why not just let him say "Oh, they're at the castle? Okay I'll join". ARGH!

3rd: Tessai
Tessai would be higher if he didn't join so late. You need a blacksmith earlier in the game. But nope- you don't get one at the castle until later. Blech. Could've been done better if you ask me.

2nd: Adrienne
Adrienne is the blacksmith of Suikoden IV. You get her pretty early, so no complaints there. ESPECIALLY WITH A SHIP. I mean geez, how much it'd suck to have to go back and forth between ships to level up weapons. yeah...

1st: Dongo
Dongo is a good blacksmith. I like his scenes with Wabon. Though for a while I thought his boss was a vampire, the way he was throwing around the word IMPALE. Foold me there. Not TOO hard to get to join you. Just need two hammers. And not too hard to access either. Not a bad dwarf.

Chizen Star[]

5th: Onil
Totally useless. At least for me she was. Rumors? Couldn't she at least change what she says more often?

4th: Martha
Gets above Onil only for her discount ability. Yeah, other than that I didn't like Martha.

3rd: Setsu
I don't care much for this star, if you can't tell. Setsu gets above the others for trying to moon the Kooluk Empire. Otherwise he seems like a total jerk.

2nd: Taki
Taki is a helpful old lady, so she gets points for that. She helps you recruit characters. The nice old lady is very useful, though you DO have Richmond.

1st: Fuyo
I like Fuyo. She's not a great character- though her minigame is fun. She works with Oboro, Shigure, and Sagiri. They're like a family. Her family apparently abandoned her which is kind of sad. But she's not all that important. I couldn't have seen her as a member of Nethergate. Fuyo was Oboro's first client.

Chitan Star[]

5th: Nalkul
Oh man, a Nay Kobold. I hate that race. Creepy as hell. And this guy steals the golden seal. So he loses mega points for that. A cat and a thief. Geez. Well I guess it could be worse- he could be a strategist too. And maybe required to use.

4th: Wilder
Oh man, a Duck. Not a fan of that race either. Hard to take talking ducks seriously. Scrooge Mcduck lass, Scrooge McDuck. Can umm. Ducks and people actually breed? Cause um if they can... yeah. I'm not sure I want to touch that one.

3rd: Kuromimi
A kobold who accuses you of killing his friends (well you DO kill some of them). He later forces his way into your party, and then becomes fairly unimportant later. Didn't like him forcing his way into your party.

2nd: Gengen
Captain Gengen. He thinks he's a captain, but he's really not. Riou later outranks him, so it's funny. Hard to believe he'd be second of all people... err dogs. Leona convinced him to 'babysit' Tuta and Riou.

1st: Logg
Logg is AWESOME. He's got a cool boat. He's hilarious too. He tries to steal gold from Lunas, and is lucky he's not executed. He's overprotective of his daughter, not that you can blame him. He's a smuggler too. He's hilarious. I like how he helps destroy Hatred Fortress, or at least the evacuation of it. Logg is way above the rest of these guys. Curious as to how he got to marry Kisara. He's a bit of an idiot, but I won't hold that against him. He's important throughout the game.

Chikaku Star[]

5th: Champo
Cooler than Nakul, but still a Nay-Freaking-Kolbold. Can't bring myself to like that race very much. I mean really. Ugh!

4th: Rhett
Rhett is much better than Wilder. But still, not a fan of them. Their obsession with the Alma-Kinan clan makes me worry very much for the Alma-Kinan girls. Just how do they reproduce? Duck-meN? I'm sure there is *shudder* a certain rule that this fits under

3rd: Gabocha
The mysterious "I joined, but didn't tell you" star. He's just a Kolbold of little importance. At least that's how I see it.

2nd; Gon
I didn't like him until I learned he can help you gamble a lot. He has a high luck stat. So whoo for that! Other than that, mostly useless. Yeah.

1st: Lun
Lun clearly... takes after her mother if you catch my drift. Some hilarious bath scenes with her in it. She's important, and one of the first characters to join you. I want to user her more on my current playthrough of Suikoden V. She's pretty cool, as is her mother. They have nice big... tracks of land. Yeah. Lun is also funny. She acts like her father, but looks more like her mother. Which is a good thing, I'm sure.

