Who is Professor Layton?[]
Professor Layton is the titular and main character of the Professor Layton puzzle series. While his main profession is a professor of archaeology, Layton is also considered to be an expert with puzzles. Accompanied by his faithful apprentice Luke, Layton will take on any challenge that faces him, and always remembers to act like a true gentleman.
"Critical thinking is the key to success!" - Professor Layton
Contest History[]
Win-Loss Record: 0-3
Summer 2008 Contest - Division 7 - Second Group
- Division 7 Round 1 --- 4th place, 12744 [9.44%] - Master Chief, 49936 [36.82%] - Raiden, 38447 [28.35%] - Kain Highwind, 34477 [24.42%]
As the main character of a casual-oriented series for the DS, expectations for Layton were not very high - and even then, he was unable to reach them. As expected, he was a distant last-place in his only four-way match.
Winter 2010 Contest - Heart Division - 11 Seed
- Heart Division Round 1 --- Lost to (6) Isaac, 19000 [31.21%] - 41871 [68.79%]
- Extrapolated Strength --- 122nd Place [12.77%]
On the strength of a new release, Layton was able to make the field once again, but he fared no better than his previous appearance. Perhaps the only way he'll ever get a win is if he somehow were to face Wander - and even that is no certainty.
Summer 2013 Contest - Division 2 - 9 Seed
- Division 2 Round 1 --- 2nd place, 10587 [31.19%] - (10) Barret Wallace, 16979 [50.02%] - (19) Reimu Hakurei, 6379 [18.79%]
Getting new releases almost yearly is sure to help Layton's strength, but no one expected the performance he would have in this match. He performed better against Barret than he did against Isaac in 2010. The performance was so shocking that the board thought Final Fantasy VII was dead despite this being Barret's first match. When all was said and done Layton did end up looking stronger though that is not saying much about a character who is quickly becoming one of those weak characters that always returns.
