Who is Lucario?[]

Lucario is a Fighting/Steel type Pokemon created in the fourth generation of Pokemon. Lucario has the ability to see the aura of living things and thus does not need to see the person for him to be able to sense them. Lucario is widely considered to be the face of Diamond and Pearl and has stared in a movie and is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

In the movie Lucario and his trainer, Sir Aaron attempt to stop a war. Sir Aaron told Lucario that he was not going to return to the castle because he was going to sacrifice himself to the Tree of Beginning and sealed Lucario in his staff. Lucario misunderstood and thought Sir Aaron was going to abandon him. 1000 years later in the present day Ash releases Lucario because he has a strong aura, but due to the misunderstanding Lucario detests all people and does not trust him. Eventually Lucario finds out the truth due to a message Sir Aaron left him in a time flower. In an attempt to save the Tree of Beginning Ash was about to sacrifice himself by putting his Aura into the tree, but Lucario pushes him aside and thus sacrifices himself and saving the balance between nature and Pokemon.

In the games Lucario is the main Pokemon of the fighting gym leader Maylene. He knows such moves as Drain Punch and Force Palm. On Iron Island you meet a trainer by the name Riley, who looks like Sir Aaron and he has a Lucario. While traveling Iron Island for the first time Riley teams-up with you and thus causing double battles against wild Pokemon and trainers. After going through the cave he gives you an egg containing the pre-evolve form of Lucario, Riolu.

After the performance of Pokemon in the previous contest and the release of Brawl the expectations for Lucario was high. Brawlfear was huge at the beginning of the contest plus Lucario was considered to be the mascot of Diamond and Pearl. His opponents were also not that threatening. Lucario quickly became one of the biggest flops of the contest. While failing to defeat Altair would have been fine since he was an unknown Lucario was losing to Isaac at one point in the match. To make matters worse Lucario was also the main reason as why Marth wasn't able to defeat Duke and Altair in the next round.