Chisyu Star[]

5th: Louis
Louis is actually somewhat of a cook. Good for him! He's pretty cool I guess. I just have to rank him last because he's a bit young. I don't think he's playable which is unfortunate.

4th: Funghi
Funghi's hair looks like a mushroom. Pretty interesting that he appears early in the game, since Suikoden IV has this way of "Oh hey! I'm joining your party!" Yeah. So he gets points for that. Plus he's a good chef. So, cool.

3rd: Yuzu
The little girl who lost her sheep. Meh, I don't remember what she did for the castle. It's cool that she names her livestock "hamburger" and stuff like that though. Poor little girl. Her task is hard. If i was her age, I don't think I could do it. Taro is the one sheep she looks after though, so that's gotta be a bonus. I'd be sad if Taro died.:

2nd: Antoino
1. He fights with a frying pan. Really that's all you need to know. But if you need to know more- 2. He helps Hai Yo. So yeah. That's enough for me right there. Not important otherwise, but who cares? He's just a chef! Not my favorite Chef mind. But he's cool still.

1st: Shun Min
Shun Min loves the fishies. Shun Min's story is sad. She died protecting the blue moon bird recipe. I'm glad she made an appearance in Suikoden V, because it made her feel more important to me. She loved Seriyu with all her heart. Her father Retso is an amazing chef. It's too bad he too did not understand her ideals. She doesn't like when customers don't finish their food in Suikoden V, and she loves to raise the fishies.

Chizou Star[]

5th: Pecola
Useless interior designer from Suikoden IV. Was the Ornament room really necessary? I don't remember what happened in there.

4th: Mamie
Mamie is cool for being the daughter of someone you face in the Cook offs in Suikoden II. But really her coolness ends there. She's also a teenager. I don't see why they couldn't make her like.. 21. That'd make a lot more sense. Yeah. Also playable. I don't think she was- but I could be wrong on that.

3rd: Lester
Ahh Lester. He helps Hai Yo, and fights with a Wok. That's cool. Never really used him, but still A WOK!

2nd: Retso
Retso would get first if in Suikoden V there were cooking duels. Seriously. That's all he lacks. Would it kill them to add them? I guess so.. man Cooking Duels were awesome. They could've added a lot more recipes. Different challengers, for different reasons. Retso is the only chef to defeat Hai Yo (whom I keep trying to call Tai Ho). though he used trickery to do so.

1st: Hai Yo
The greatest chef in the Suikoverse. He married Shun Min. Then tragedy struck. He joined the Dunan Unification Army to hide from the Black Dragon Clan- which he was once one of the leaders of. Then COOKING DUELS! Those were the best. I mean really. There wasn't much better in terms of mini games than the cooking duels. It beats the Theater hard. I mean you just can't compare to the cooking duel. That alone earns him the top spot. But then you add in the fact he's a great chef, who's got a good story- and you get an awesome character. <3 Hai Yo

Chihei Star[]

5th: Ruby
It's a Mantor. It's Franz's mount. Not a fan of bugs. They're kind of well... icky? Yeah that's the word. This is a giant but. Tough, but not a character I care much about.

4th: Maxine
Maxine is a mercenary whom you can duel once or twice I think. She joins you eventually, and is pretty awesome. Too bad she becomes a hermit after the game is over.

3rd: Kirke
Kirke is only this high because he's an executioner and gives Lorelai his axe. I mean he's kind of boring otherwise. I mean he gives up being an executioner to be a...farmer? I'd love to have seen him execute Sancho. I'd almost pay to see that. Too bad...

2nd: Kahn Marley
Kahn gets a lot of points for, despite being fairly minor, having a good history. His family have been hunting vampires a very long time. I like that about him. He joins early in the game, but leaves, only to join much later. He also comes with a Resurrection Rune. Awesome.

1st: Egbert
FILTHY DEVILS! How could someone put anyone but Egbert in 1st for this star? Or many of the others for that matter. THEY ARE NOTHING BUT FILTHY DEVILS! THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERY BAD THING TO HAPPEN IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD! UNSEASONABLE PLANT GROWTHS! MICE IN THE SEWERS! Ahem, i got a bit carried away. I hope I didn't seem too.. Well Egbert is awesome. But not just for his amazing personality, and awesome voice. Not to mention his awesome grudge against the Godwins. Why he doesn't become a senator after the war is over is beyond me. But his Potch Finder ability... that came in SO handy. I mean he helps provide funds for the True Falenan Army. Big Time. And it's no wonder- HE HATES THEM GODWIN DEVILS SO MUCH!

