Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals is an RPG for the SNES that is considered by the few who played it to be one of the greatest classics in gaming history. It is known for combining RPG elements with Zelda-style puzzles to create an experience that few other games have made. In contrast to the repetitive block pushing of certain other RPGs, the puzzles in Lufia II were difficult and often took some thought. Lufia II also did away with random battles, using monster sprites in dungeons and allowing players the chance to avoid combat or get a back attack on the enemy. There was also a 99-floor dungeon called the Ancient Cave where you started at Level 1 and tried to get as far as you can without bringing in any items from outside.

Lufia & The Fortress of Doom, the first game in the series, had a great story, but is nowhere near as noteworthy as its prequel.

Lufia II was nominated for the Spring 2009 Game Contest, where it was completely destroyed by RPG LFF due to the presence of the immensely popular Chrono Trigger and Earthbound. Not that it could have won a match in the first place, but its placement in the bracket caused a performance that put Midgar Zolom to shame.

Is not being remade for the DS. Definitely not.
