Kingdom Hearts Factor is the theory most often advanced to explain the massive Square Boost between the 2002 and 2003 Summer Contests. The idea is that Disney's influence exposed Square characters such as Cloud, Sephiroth, and Squall to an entirely new audience, many of whom might have been interested enough to pick up older Square offerings like Final Fantasy 7.
Characters Affected[]
Based on 2002 - 2003 X-Stats (which hold Link to be constant at 50%)
- Sephiroth: 43.35% (2nd place after loss to Link) to 49.71% (3rd place after loss to Cloud)
The KH Factor Reborn[]
After the release of Kingdom Hearts 2 in late 2005, the term KH2F began to be thrown around when discussing how much better characters looked in Summer 2006 than they had back in Summer 2005. After the massive after-school vote pushes that everything KH-related felt in '06, the new factor was hard to deny. Some notable examples of the new trend include:
- KH's massive ASV results in an incredible 4600 vote turnaround in its Series Contest win over Castlevania
- Kairi uses KH2F combined with Resident Evil's horrible day vote to flat-out slaughter Claire Redfield in the afternoon
- Riku goes from a 60/40 overnight beatdown to actually winning updates against Yoshi once the ASV kicks in
- Axel saves face by slashing 4% off Mega Man's percentage once the Power Hour effect wears off, setting the way for...
- Sora lays one of the biggest night vs day turnarounds ever on Mega Man, making massive cuts to his percentage the entire final 20 hours and even winning some updates outright(!)