Chison Star[]

5th: Rock
Rock is kind of cool I guess. He keeps your items. Very important. But aside from that, he didn't have much personality. He seemed kind of bland to me. I guess it's the limitations of the time that caused that. Though Suikoden II is much improved over it...

4th: Muto
It's hard to dislike Muto. He seems so nice. He's kind of stupid, but that's part of his charm really. I don't have a problem with Muto, but he's not really one of my favorite storage keepers.

3rd: Basil
A friend of Lazlo's from the beginning. He has a minigame. He doesn't store stuff for you like the others do. But he's not a bad guy. Has a personality at least.

2nd: Barbara
Barbara is awesome if only for the trick Shu uses to chase Highland out of the Matilda Knightdom. Reinforcements indeed. Poor Barbara was poisoned over the course of the game. Luckily the antidote is won in time to save her.

1st: Chuck
Chuck is awesome. He cares much for Luserina. But he's kind of dumb. He guards the Dawn Rune without knowing it. Trusting that oaf Salum Barows. Though I guess a lot of people make that mistake. You get to duel Chuck, which makes me wonder why he's not playable. Oh well. I wouldn't use him much any way. Besides, he does kind of have to look after your goods and stuff. VERY useful. Wouldn't know what to do without Chuck sometimes. Especially with how fast your inventory fills in New Game + games.

Chido Star[]

5th: Igor
A gambler, who has two mini games apparently. Don't remember him all too well. But hey, he had mini games at least.

4th: Landis
Landis is hard to find, and has blood armor equipped to him. He's related to Sid, and a Winger, which makes him alright I guess. The last 3 letters of his name backwards spell Sid. I remember some people speculating they were the same person. But that was a long time ago.

3rd: Ledon
Ledon almost stole money from Odessa. Luckily Kessler stopped him. He and Kessler both manage to join. After the war, he runs an honest inn. He also helps the Liberation Army learn the secret of Bandit Tea, which is almost used on them later.

2nd: Byakuren
It's a giant snake! You have to love that. She's usually in one of my final parties actually. She's not exactly weak, and you don't have to waste money on her- and again, she's a giant snake. Imagine if - in Final Fantasy VII - Midgar Zolom joined your party. Would you not be like "AWESOME!".

1st: Sid
Sid gets 1st for teasing Chaco all the time. He's a little creepy though. He and Landis both create graves for the fish they eat. I mean WTF. What would Shun Min say about that? lol. Sid likes to scare people. So he's pretty cool for a winger. I wasn't a big fan of the race, but they're not so bad really.

Chisatsu Star[]

5th: Kathy
Kathy is Melville's half-sister. Which is kind of important I guess. She'd be ranked higher if she were playable. Unfortunately she's not. I hated how you have to count her horses or whatever it was to get her to join. That was kind of difficult, and sometimes you'd just get one wrong. She opened up the horse races I think.

4th: Sylvina
Sylvina and Kirkis are in love. Her grandfather is the elder of Elf village. She doesn't seem to like humans because they die early. GREAT REASONING THERE SYLVINA. They die quickly, so why like them? They're useless! 80 years, and they're dead! Seriously. Luckily she does survive thanks to Stallion, and his amazing speed.

3rd: Lilin
Lilin is the best of the mermaids I guess. Most important too. So it's no surprise. She's not that bad I guess. She's looking for her sisters. She also gives you gifts early on in the game, which is awesome. She has perhaps the funniest scene in the game where she talks about "THE CAT". "The Cat tried to kill the masters child." "I want you to get rid of the master for me." "Then the cat will come back." "Then the thing that I hate will be gone." So funny. Love the scene.

2nd: Shin
Shin is awesome. Too bad he and Teresa don't end up together. Shin is her bodyguard. I like when Flick follows him around. He's a swordsman from the southlands. Shin is good in battle, though I rarely use him. I like Teresa, so it's natural I like Shin I suppose. Though he doesn't trust your party for a good while. He helps Greenhill a lot.

