Dabu Explanation[]

A standardized ranking of popularity between years

What I did was first take the vote totals for every match in each contest and throw out the totals that didn't pass Grubb's test graphpad.com/quickcalcs/GrubbsHowTo.cfm as those are significant outliers that could cause a large change in the mean/standard deviation for each contest. I did computed an adjusted mean/deviation from the remaining matches, and then used that to standardize each match by how many deviations they were from the mean.

Interestingly enough, only three matches were significant enough to fail the outlier test: Mario/Cloud 2k2 , Link/Cloud 2k3, and Link/Cloud 2k4.

A positive score means a match was more popular than average (higher the better). A negative score means it was less popular than average.
