The third generation of Pokémon games, and generally believed to be the weakest of the first four, although it introduced a number of well-received innovations such as abilities and berry growing. Ruby and Sapphire failed to make the first Games Contest (Emerald had not been released at the time), and the trio was the only set of main-series Pokémon games not included in the second Games Contest. Finally given a chance in the Game of the Decade Contest, however, it proved that it was not to be taken lightly, either.