1st: Kisara
Kisara has big... tracts of land. VERY Big ones. Yeah. She is second in command of Raftfleet. Who knows what she saw in Logg. I like how Raftfleet women pay their debts back twice. That's awesome. Kisara punishes Logg and Lun making them skin 1000 fish. OUCH. Talk about harsh. Kisara... I never used her in battle much, but in my next playthrough of Suikoden V I've been trying to. Though it's not easy. Kisara represents Raftfleet when you're with the Barows faction. She's not too important afterwards, but she does have some funny bath scenes.

Chiaku Star[]

5th: Karl
Karl is just searching for ways to increase his strength. I never used him in battle, so that didn't happen for him. The jokes on him!

4th: Emily
Emily is a pretty good character. To get her to join you have to beat her in arm wrestling. She's good friends with a lot of people at the castle. It was a nice connection to Suikoden I- with her mom being Ronnie Bell, and her dad being Mose.

3rd: Ronnie Bell
Ronnie Bell gets over her daughter ffor the Giant woman scene with Ledon and Kessler. So funny. She's a powerful woman, with a large stature. She tries to go to homemaking after the war, but that didn't turn out so well. I guess she and Mose continued living happily, especially since Emily doesn't seem disappointed about anything.

2nd: Oulan
Oulan also has large... tracts of land. Yeah. She's actually fairly attractive for a large woman. Recruiting her leads Riou to getting beat up by some bandits. I wish THEY had joined. But Oulan is a good bodyguard. She becomes a bodyguard for Sheena after the war. I bet he liked that, even though Oulan was a bit older. Sheena was a bit of a playboy after all. She's very tough, and good to use in battle. Oulan is awesome.

1st: Nikea
Nikea is strangely hot. I mean... she's not all that smart. And at first glance, she's not very attractive. But then.. yeah. It's funny how she wanted to enter the sacred games. Also funny how she fights against the prince. "You know Orok, if I had to choose sides here, I wouldn't choose yours.". She loves to eat. She joins if you win or lose her duel too- which is nice. Nikea is funny to fight. SUPER MOVE DEMBA AVALANCHE! Geez, that must be a regular attack, I think I'll special. Nikea is awesome.

Chisyu Star[]

5th: Billy
Gopu was a fairly fun mini game I guess. But I don't like Billy much. It was hard to get him to join. He's a bit of a shark too. Not that I mind sharks much. He is responsible for Billy and Kathy. Too bad there wasn't more into that.

4th: Gunter
Gunter is the first Chinchirorin Player perhaps. Love the dice game. He's a good gambler, who rather upsets Igor because of his profits. I like Gunter quite a bit, as Chinchirorin is one of my favorite gambling games in the Suikoden series.

3rd: Shilo
Shilo also played Chinchirorin. His connection to Gaspar earns him some points. I don't have much more to say about him than that.

2nd: Linfa
Linfa is another oddly attractive girl. She also creates a new game, which is awesome, though I prefer playing Jeane than her. Linfa cheats, but she quits her cheating habits after she meets the prince. She's glad he trusted her, so she stops cheating. Good for her! She's also a member of Sapphire. She'd be first if she had supplied me with endless amounts of cash.

1st: Gaspar
Gaspar provided me with endless amounts of money, so he gets the top spot. Seriously. I mean were it not for him and Marco, the Liberation army would be POOR. He helped me upgrade all my necessary weapons. Which was awesome. Thanks a lot Gaspar! Chinchirorin is an awesome game, and you made it easy to win a lot of bits. I just wonder where he gets all that money from. I guess he beats Marco in the cup game, and then Marco gets it from... I don't know.

Chisu Star[]

5th: Window
Who... names their kid Window? Seriously. He's a window maker named window. WAY TO GO WITH ORIGINALITY KONAMI!

4th: Mike
Mike would be rated higher, but as of now he seems to be mysterious for the sake of being mysterious. Is he Zaj? I doubt it. Is he a member of the howling voice guild? Doubt it. After Suikdoen V I started wondering if he worked with Nethergate. But again, I doubt it. Will we ever find his secret? Doubt it!

3rd: Alex
Alex is also obsessed with the Sindar, and gets an amazing treasure- his wifes health. Yeah. Those sneaky sindar! No wealth or treasures. Just sickness, and then health. Yep. Too bad. Alex and Hilda make a pretty good couple that run the White Deer Inn. Too bad Alex wasn't playable. He seemed like he should've been with his adventurous spirit.

