Doom

The second FPS to ever exist, you play a nameless space marine (played by The Rock) who blows up the forces of Hell with all kinds of weapons which completely lack variety. Doom established many cliches of the FPS genre, including telefragging, heavily overpowered weapons, being able to go above 100 health, armor that gives you an additional layer of protection on top of your health, trying to add as much blood and gore as possible, and the law that all subsequent FPS games must have a melee weapon, pistol, shotgun, chaingun, and rocket launcher.
