Some might look at Link winning this match so easily on Christmas Eve as cruel and unusual punishment for Santa, but I disagree. Santa nearly broke 40% on Link in a legit 24 hour match on the home page. Not something dumb like a Board 8-only poll with Jay Solano or a LOL 4-way match -- a legit bonus poll.
But look at Link's contest history for a sec.
Look at the characters on this list that didn't score 40% on Link. Mario couldn't do it in two attempts. Zack couldn't do it in three. Sonic couldn't do it last year. Luigi couldn't even break thirty percent on the guy. Samus couldn't do it in a year she didn't get SFFd all that badly.
You get the idea. This wasn't about whether or not Santa could win, because he wasn't going to. This was about whether or not he could hold up reasonably well, and he did. If you ask me, this is proof Allen is thinking of going broad spectrum next contest and allow all characters appearing in video games to be eligible. And he should. We have no major twists left to do other than letting Batman, Vader, Homer, Spiderman, Wolverine, Bugs Bunny, Ariel and all the rest of the crew in. It would be the most up-in-the-air contest since Summer 2002.