2nd: Desmond
Desmond is pretty cool. He has a crush on Louise. He seems a lot nicer than Setsu. A LOT nicer. He's kind of a shy guy. He seems to appreciate Lazlo a lot more than the other people do. Which is nice, because Lazlo is fated for bad luck. The poor guy.

1st: Faylon
Faylon was supposed to impersonate Georg Prime- wait. HOW THE HELL DID EURAM THINK THAT WOULD WORK? Seriously. Roy - Prince. Georg - Faylon. BIG difference in the two groups. The people of Sable would know it wasn't Georg when he didn't destroy anybody who stood in his way. Faylon is a bit of a nice guy. He likes Roy, and he likes his sister. Nice guy, never used him much though. Has a cool Co-Op attack with Faylen.

Chiin Star[]

5th: Luce
Luce would be higher than Hilda if she hadn't given birth to Lulu. Because she's not too bad for a crazy Karayan lady I guess. And she adopted Jimba. That's pretty cool. But giving birth to Lulu - outweights all of that. Yeah...

4th: Marie
The Innkeeper who kept Tir Mcdohl in hiding for a while. Which was nice, but then later when you recruit her- NO FREE INN! WHAT?! I hate not having a free in in the Suikoden series. Of all the castle services... the Inn should be free. It's your castle after all. You should just be able to sleep in your room. But no. AT LEAST GIVE US A FREE INN.

3rd: Hilda
Another woman who charges you for staying in the Inn of your own castle. Marina is better than all of em'! She's semi-attractive so she gets rated higher than Marie. Also she reminds me of Jena Elfman a little bit for some reason. Not a great character, but she provides a good service I guess. Too bad it costs.

2nd: Louise
Louise is actually more attractive than I remember. No wonder Ornan and desmond fell for her. She's the bartender, and the mother of Naello. She left him in the care of Dario. Louise is one of the more important, non-storyline wise, characters of Suikoden IV. At least she doesn't charge you for a service that should be free.

1st: Faylen
Faylen is pretty cool. She has a crush on Roy I think. It's unfortunate, since Roy has a thing for Lyon. She was originally meant to pose as Lyon too I think. But I don't see much of a resemblance there either. She's kind of cute, and has a cool co-op with her brother. I missed her and Faylon on my first playthrough. Which I was highly upset about. Seeing their graves was kind of sad. They were the only ones that I missed too.

Chikei Star[]

5th: Sanae Y
Oh look, a 13 year old who joins your army in Suikoden III. I am NOT surprised somehow. I don't know... I get it. They wanted a connection to Suikoden II. That's nice. Really it is. I mean they connected to Freed and Yoshino. I like it, but at the same time... ARGH! So many better choices. Why not Alex and Hilda's son? Pete. He'd be like.... 20 years old. And he'd be a connection to Alex and Hilda. And he wouldn't be a kid. And heck, at least he was IN Suikoden II.

4th: Kevin
Kevin runs a restaurant I think. At least he's not 13. *sigh*. Don't remember much else about him. Can't say much else.

3rd: Zen
Zen gets points for having an AWESOME name. Yeah. He's a farmer, and you need 3 easy to find seeds to get him to join you. I like. Nothing wrong with Zen.

2nd; Bob
Bob is a werewolf, who can stay in human form thanks to a rune he has. He and Ernst are opposites I guess. Bob is pretty cool. One of those "get 80 recruits, and I'll join you!" guys. Seems pretty nice to me. Nice enough any way. I don't have a problem with him. So he gets 2nd for being a werewolf.

1st: Subala
Ahh the inbred hick from Raftfleet. The fishing mini game is strangely addicting. And it's hilarious the things they say when they're fishing. Gotta love it. Subala I never use. Though she does have a cool bath scene with Lun and Kisara. Sadly Subala didn't get looks like they did. But still... I like how she's jealous of Lun. I also like how she doesn't want to join the army until you beat her in fishing. Not to mention the whole prints I wunt to grow stronger liek u letter.

Chisou Star[]

5th: Pam
I don't remember Pam very much. So I'm obviously not going to give her a very high rating. She helps run a cafe or something with Kevin. Not very important. not very cool. Not ranked very high.

4th: Anne
Anne is pretty cool. If she were hotter, she'd be 3rd. But Urda does have her looks going for her. Anne is a drinker. A great drinker. She can drink a lot of people under the table. That's awesome. She'd be better in the game if there were more Adults I'm sure. She changes your party too I think.

3rd: Urda
Urda is the most RACIST elf I've ever met. She's like "Barbarous humans". But she earns points for being hot. She'd be ranked 1st if she wasn't racist, and if she didn't make you leave the stupid forest to get Zegai to join your party. Why didn't they have an option to say "Not right now" to Urda? That would've saved me a trip.

2nd: Sarah
Sarah is strangely attractive in her official art. Not so much in game though. Sarah has a "Go get this from that person" quest. Everyone wants something, and then in the end SARAH HAD SOAP ALREADY! Also I had no idea she

1st: Ayda
Ayda is awesome if only for saving the Griffon Feather's life. That's just awesome. Ayda loves animals. She's also fairly useful. So Ayda gets the first place spot of this fairly lackluster star. Ayda is one with the forest, and she and Kinnison apparently get along. That's good to know. Don't have much else to say about her really. She's not a racist elf. She doesn't make you go get a hard to find object that she already has. So she gets first.

Chiretsu Star[]

5th: Sansuke
Sansuke just sort of joins you, and gives you a bath. Never really used the bath in Suikoden I. Were there even bath scenes in this game? I don't remember. If there were- I never saw them.

4th: Goro
Goro would be rated higher just for being the son of Tetsu, but a lot of the characters in the game just happened to be children of the former stars. I would've liked it more if the game took place a lot earlier, and just had the same stars instead. Bath Duels could've given him a higher ranking.

3rd: Taisuke
Taisuke is better than Goro if only because of his recruitment scene- he leaves his clothes outside of the cave. Heh. That always earns a laugh from me. Lazlo brings him his clothes. Too bad he wasn't a hot chick... That would've had him (well her if he was a girl) rank 1st.

2nd: Pico
Pico is cool. Mairie has a crush on him. He's a musician. He adopted Annalee, which is cool. he and Alberto raise her. This would normally raise my eyebrow, but Mairie shows that that's not the case. He cares a lot for his adopted daughter/sister. They make a good trio really.

1st: Miroon
Beaver! Muroon can always tell when Miroon is smiling or not. Reminds me of Shigure and Sagiri, only more brotherly. She loves baths. That's cool. She doesn't have gnaw, but Rest is fairly useful. And she doesn't say Nuoh all the time. Which means nothing. Miroon builds the bath in Suikoden V, which is an AWESOME bath. With great scenes and all that.

Chiken Star[]

5th: Piccolo
Piccolo claims to be a student of Crowley- but somehow I doubt it. He dies easily in Thomas's chapters. So I never really used him. He's a fortune teller with a name I don't like. I think he's Karayan, but I can't tell.

4th: Qlon
The town announcer, not to be confused with the monk place. I was always weirded out by that. Qlon doesn't like calling Antei... whatever the hell Milich renamed it. He was a fruity guy. Qlon likes announcing places. That's cool. Must be an easy job when there is no war and people don't change town names.

3rd: Nalleo
I thought Nalleo was a girl for the longest time. Yup. He's Louise's son. Not with Dario or Ornan of course. But still. Louise's son. Too bad they don't do more with that. Not a bad pirate though. Supposedly he became a legendary pirate.

2nd: Chisato
Chisato is a puppeteer. If Chisato did more than just change the prince's voice she'd be awesome. If she put on little puppet shows... that would be awesome. Maybe something like the theater in Suikoden III. Oh man, that'd be awesome. Put the cooking game, and the puppeteer theater in, and Suikoden V would be VERY hard to surpass as my favorite game.

1st: Alberto
Alberto finishes up the trio of musicians in Suikoden II. He actually gets a job in the game, so that's kind of what makes me like him. He works for an armorer, instead of trying to use his music. So good for him!

Chimou Star[]

4th: Haruto
Haruto is the Cartographer for Suikoden IV. Which should be more important than they make it out to be. I barely remember the guy. He's just kind of on your boat, and that's it. Too physically weak to do much.

3rd: Rody
I like Rody. I feel sorry for Rody. He's like Bergen, only actually pretty cool. He comes with a firefly rune- ouch. That's not fair for him. Rody is Estalla's apprentice- more like slave, but what the hay. Rody is almost 15, so I'll let his age pass a little. Especially since he's accompanied by an adult.

2nd: Templeton
Templeton is the first Cartographer for the series. He was pretty cool in Suikoden I and II, but not very important storyline wise. Though none of the Cartographers really were. I think it'd have been neat if secret passages could've been found with him. Oh well.

1st: Takamu
Takamu is awesome. He was hired to create an accurate map of Falena, and he did a darn good job of it. He's also useful for finding hidden passages. Which is awesome. I am so glad they added that. I like how he can find the elves forest somehow. That's pretty cool. Even though it's protected by elven magic. Takamu is sadly put in jail by the Godwin Faction. But luckily the prince and his crew save him. I wonder if he's at all related to Templeton. I doubt it.

Chizoku Star[]

5th: Guillaume
The Pedophile. This guy makes Gavaya look good. I almost wonder if the two are related- but even Gavaya just wanted to marry someone. Guillame... he's disturbing. I don't like him, and I don't like the duel with him either. I feel kind of icky when I recruit him.

4th: Oskar
Oskar is useless. But not a Pedophile. So he gets rated higher than Guillaume. Though a lot of stars in Suikoden IV are worthless. Oskar is one of those that are REALLY worthless.

3rd: Krin
Krin is pretty cool for a short period of time. He helps you sneak into Lepants Mansion. But then tries to poison you. Luckily you already know about the bandit tea, and he has to take his own stuff. He argues with Kasumi later in the game, and is required to come with you to recruit Kasim Hazil. After the war, the jackass steals from the government Vault and is never seen again. He's almost as bad as Sanchez.

2nd: Hoi
Hoi is an impostor- a funny one. Funnier than Roy, because he does it just to get free meals. I like when they accuse Riou of being an imposter too. It's funny. Then Hoi learns Riou is the real deal (after joining the party). So funny. Of course it's not like he's the only one who doesn't think that Riou is the leader of the army. Then again, he is a small boy. Though why the Bright Shield Rune wouldn't suffice for anyone, I don't know.

1st: Roy
The other impostor. A bit more malevolent, but at least Lucretia uses him as a decoy. That's a brilliant plan. Why didn't Shu try that with Hoi? Oh well. Roy has a sense of entitlement, but Lyon shuts him up. Oddly, he develops a crush on Lyon. Much to Faylen's displeasure. Roy is kind of funny when he portrays the Prince. He speaks using old English. Surprisingly Alenia can't tell the difference, even after Roy opens his mouth. Only Lyon and possibly Lym can tell the difference immediately in Roy and the Prince. It's in his eyes, and as Lyon puts it "He looks Vulgar". If Roy shared a star with Nadir, things would be very interesting.

Chikou Star[]

5th: Chandler
He joins you just by talking. I don't think I ever bought anything from him. A pity really I guess. Not very useful, not very important either. Not interesting at all. They could've at least given him a tiny bit of background.

4th: Gordon III
This guy is weird. A bit... effeminate I guess. I think he wears panty hose, though I could be wrong. He's pretty much the other narcissist of Suikoden III. Yeah. Never was a big fan of those. But at least he's not totally useless I suppose.

3rd: Chadli
This guy is weird. He sells stuff, and wears a helmet on his head. He thinks it's fashionable. Yeah... I"m sure Chadli. Very... fashionable. Chadli isn't very important to the game, but you buy stuff from him so... meh. At least he has more personality than Chandler, and doesn't creep me out like Gordon III.

2nd: Gordon II
The trading Guy. Suikdoen II introduced the awesomness of Trading. I really enjoyed it for the most part. Good way to make money. Though the trips between Gregminster and your castle were a pain in the butt. It was nice when he moved into your castle. I don't know why he shares a name with Gordon III. I guess they got lazy.

1st: Sairoh
Sairoh is awesome. He's 72 years old, and a former Trader. He was a VERY powerful merchant, but after his child and their spouse died, he retired to take care of Shinro. Sairoh is excited by trading. The Prince sells 6 salts to impress him- selling them when salt is low of course. The one thing I don't like about him is how difficult it is to get the salt prices to go up so much. Which is kind of ridiculous. But otherwise he's awesome. His extra skill in war is also VERY useful. This allows you to add one to a special skill like Charge. But when used with something like Star or Dawn, he helps make extra ownage in your war battles.
